The rooms are small, furniture is short/small, thin walls you can hear everything in the next room

Loved the cafe, restaurants and decorations. The robes were amazing! Overall aesthetic was great. Staff was friendly, room was clean. Overall loved it!

Room was a lot smaller than it was shown as online. We requested the superior suite and the room was less spacious / different than it was portrayed. The view was also not great, and I believe the online listing said with the suite we requested it would be a view of the city.

Lack of access to water. There was no complimentary bottled water in the room or when asked for, no drinking fountain or bottle filling station and the ice machine was in the basement. It would have been $5 to buy a bottle of water in the hotel lobby. With the ice machine in the basement, it made it inaccessible to get water and ice for the room which to me is a very basic and important necessity when staying overnight anywhere.

Honestly the stay was great…very expensive for a tiny room, but you pay for ease and convenience. Only problem I had was there isn’t a coffee maker in the room…for some twisted reason I wake up at 430 on the dot every day. Hated waiting till 7am for the coffee bar to open. Otherwise, good stay!

The vibe is obviously the point here and it is pretty good. Location is very nice, near plenty of good restaurants and bars. The staff were incredibly helpful when we needed them.

Some things could use some TLC. Some furniture not in great shape, fixtures slightly damaged, but these were sort of easy to ignore.

I woke up every night sweating and the AC control in the room seemed not to work. Also the pump for the shower gel didn’t work. Bed is very low to the ground and the TV is about 2ft away from the bed on the side. I could hear everything going on in the hall. Also didn’t like that that the items (Queen coverlet and robe) being held for me were put back up by two ladies at the front desk. I was told by Ivory on Sunday night that they would hold them until I checked out and he would put a note on my account for it. Luckily the two items I wanted were still available. Please don’t promise something to a customer and then not follow through. Also every time we used the cold water it made a loud sound in the pipes.

The sofa in our room was ripped and the coffee table had a big chip. The railing of our spiral staircase was sticky, no idea why. It’s a beautiful hotel but I think the vintage furnishing look sometimes means things get worn down and not fixed (not necessarily in the intentional way).

I loved the historical building and the decor. There was a lot of attention to detail that we appreciated. The staff was pleasant, especially the valet staff and the barista.

I understand that this is a boutique hotel and that being the case, some “normal” hotel amenities may be forgone, but I do feel like a lot of hotel essentials were missing, especially for the cost. At almost $800 for two nights, there was no safe in the room, no mini fridge, no coffee maker, no room service, and no fans in the bathrooms. We loved that there was a coffee bar in the lobby, but would have liked the option to purchase vs. brew coffee in the room. We would have purchased coffee regardless, but almost felt forced to, which was a little off putting due to the cost of the room.

This hotel is absolutely gorgeous, warm and welcoming. The decor is breathtaking. You feel like you are transformed back in time. The staff is attentive, kind, friendly and very accommodating.

Everything was perfect other than some elevator issues. But that was a minor inconvenience compared to everything else the hotel offers.

Beautiful hotel.

Small rooms.

The hotel is centrally located. It is easily within walking distance of the arena and other entertainment. The room was clean and well stocked. The hotel has a very cozy feel about it. I plan to stay there again the next time I visit Detroit.

The staff was inconsistent. There were some staff members that went out of their way to help. There were others when I asked questions that I felt like I was bothering them. I had upgraded my room from my original booking and they did not have that information. I ended up with my original booking. While that didn’t bother me because the room meet my needs. I would have rather had the larger room. The coffee bar did not open until 7 AM and there was no coffee pots in the room. I found that to be very annoying.

We enjoyed the historic and authentic atmosphere, and even though it was older, there were newer additions and more luxurious items such as the shower, towels and soap that made it seem modern.

The water took forever to get hot. The room till a while to get warm. Not enough light in the room. Light switch controlled outlet next to my bed and I didn’t notice it wasn’t charging my phone overnight.

Loved the atmosphere and decor. Staff was friendly and the breakfast on-site was very good!

I booked a “queen” room but it came with a double bed. Disappointed that this was not specified in the reservation.

From the lobby to the hallways to the rooms, the whole vibe of the hotel is unique and very well done. The bed was comfy, the bathroom/shower were great. We had limited interactions with staff during our stay but all were pleasant. And you can't go wrong with a visit to the Candy Bar or Karl's Diner, both cool spots within the hotel.

Our room was very "cozy" and the smallest I've experienced while staying in the city. Weekend luggage was even a bit difficult to stash for 2 of us so would simply suggest to others to pay attention to room size if that's a concern or you're staying a bit longer.

Great fun and quirky hotel with a comfortable feel. Staff was super friendly.
