Jacobs Inn Hostel, Dublin

Location is good. 5 minutes walking to late night airport transport bus. Good option if you are going to catch early morning flight. Dublin is not a big city, almost all the tourist points is in walking distance.

No kitchen.

The location was wholesome. Just in the centre of city, bus station was hardly 1 min by walk, and all the food places were within 10 min walking distance. The pods were comfortable. Shower was warm. They have Live Music in evenings after 8pm, but I couldn’t attend that as i was on my business trip. Overall good experience. Recommended.

The charging spots were not working inside pods. There was only one mobile charging spot in the entire 4 pod room. They should keep hair dryer in room as all hotels/hostel does.

The hostel was easy to find and a perfect base for a city trip in Dublin; everything was within walking distance. The neighborhood didn't feel unsafe to me. The staff were always friendly and happy to answer all my questions. The cleaning staff were also friendly. The cabins in the bedroom offered a lot of privacy. They weren't very long, but since I'm short, they were sufficient for me. It's true that the cabins get very warm (been there in november!), but with short pajamas, it wasn't a problem. The safe offered plenty of space and was easy to use. The bathroom was clean, but that of course also depends on the other guests in the room.

Breakfast was fine. The only thing I personally missed was baked beans.

The price

It was incredibly hot to the point that it ruined the whole experience. If the heat gets fixed it's a really good place. It's just to hot to sleep properly

The property is very conveniently located for walking and public transportation. I felt safe walking back even at night. The pods were very cozy! (like some other people mentioned it can get hot in there!) Everyone in the room was super respectful. I’ve never stayed in a quieter hostel room. It was a very mature atmosphere both in the room and the coworking style common area.

The shower in the dorm with the en-suite was pretty frustrating. The water runs for less than ten seconds with each push of the button, (Hack: lean back on it to keep it depressed while rinsing your hair.)

I booked a mixed-dorm bed and it definitely exceeded my expectations. The room and common areas were all clean and spacious; I was pleasantly surprised to see that the bathroom had two basins and a decently sized shower. My pod area was pristine and the right size for me (I'm not too tall). It's very thoughtful to have individual lockers and shoe spaces for each guest. The location is excellent, super close to Connolly Station and the Luas stop. This place is perfect if you want or need to move around Dublin City Centre. Also, the staff were nice and helpful :) I left my charger in the room after checking out and they helped me recover it.

For some reason, the USB socket in my pod area stopped working so I could not finish charging my phone in it. There were regular sockets in the room, but I couldn't use the one next to my bed. I got the buffet breakfast and, although most of the food was good, the fried eggs in particular were cold. It's very strange because they were under the food heater, which was turned on.

Can't check in till 3.30 with absolute rip off luggage storage fees. Similarly charging €3 for requesting a bottom bunk. Just annoying. Ryanair business model.

The perfect hostel! I was in the only-women room. The beds are comfortable and clean as well as the toilets. The breakfast is delicious, the staff is really polite. I would recomend to anyone

I thought the bed was conformable enough although the pillow was very thin, The light in the bed area is very practical and there are plugs to charge electronic devices. The bathroom was clean and practical. Great localisation.

I had issues opening and closing my locker. When I asked the staff, they said it was a battery problem and that they were aware the lockers were not working properly. They then proceeded to tell me someone would come the next day while I was away to check on the issue. Which I refused as I did not want a stranger accessing my stuff without my supervision. To which they said fine then we leave it like it is... Not a nice experience.

The breakfast was very good and the hostel in downstairs is very good.

I prefer when have Toilet and shower separate

Excellent budget option for those looking for hostel experience. Staff is superb. Overall feels safe clean and fun. Wednesday jam session felt like going to a rock concert in your own place. 4-pod place was quite functional with a dedicated batchroom. Excellent continental breakfast buffet with eggs bacon and many other options including great coffee drinks

The hostel is in a prime location, close to restaurants, bars, and mass transit. Good value for money.

The hallways had a slight smell, though the room was fine and didn't smell anything. There was no way to control the heating, so our room was way too warm and we had to have the window open at all times. Feels like a waste of energy but the air was needed.

The staff was excellent! Maria helped me with check-in and booking a couple of tours… she was so kind, patient, and thoughtful. Location was good.

The mattress was hard on my hips. The price skyrocketed because of a rugby game but I wasn’t there for that so it was excessively high.

The place is very nicely laid out in a great location. The staff are really lovely and very helpful.

The beds as they are pods got uncomfortably warm at times (at the end of October) so I can only imagine what they would be like in summer.

Ordered a pizza , it was served cold Basically they heat frozen pizzas which itself is bad and that too did not heat properly it was fridge cold Better to not serve if cannot prepare fresh

1. When you arrive you're warm fully welcomed, everything is explained. 2. When you arrive in your room, everything is easy access and we'll thought. The bunks were decent, and there were curtains which is very nice to have a bit of privacy 3.when you go to the private toilets in the room, globally it was clean 4.the common areas were very clean as well. 5. What was nice is that when something was organised on the ground floor, we didn't hear it in our rooms. 6. Breakfast was really good. Exceeded my expectations. 7. Location wise, it was inside city center it was perfect!

1. The gap in the ladder was just a big to big for me, I almost fell and my bunk was a bit dusty. 2. It was really hot in the room which is good and bad, at least they had heater but yeah sometimes it was too warm in the room and there was only 1 window

It was lively but I could relax as there were many spots available at any time (lounge, bar, rooftop and my capsule ofc). The personnel was great and very helpful. I never felt like I bothered anyone when I reached out.

Maybe the shower weren't too practical with the water stopping every 15 seconds but I understand the logic behind. Still very good for the price overall

This is my favourite place to stay in Dublin! I choose this over the hotels I've stayed at and not just because it's cheaper to stay at! The whole place has got such good vibes-beautiful decor, so cool and inviting. Great staff and atmosphere. I could spend all day here! It is SUCH good value for money being right beside Connolly station LUAS line also. You get a big locker for your belongings in the rooms free of charge, the 'pods' are comfortable and the breakfast is great also! Highly recommended!

You won't get a complimentary towel however so pick yours up at the front desk when you come in

This was my first time using a hostel and I was really impressed with the bunk bed. I felt as if I were in a cocoon. Initially, I didn’t think I would sleep well because of the strange environment and the amount of people I was sharing the room with (I was the last of 8), however I slept like a baby and I didn’t use ear plugs. I also enjoyed the activities planned. I was only able to stay one night because they were booked. If ever I return to Ireland again I definitely book Jacob’s again.

Getting to the room was a little maze like, however I think I felt that was because it was my first time using a hostel.

-Love the private space in the pod -I needed a quiet place to recieved work calls, and they have a common area with comfortable benches, staff were also very helpful -Nice location, 2 min walk to the Luas station and the railway station (if you're planning to take a train to Belfast)

Didn't expect they would charge for luggage storage, min. 5 Euro (didn't happen in other European countries I've been to)

The breakfast is unbeaten.

You have to pay for almost everything extra.

In the capsule, no one can see you because of the curtain. The bar is very lively and fun in the evenings. I went to a karaoke evening and the guests really sang wonderfully.

The pillow was too thin for big men, I had to twist it in half, the bed creaked behind my head with every turn, and the faucet in the shower was broken and wouldn't hold for even a second, so I ended up either holding it with one hand or using the shared shower in the hallway.

Very convenient location, good atmosphere lots of young people different nationalities, colourful. Good WiFi and a bar. Just remember to bring some pajamas or other sleeping clothes if you are likely to get up in the night.

The breakfast used to be good and have a big pot of coffee but they have replaced it with a coffee machine that produces some kind of nasty instant coffee which is NOT what you want first thing in the morning. I don't know whose idea that was but I'm willing to bet he/she doesn't have to drink the stuff themselves.

its not a "hostel" if you dont provide adequate self catering basics.... and having an empty kettle a microwave with no delphware..cutlery..sink...in a very well hidden room ...doesnt cut it... .

The breakfast was really nice, it has the central location.

There is a only one bathroom inside the room for 10 people and that's not enough, additional you can't find more showers outside the room.

My first impression was a bit tricky — I actually got lost trying to find the building since it wasn’t clearly marked. You have to walk down a pretty dark alley, and the hostel name is only written in small letters on a window. But once I found it, the lobby had a really nice atmosphere, and the staff were incredibly kind, polite, and professional. They made me feel very welcome and explained everything clearly about how to use the pods and access the rooms. Everything was very user-friendly! There are plenty of restaurants nearby, many of which are open late or even 24/7, so you’ll never have trouble finding food. The facilities were good — there were plenty of bathrooms and showers in our hallway, which I appreciated. The only downside was that the showers required you to keep pressing a button to keep the water running, which made it a bit awkward to shower one-handed. Even in the shared room (for 10 people), the private bathroom had the same setup. I didn’t try the hostel’s breakfast since there were so many food options around, but they do offer it for an extra fee. The pub was great, the atmosphere lively, and the rooms — while a bit older — were actually more spacious than many other hostels I’ve stayed in. Overall, it’s a friendly, comfortable, and well-located hostel with great staff. Just be prepared for a slightly hidden entrance and a quirky shower setup!

It's way better than I thought it would be clean, friendly, and safe.

It was good.The only thing was I got there at 1pm super tired.Couldn't check in till 3pm, but I understand the check-in rules.

I really appreciated that even though I got into the city at 2:30am they were still open, friendly, and very welcoming. The place had a great energy, and everyone at least in the areas I stayed in were very respectful too.

No major complaints, this was my first experience with a hostel so while it obviously wasn’t *as* comfortable as a hotel or bnb, it was still very nice.

The environment

The interior, design is well thought out and makes you feel like you are at a quality place. I think it used to be a biscuit factory. The room was spacious enough to move around. The breakfast was excellent! Location is excellent for transport links and easy to get from the airport.

Well, you obviously share one bathroom and one toilet (same area) with 10+ people, but I was lucky and did not have to wait long. Bed is very basic. I got the smallest ever soft drink at the bar. 125 ml for €3! The pizza was better priced, but...not the best.

Great location, cheap, clean

I stayed for two nights and really liked the place. The location is excellent – right next to the train station and within walking distance of everything important. The staff were very friendly, and there was plenty of space to work or just hang out. I met some great people there too. The pods were nicely lit, each room had its own bathroom, and everything was well organised. The curtains in the pods also gave a nice sense of privacy.

The pods were a bit small and only had USB-A and USB-C ports, so I couldn’t plug in my laptop directly. My bedsheet had a small bloodstain at first, but the staff replaced it immediately and handled it very professionally.
