Lack of outside pool. Sun terrace bar not manned in the day. Had to fight to get a kettle tea bags and milk in our suite

Everything was fantastic. Lovely bedroom with huge bathroom. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Excellent brealfast

Room very good as was breakfast and the 2 dinners we had. Staff excellent. Location was reasonable.

Only real fault was the pool area which was not conducive for relaxing

I got upgraded from Junior Suite to a Deluxe Suite and loved it :) I had a great time with my partner and were able to explore the f&b offerings within the hotel

timing for the spa and pool being closed at 6pm makes it a bit difficult to take advantage of those services, would’ve loved to use the spa but we chose to do the afternoon tea service which ended at the time the spa was already closed.

the restaurant downstairs was outstanding - best steak in BA the room was big with plenty of space to store our luggage

the only thing that i would have liked is a coffee machine or kettle in the room

bed was amazing, I work for linen company, Yves delorme and value luxury bedding and found these to be very good.

roof top bar was closed, rather disappointing

Breakfast was OK but they charge for making omelets. this is not logical with the prices we have paid.

great location, lobby staff always available, good security, concierge was excellent, comfortable places to have drinks, breakfast room was beautiful. Matias at the front desk was super helpful and spoke very good English, rooms were large and had everything we needed, very nice

I think it’s one of the nicest places I’ve stayed and since Argentina y devaluarse coin now, it’s also an amazing deal to stay at this place.

The staff were top quality in all areas of the hotel as would be expected — friendly, courteous, and quick to respond to one’s needs. The management has anticipated travelers’ needs so that one does not need to ask for anything missing. We felt at home.

Extremely grand top of the line hotel that did not disappoint in any respect. The hotel itself is modeled after an 18th century European grand hotel and is flawlessly maintained. The entire first floor is fabulous anywhere you look, from the elegant bar to the exquisite restaurant - potentially the best breakfast set up in terms of ambiance we've ever been. Grand, natural light with a fantastic breakfast spread - something for everyone, with impeccably attentive service at every level of staff interaction. Martin the bellman gave us some great tips, the concierge knew what they were doing and worked hard to help us, the massage at the spa was great as were the gym facilities. Typically hotel gyms outside the US are subpar despite the quality of the hotel but this one was great - two nice rooms, very clean and pleasant with all the equipment you need. Our room was a junior suite and was an extremely good value for our money. Lastly the location was perfect. The grandest part of BA replete with cultural institutions a stone's throw away, beautiful parks and plenty of shopping and great restaurants. We will be back.

Wifi was the only subpar experience we had with this hotel.

Having booked through booking.com and agreed a price which clearly stated "including taxes and charges" and then to be charged an extra 21% vat on top plus 4% charge for paying by cash, I am very disappointed and flustrated to have been taken advantage of.

It was beautiful, clean, everyone there was super helpful and ensured you got good service. They took care of little details like ensuring the room had an adapter for international travellers. Definitely one of my best hotel stays.

Alvear is a classic, the hotel facilities are beautiful, but everything you need to be renovated, is. The room was spacious, bathroom could use a renovation but is still charming. service with the concierge was excellent

Great location, beautiful hotel, great spa. The breakfast is delicious, and the atrium is beautiful. The staff is so kind and helpful, and you get amenities right away when you ask over the phone. The gym is also full-size and big, which is rare in older hotels, same as the spa.

The rooms should be painted in elegant and darker colours, rather than all white. White is not a forgiving colour, and the furniture and appliances which imitate 18th and 19th century French style, appear a bit as 'fake' because of the white walls (the gold is not gold leaf, the furniture is obviously more recent than that era, etc). Having darker colours would enhance everything. I would also had light dimmers on the bedrooms chandeliers. They are much too bright and unpleasant when turned on. Having a warmer light and dimmer / dimmable would make the atmosphere much more pleasant, and it would also improve the overall look of the bedrooms, combined with nicer wall colours. The shower heads in the bathroom should also be updated to have rain showers. The bathroom should have cupboards under the sink to store toiletries, at the moment it's just an empty space that doesn't look particularly nice (if you squat to check, you see the plumbing and cheap-looking finishes). The upstairs bar should be open for longer to enjoy it when coming back from a dinner. The indoor pool is a bit too warm, and unfortunately the sun deck was being refurbished when we stayed at the hotel.
