Hotel du Vin, Edinburgh

Breakfast is fab! There is a dark haired girl with glasses working on breakfast and she is an asset to your team. The room was lovely. Just a pity the windows are locked and so we can't open them for a bit of fresh air in the room. I had asked to have them unlocked but I didn't realise, once we closed the window again, it locked. It would be better if you would leave the window keys in the window! The shower and bath were beautiful. It was all great.

Fabulous staff, very engaging and made Christmas special for 4 if us and the dog ! Really wonderful time, very well looked after and superb location. Could walk everywhere and despite being central lots of parkland to walk in very close by.

The location was lovely old town vibe combined with a tastefully decorated rustic style. Staff were attentive and helpful without being intrusive . My mum had booked this as an engagement gift. the hotel went out of their way to make sure we felt our celebration was special. On arrival we were welcomed with a lovely selection of delicious cakes and a congratulatory message along with them. We were given complimentary drinks vouchers, dressing gowns and slippers, just added to our lovely stay. The rooms were spacious and immaculate . The stay was comfortable and relaxing. We would come back in a second and definitely recommend to anyone.

The staff were great and made us feel very welcome. The bar was comfortable with an extra of being able to buy cigars there to smoke in the cigar bothy outside. Lovely touch. Loved our room with bath. Good location and felt private with where the entrance was through courtyard.

Pillows were not our preference - sure we could have asked for a change but we were only staying one night so just dealt with them as it was quite late when we realised

The room was quite hot at night and window was restricted to very narrow opening.

The room was spacious, the hotel was located a short walk away from the royal mile and was very quiet.

The Hotel is beautiful, i really enjoyed the food and the staff couldn’t do enough for you particularly Sam on the reception desk and the gentleman running the bar ( didn’t get his name unfortunately )

Not the best service in the restaurant. Slow to serve, half cleared table then forgotten about, no steak knife provided, had to ask for service twice, no soap in ladies’ toilets The main servers were great but too few. Some of the other staff (older) seemed to be hired for compassionate reasons

The hotel is within walking distance of everything central in Edinburgh, being very tastefully appointed, the room was lovely, clean and the staff were very attentive. Made for a really nice break between Christmas and New Year.

The breakfast is poor value for money, at that price point, would expect to be served coffee or tea at the table and probably toast as well, wouldn't normally expect to serve myself hot drinks and use a toaster at a hotel of this calibre. The standard of the hotel demands table service for breakfast in my humble opinion.

The location was excellent! And the bed very comfortable. Jennifer, the lady who welcomed us on arrival was very friendly and helpful.

The shower gel bottle was empty. We asked a member of staff who was cleaning the rooms if they could refill if but this wasn’t done.

the location was terrific. Close to Old Town, great restaurants, museums, Prices Street and the holiday market. Also easy walking to new town

I was in Edinburgh to attend my graduation ceremony, so the Hotel Du Vin is the best choice for me, it’s just the next corner of the McEwan hall, so I can change to my custom in the room and walk to the ceremony site. The bathroom is clean and warm, the shower is really good. The breakfast is also excellent, you can order the hot food from the friendly staff, 100% recommend

Location is perfect, next to Greyfriars. Good restaurants nearby. Friendly staff. Awesome architectural design, combining old and traditional with contemporary vibe.

lovely Hotel had everything we needed for our stay, the staff are very helpful and kind. The food is lovely there and was nothing to fault we would definitely stay there again.

The room was comfy and the bathroom was spacious and clean. The location was great too, close walking distance to all the main attractions in the Old Town.

The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The junior suites that we stayed in was very clean and tidy and the facilities were excellent. We would definitely recommend to our friends and family to stay and we will be returning in the future.

The hotel is very nice and well appointed, the staff are very helpful and attentive.

The price has gone up considerably since our last stay in November last year, I also think when you are paying in excess of £300 per night, you would expect that breakfast would be covered in the cost.

Old world charm

Is was in a beautiful setting in the centre of Edinburgh which allowed us to roam around and see the sights!

The room was slightly on the cold side but they did provide an electric heater. There could have also been hair conditioner in the bathroom.

I loved the location - it was perfect for getting around Old Town. And I loved the room - the bed was comfortable, I liked the bathroom amenities, and just in general the design was to my taste.

The drinks from the bar were a tad expensive. :)

Are at the restaurant the first night. Food was ok but service was not what I expected. Hotel du vin ironically doesn’t have an amazing wine menu and the head waitress and wine waiter knew NOTHING about wine. The lady that seems to be the head waitress needs to clam down and stop being over familiar. Too loud.

Friendly Reception staff, especially 'Abs' and the Brazilian lady who were always cheerful and helpful. Excellent bed and bed linen. Well cooked and presented breakfasts and dinner. Good bedside lights and phone charging sockets. It was easy to turn the heating off, open the window and work the TV. Plenty of comfy leather sofas and places to sit and relax with a whisky from the bar upstairs.

Tiny cartons of UHT milk on the tea/coffee bag tray. I should have asked for a jug of real milk. It could be difficult for less agile people getting into the bath or shower area in the bath because of the glass shower screen and the very hot towel rail. So wrap a towel around the heated towel rail to avoid hurting your hand. Good hot water and pressure. Slightly fusty smell in my room 'Chateau de Rolleriae', maybe from the carpet.

location was great, was able to check in a little earlier which was great because we arrived at 9am and check in wasn't until 3 they did have a nice sitting room to spend some of the time in.

honestly, we have been traveling to Edinburgh for years and have stayed here many times. we felt the restaurant is not as good as it once was.

Breakfast was great with some gluten free options.

The place is beautiful and the staff were absolutely fabulous.
