Generator Hostel, Dublin

The music in the communal area was low this time. Thank you!! The bed was great, TV, bathroom clean and lovely and warm during the night.

The sockets were all bad. Flickering lights and charger for my phone would be charging one minute and not the next. I did report it to reception so it wouldn't get worse or cause a fire.

I like the staff, friendly and helpful.

Door to the room felt thin. I woke up any time someone came in late during the night. I could see a big line of light at night from the hallway through my door

Everything except for the matters I was located on.

I have to chenge the mattress by swapping with one bed location that was vacant. The springs were picking me and as I turn, changing positions.. I the springs will make notice.

Good Solid Mattresses and generally very clean and well maintained.

Washing machines in basement are a bit complicated. An “eco” wash takes 2 hours and there’s no way to cancel a cycle.

Staff was helpful and friendly. The hotel is located right in the city center. Easy check-in. Plenty of stores, restaurants and bars around. The room was clean and generally fine. Breakfast was ok for the price.

The bathroom was quite cold, no heater there. Also, the water pressure was low. The walls were very thin and we could here everything in the other rooms, bathroom, etc. It's ok for a short stay, but no longer than that.

The atmosphere was brilliant, staff were lovely. Prices were decent! Room was brilliant size.

Bed wasn't comfortable, only one pillow each, wasnt super comfortable either. Thin walls. But it was a lovely room besides that.

Very centric, clean and nice well-organized check-in. Staff was also nice!

Someone had already taken my bed so I had to switch and take his upper bunk bed. Not Generator´s fault though. Someone spilled orange juice all over the floor but that was cleaned up perfectly the next morning.

Ensuite bathroom had a mouldy smell, looked clean though, be aware theres no shampoo or conditioner, towels are extra charge. Bed doesnt have a privacy curtain, and you have to pit on your own bed sheet!

Common area was nice. Nice bar and enough facilities (all $$ of course). Location is good, especially for the price. Most of the employees were very nice

When we came, the showers of atleast two cabins had broken handles which resultes in only boiling or cold water. Water didn’t wash away. We also had to go the second floor to be able to use it while we were on sleeping on the first floor. The room was really small compared to the pictures with a pole in the middle, also the sink was loose and pretty small. + really hot, even in november. The only window was connected to the beer garden. But you’re in a hostel, so can’t complain about the noice ;)

The convenience to central hub of Dublin and easily accessible luas (tram nearby) and the security outside of the hostel made you feel extra safe.

Not enough towels provided, and parts of the room were still dirty when I arrived.

The bathroom in our room was not very clean, the shower drains kept backing up. However the rest of the room was great.

Close to city centre, good parties.

Our room smelled bad and also the coridors smelled like cat urin. We didn’t expect food and drinks to be forbidden in the room and in hanging area. Most of the toilet seats in mens facilities were broken.

Excellent location, walking distance to the centre ... and near to lots of eating places and a great pub - The Cobblestone - Genuine Irish pub, no frills, not touristy, overpriced or pretentious, just great Guinness, great atmosphere and great music ...

For Dublin, Generator was reasonably priced... rooms were standard hostel type but could do with a bit of TLC eg curtains that cover the window

Our room wasn’t ready on check in

Location , bar and food was good and reasonable . Stayed two nights with my brother , we had no issues to report.

Bedroom didn’t look much like the website, room and beds were small. Bathroom and shower were also small.

The area was wonderful, great restaurants, close by the Jameson distillery, wonderful little pub at the end of the square (the Cobblestone) had live music and a great atmosphere, tho don’t do meals there, there was also a terrific supermarket over the road that served all meals during the day and you could purchase by the bowl (terrific idea). Buses, etc were at the end of the street, would stay in the area again.

There was a party of 7 adults and one child staying at the hotel and I had seen photos of a room that had seats and a little bit of space, and probably should have been more proactive in my requests, however our room only had beds, with nowhere to sit and luggage was all over the floor. I realise it is a hostel and the room would be small but this room did not suit our needs at all and I wouldn’t stay again in a large group like that. If you were a couple or twin room, I am sure accommodation would be more suited.

Room was ok, very dark and basic. Beds weren't made and there was no towels, you have to pay extra. It was fine for one night and the price

Location was great.

There was no shelves in bathroom to put our things. We got a private room for just our group. It was a hassle to get ready with nowhere to place your bathroom essentials like toothbrush, hair gel, etc. Also one of the lockers couldn’t even be opened due to being too close to the bathroom door. The bathroom has a lot of space to put some shelving, also no electric plugs in the bathroom.

The location was great walking distance to many of the local attractions. It made it very convenient for getting around the city.

We were right next to the Jameson Distellery. Lots of restaurants near by, and a cool pub down the street called Cobblestone were they play live music. The place does have locker storage for luggage so that was a plus.

I didn't like the room, needs a big time update. The place is full of young people. Looks like a party hotel for the young. Very loud music n very busy.
