Location, staff, room

Rowdy group of men in bar and no one came to speak to them and they were very intrusive and kept approaching any women in their vicinity and they fought with each other and broke glass bottles.

The location of the venue if relativley good. Its within 20mins- 30mins of Guinness storehouse and temple bar area which saves using buses. The bar and breakfast area is nice. It is clean enough and has decent facilities.

For what you pay we felt a little let down. For a premium hostel like generator we would expect things like usb charging points in beds or that we could have a shower at 10am on a tuesday and the soap be filled. Little things but when paying what generator charges it matters.

Good location right in the city centre, basic but serves the purpose for a quick stay in Dublin.

Payment for renting towels. Could improve on cleaning.

Nice rooms, nice sheets, good service

One toilet out of 2 was not working and it upset me how this was handled. Everyone in my room had to find out themselves it did not flush. No info or nothing. After 2 days staff put the trash can in front of it - thats it.

the private room was really super cold 🥶 that I wake up abit ill 🤒 even beening in bed and the radiators ws non functional and the shower has seen better day's and I'd say it's not worth the €150 but could of been a better price

The location was just by the Smithfield public space that was a Christmas Market while we were there. Downstairs was a bar and café with food options, and around the corner were plenty of bars, restaurants, an overnight car park, and a tram stop into town.

I didn't appreciate the thin doors, as you could hear even footsteps on carpets. So when the teenie boppers came in drunk and still wired at 2 or 3, you could really hear every word. Also, I didn't like the policy of no food & drink from outside in the rooms, under the pretext that the place can provide guests with what they need. Well if I want to pay less than half the price for some water from Tesco or a croissant and coffee from the Third Space café on the other side of the square, I want to have that choice. Finally, concerning the choice of drinks in the bar: it was all well-known brands that I could get anywhere from Tokyo to Johannesburg. There was nothing very local about it, which was sad in a way. Fortunately there are a few pubs in the area to put that right.

The Generator is very central in Dublin, a short distance to shops, pubs and Dublin quays. Friendly and helpful staff. Nice bedroom overall.

Our bathroom wasn't heated. I'm not particularly picky but in winter time, it would have been nice to have a heated floor and/or heated radiators

Booked a room with double bed for two well in advance. Got a room with single beds and bunk beds.

The hostel had a nice youthful atmosphere. The bathroom was clean, and the location was perfect. The staff were extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the area.

I had to share a room with an older gentleman. The man reeked and never left the room, staying in all day watching YouTube in bed in the dark without headphones (even during the night). I asked to be moved to a different room after check-in, but apparently, nothing could be done. It wasn't until he became belligerent and threatening during the night, and the rest of my roommates came down to complain the next morning, that any action was taken. All of this completely killed the mood, and for the first time, I felt unsafe in a hostel. It almost ruined my trip. Another guest mentioned that the man had been staying for at least a week and that there had already been issues with him. Why he was allowed to check in at all is baffling. Part of running a hostel (or any other type of accommodation) involves recognizing red flags (smell, intoxication, creepy disposition) and turning away troubled individuals or undesirable guest

Good location close to the Luas. Nice little room with a comfortable bed. Nice vibe in the lobby/bar/restaurant.

The location is excellent. Very central, right by the Lucas. It’s very quiet at night, also warm and cozy. The staff were extremely helpful.

The bathroom wasn’t cleaned very well, the sink was blocked. There was no shower gel in the shower dispenser. There was only one curtain which made it very bright at night due to street lights.

Great location. Only a couple stops on the Luas to main shopping areas. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Check in was quick and easy. Room was spacious and very clean. I like the decor style. Bed was comfortable. The communal areas like the bar are full of great vibes

One large Step up into the shower , The shower floor is metal and has bumps which I assume is designed to prevent slipping but doesnt actually stop slipping. I would of liked a rubber matt in the shower to prevent slipping.

Good vibe, lively place with a bar, walking distance to the central Dublin.

Overall it was a good experience. I was on the ground floor so it was noisy.

Nice hostel, vibrant and funky! Good facilities and value for money. Food was good, lots of areas to chill.

The bathroom door in our room was miss hinged so it meant everytime it closed the bottom of the door scraped so loudly everytime. It gave me a headache by the time we were leaving. Shower floor was also quite off putting.

I travelled with my two teenage girls, I felt very safe and the staff were very kind and helpful,

The bathroom was dirty The room was next to the bar near reception was so loud and the curtain didn’t fit across the window which looks out to the courtyard which made us feel vulnerable when the light was on that people could see in.

Conveniently located close to the LUAS stop. Very friendly and helpful staff. Buffet breakfast is decent.

The facilities are just amazing. The design feels very modern but also classic. Rooms are spacious and the lockers are giant. Bathrooms are clean and you can request extra cleaning hands. There are lot of games and the bar area is like an actual pub. The location is ok, not the most centric but has nice restaurants and pubs nearby and it's well connected to everywhere as tram is 2min away. The inside bar is quite good also, super handy so you dont have to freeze outside

Bathroom has room for improvement. There are no shelves or anything to leave your clothes/soap etc while you shower. The pillows are too plain for my taste and you couldn't stay on the phone at bed, it was just too uncomfortable. There is no kitchen or anything to heat some food so you will have to eat outside everyday which on Dublin is very expensive. Towels not included, you have to rent them (feels like it's the usual on Ireland sadly) Although the space is very well designed to be social, as there are no programmed activities or anything it's a bit difficult to interact with the people, but that's not hostels fault. I think on this hostel is better to come with friends

I am not one who takes easily to hostels, but I've stayed in two Generator branded hostels and they seem to do things right. The place was very cleanly, it was nice to have access to laundry on-site. The lockers under the bed are vital and well appreciated. Location was great, Smithfield is a short walk from Temple Bar, and a lot of Dublin's history and culture. The Cobblestone and Lighthouse Cinemas are very close.

The towel rental is a bit pricey, would be nice if they just lent them on deposit rather than charging. Having the bar/restaurant etc. made for a loud and raucous lobby. The room door closing was LOUD. I had such a hard time trying to go in and out quietly not to disturb my roommates.

Room was big spacious and had almost everything you would need Location was perfect for us. We got breakfast downstairs there were no issues, the price was reasonable and the food was delicious.

The location is very good. Close to bus stop and the city train.

Everything has to be paid for separately. They don’t even include a mat for the shower. The bathroom was not very clean, and there was a lot of noise in the hallway during the night.

The staff was AWESOME-

The room was very small, window looked out to a courtyard where another guest sat and chatted on the phone - so we couldn’t open our window - it was INTRUSIVE!

The staff at the reception (not the cleaners) were extremely nice, supportive and always forthcoming.

Not at all clean, I had to fight to get the bathroom cleaned at least once per day, sometimes I even gave up after the third time asking. Room pretty small for 4 people.

I personally was missing windows in the room - there was one but hidden behind a bed so no natural light in the room. Also female/male showers and toilets change every floor so I had to walk 1 floor down every time I needed to go to the toilet.

To just sleep for the night its fine, but bring ear plugs if you are there for work. It's quite noisy and every night I stayed there was some party in the lounge area.

Large, spacious room and a comfortable bed. It served our purpose and was suitable for our needs. I like the Generator brand, as we've stayed in our cities with Generator, so it was familiar.

I wasn't sure if the room had been cleaned prior to our arrival, as the bins hadn't been emptied... so made me doubt overall cleanliness especially the bed..
