Steel House Hostel, Copenhagen

Really great environment - seemed to have people of all ages traveling for both work and fun. The common areas were great to do some work, read, play pool or mingle. The evening activities were fun without being too rowdy. On salsa night, the dance floor was full and I overheard someone saying that they were from Copenhagen but just liked to come to the events every week, so it’s a great way to introduce travelers to the city. Staff were very helpful. Dorm beds were well set up with plugs, USB ports, mini lights, and a semi enclosed pod feel. Bathrooms and linens were all clean. The location was amazing. I’d come back!

The only issue was that the dorm rooms were small by where the lockers were, so a bit tight to navigate.

Swimming pool was clean, decent breakfast options and there was a variety of activity to join in. Really liked being able to join the salsa event & walking tour from the reception area.

I wished we were given spare towels for the pool as we had to use same ones throughout.

Very modern, comfy and cozy and a lot of programme to participate in. The staff was also very kind!

I would recommend curtains for the shared rooms so people wouldnt be so disturbed by someone turning on the light. Since bathroom and shower rooms of the shared rooms had glass doors it would illuminate the room a bit when sleeping, the light would disturb my sleep.

Conveniently located by the train station, nice and clean facility, lots of people, comfy beds, bathrooms in the room pretty nice for a hostel. Seemed like there were the possibility to socialize and meet people

Considering the price which is rather expensive for a hostel, access to facilities like the gym, pool, kitchen, lockers in your room, etc should be included. The value for money feels fair rather than great. At night lots of noise from the street. The bathroom light is particularly bright and is on a timer (cannot be switched on and off) so that was inconvenient with people going to bed and waking up at different times

The design of Steel house is pretty cool and it was easy to find. It's in a great location, few minutes from Tivoli and easy walking distance from other attractions. Bed was comfortable enough and access of top bunk was easy. Each bed had plug, light and pocket storage on the wall. I appreciated separation of shower and toilet in the room. Lockers were of a good size. Prices at the bar were very reasonable. I wasn't a big fan of the app for check in and the electronic key and staff was very accommodating and provided me with key card instead.

I would prefer having curtain on the bed pod, especially since bathroom and toilet room doors were translucent, so I was flashed with light throughout night whenever someone used it. The door to both were also quite noisy and did not offer any sound proofing. Not quite what anyone wants when sharing room with strangers. You need your own lock for the locker and the locking system is a bit flawed as I was able to open the locker even with lock on sometimes. There wasn't a lot of room between beds, so we struggled when 3+ of us arrived at the same time. Kitchen access is paid separately (I did not use this facility, so can't comment), as are pool and gym.

Very nice hostel, you could get cold and hot drinking water for free and enjoy lounge on the first floor. Rooms are nice, even though they are small. Staff is very friendly and helped me with my request, it was really nice! I enjoyed spending time in the lounge. It is also quite close to many attractions in the city, and not far from the train station. Everything additional like locks or luggage storage cost some more euro, but luggage storage is cheaper that on the train station, for example. I got lucky with roommates, and it was quiet to sleep there.

Rooms are really small, and doors to shower and bathroom are made of glass, so almost no sound isolation. I got lucky that all my roommates had similar schedule as me so it actually was not a problem, but I think doors might be a bit more solid. Also, my bed was not that clean, there was some dirt on the wall and under the first mattress, which was not that nice. Even though bed themselves are really ok, it would be good if they could be cleaned better.

The bathroom lacks a bit of privacy but it may not be an issue for everyone. Anyhow there are lots of bathrooms at -1 to use instead.

Fabulously well appointed hostel. Clean, friendly, modern. Beds are clean and offer privacy. Towels provided at no charge. There’s a cafe/bar, swimming pool, gym, cinema and games room all within the complex. Great location. Highly recommend.

Proximity to the city centre — 4min walk from Vesterport, 8min wall to Tivoli and shopping area Property is equipped with gym, cinema and tv area, mini arcade, large lounge, indoor pool, bar even open for general public. Family friendly.

Room can get really warm, no enough ventilation. en suite toilet and bath doors dont provide enough privacy. Although toilets are available downstairs if you want to do no. 2.

Important: the kitchen is paid extra, which is something I've never encountered anywhere. Very small luggage space. Just one locker high up - whenever i need something from the suitcase i have to pull out from an overhead locker and open it up on a narrow floor. No space to have anything eg. under your bed. If i wanted to have anything by me it was basically standing in the way of everyone, since my bed was closest to the door.

Good location, and although is a hostel, the demographic is quite diverse, so not the usual party-like hostel.

I used the app for the room keys etc, but in hindsight I should have just used the regular physical key

The beds in the larger room I stayed weren't as closed as the others, so privacy was not same and more light penetration.

The location is great and the hostel well structured.

They didn’t mention that big padlocks were needed to lock the lockers, and you were then required to pay extra to purchase a new padlock from them. Otherwise, you would not be able to properly secure your belongings

Any (additional) service will be dearly charged. Unfortunately, the hospitality goes missing in order to maximize profit. It seems like this common for the big hostel chains. However, this not in the sense of traditional hostels. Moreover, the rooms are quite small.

Perhaps the rooms aren't very acclimatised to warm temperatures, the room-mates and I were trying to work the AC and the windows to try and decrease the temperature in our July stay.

It's close to the station and there's kitchens and a lobby where you can hang out. The staff is helpful and friendly.

The rooms are pretty small and get pretty stuffy as the windows don't open properly.

We stayed in a private 6 bed room with bathroom (three adults, 2 children). Not much space to move, but comfortable and clean. Expensive, but that's Copenhagen! Great facilities overall and fab location.

We loved the whole thing - the vibe and the downstairs bar was excellent. The rooms were really good for our overnight stay. I've already recommended this venue for others to stay - it was our third trip to CPH and this was the best accommodation

There wasn't anything to dislike really. It's close to the station, a short walk to Tivoli, a hop skip and a jump from there to the shopping district. Stunning!

the location is right close to the center and the main station. The common spaces are nice and entertaining with a good athmosphere.

All was quite good but I couldn't sleep because the girl next to me was snoring a lot. The bathroom has a satinated window. when the people was using the bath in the night I was woken up by it.

Frosted glass doors that barely separated the bathroom from the rest of the dorm that let sound and light in is a terrible design choice. The towels were small.

It is very clean, it has a pool, gym. It's very close to the train stations. The individual pod has their own charging point. Linen and towels are included. There is a pool and a gym.

The staff were not welcoming. They get annoyed when we ask questions. They charge 25DKK/stay to use the kitchen and that is a big turn off for me

The room was clean and comfortable, with a spacious bed and a private bathroom. The location is also ideal, just a short walk from the city centre, which made getting around really easy.

The only issue I had was with the lockers. They were large enough, but a bit confusing to use, and some didn’t close properly.

The room and the bathroom were relatively clean, the bed was comfortable with plenty of space and outlets for your chargers, as well as a small enclosure for privacy. The location was also great, very central.

The app used to open the elevator and the doors did not work consistently, especially on the elevator. There are lockers in the rooms, but you have to supply your own lock, which is mentioned in the description but it would be better to use self-locking ones like in gyms or museums.

Bunks didn't have privacy curtains and the lights were on sensors meaning they would just come on and off.

You can't lock your things in a locker. At least, if you didn't bring a lock. I still don't know whether you can rent a lock at the reception... Oh, and something bit my mom at night in three places. Not a bed bug, though🤔...

The room was pretty tiny, with not much of room to place anything if you are in the first bed especially, besides the lockers. But I believe the pod-like design is pretty widespread in Copenhagen, so nothing new here. I however loved the fact that the bathroom was separate form the toilet and sink. The location was perfect for me as I arrived in Copenhagen by train and the hostel was within 15 minutes walking distance from the train station. The atmosphere is quite lively, even at midnight, making it a great stay if you are a solo traveller. The staff were welcoming as well.

The size of the room was relatively small. The window could not be opened making it a bit stifling in the summer.

Small room, no curtain on beds, you have to pay for the luggage storage after checking out and also for every type of service, breakfast cannot be included in the booking.

Facilities and location are perfect.

People who make phone calls in the bedroom. One of the ladies was watching movies without headphones in the room. I made a complain at the front desk and recommend a notice in the room with the rules. Not everybody has common sense....There are many people who share rooms and think they are in their our apartment.

It was weird that man was accommodated in “female only” room with us and we found out after one night and someone stole our labeled food from fridge but it’s not fault of staff or accommodation…

The services are top notch, the location is perfect, the staff are friendly and the atmosphere is excellent

Very comfortable room, towels were included and it was clean well organized and the best hostel of my trip.

My biggest issue is it seems like the gym and pool aren’t included. They are extra, not much extra but something to keep in mind.

I spent a night here and it was the perfect base for exploring the city on a budget. The common room had a cozy, communal feel, with travelers from all over swapping stories and sharing snacks. 🧼 Cleanliness & Facilities The dorms were clean and well-maintained. Each bunk had a privacy curtain, reading light, and charging port, which was a nice touch. Bathrooms were basic but spotless, and the showers had great water pressure.
