The hotel’s buildings partially date back to the Venetian occupation of Crete, which lasted from the 13th to the 17th centuries. In fact, the hotel was envisioned and carefully restored by its two owners, who happen to be architects. They masterfully preserved the original Renaissance architecture and stone arches while leaving intact later Turkish additions, like the iconic enclosed wooden balconies.
The design centers around two peaceful courtyards colored in authentic Renaissance shades of pale pink and Sienna ochre. Inside, you’ll find pebble-mosaic floors, tropical gardens, and hidden swimming pools that make the property feel like a secret oasis, completely sheltered from the bustling tourist streets just outside.
You couldn’t ask for a better launchpad for sightseeing, as the hotel is named after Alvise Rimondi, the Venetian governor who built the landmark Rimondi Fountain in 1626, which sits just steps away. The majestic, 16th-century Fortezza Fortress dominates the skyline nearby, offering incredible sweeping views of the Mediterranean Sea.
A short stroll also takes you to the picturesque Venetian Harbour, lined with excellent local fish tavernas. For a deeper dive into the island’s past, the Archaeological Museum of Rethymno and the historical Church of St. Francis are practically right next door, making it easy to soak up the local culture at your own pace.

Peaceful luxurious nest in the heart of town
This hotel is a true peaceful hidden gem in the middle of the hustle of Rethymno.
Staff was very kind, we had a welcome drink and an upgrade to a superb room on two levels with terrace.

Ground floor rooms can be disturbed by other residents chatting around the pool area who probably assume they are bedrooms, but a light knock meant folk moved on. Minor issue compared to location and charm though which were superb

There seemed to be a lot of noise around the hotel grounds especially very early in morning. Sometimes from 5am. We think this was other guests crashing around as they were up early. Maybe not a lot the hotel can do about this but other guests need to be more respectful of others.
Also the pool area is poor. The actual pool is more like a big bird bath. We only ever saw pigeons in this!!

Very relaxing and felt at home
The hotel had a lovely charm about it and is in the heart of the Old Town.
It’s set across two locations (either side of the street) and as it’s quite old, there are a lot of stairs to navigate when accessing the rooms.
The staff are extremely welcoming, warm, friendly and nothing is too much trouble.

Very bad breakfast but good value to explore.rethymno old town.
Location is wonderful and staff are quite helpful.
Breakfast is very very bad. Quality of items was very bad, warm dishes were not well prepared and coffee was undrinkable. Fresh bread felt stale and quite some things from the cans.
The pools are only usable for kids but probably price you pay for the location convenience.

A perfect example of a very friendly city.
Very relaxing and very quiet despite being in the middle of the Old Town. ALL of the staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. The hotel is literally 5 minutes or less away from the major tourist spots in Rethymnon.

We enjoyed our stay and the swimming pools made a very memorable stay
The hotel was excellent spacious room, very clean, staff good but my husband was disappointed with the breakfast because there was never any hot food and when we asked for hot food the waiter responded with disapproval.
Make sure there is hot food for all guests.

Perfect place to stay in Rethymno!
The location was perfect to walk to shops, restaurants, beach and port.
The room was spacious, lots of closet space, and lots of windows. The bathroom was nice and the shower had good water pressure and glass doors. The staff was personable and very attentive they saw to our every need. The breakfast choices were amazing. The manager gave us great dinner restaurant recommendations

The staff couldn't be better. They were so helpful to us when we had to communicate with our tour company that had botched our travel plans and helped straighten things out since we could not explain ourselves in Greek. They took the extra time to work things out. The staff gave us great help with our luggage and helped with directions to various places efficiently and clearly.Breakfast was excellent.The room was clean and quiet. We were totally pleased with our experience here.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Rimondi Boutique Hotel - it is in a great location right in the middle of the old town. Eleni, Costa, Nick and Dimitri and the team really looked after us well.
We had a lovely tray of dried fruit and nibbles along with some Raki in our room provided as complimentary. The bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was fantastic and there was a huge range to choose from.
Highly recommended.

An oasis in the old town
The staff were particularly engaging and helpful - nothing was too much trouble. Our room was spacious and comfortable with an excellent bed and large bathroom. Breakfast was extensive and of very good quality. The location of the hotel was perfect for us being right in the centre of the old town but still a tranquil environment.

Excellent location, lovely building, helpful and friendly service
Excellent location in the old town, room was large and spacious and the bed was big and comfortable. A complementary selection of nibbles on arrival was a nice touch. Good sized pool located in a lovely space - we did not have time to swim. The breakfast was big and varied and the setting was peaceful in a pretty terrace. Would go back.
