Hotel Oktogon Haggenmacher, Budapest

The space, facilities and the staff were great. The bed was very comfortable for me, I have been travelling Europe the past month and it’s one of the best beds. The sauna and wellness facilities were great.

I really liked the property but I think there are a few improvements that can make it even better. The bathroom only has a shampoo and body gel, it would be nice to have a conditioner, and some extra coffee capsules. The gym facility could have an auto air freshener as it did smell when others were using it.

We loved this property, beautiful setting, location is perfect and the facilities were brilliant.

The room was a really good size. Black out blinds meant we had a great nights sleep. We liked that key access is required to get past reception - made us feel safe. The front of house staff were lovely. Also gave us some good recommendations of places to eat etc.

On arrival, unfortunately as soon as we got out of our taxi, a homeless man tried to sell us a vape. We understand that this is out of the hotels control, however it was not a good first impression, and maybe a doorman would help in these instances. Everything else was great, and we would definitely return to this hotel.

Friendly reception, clean rooms, high ceilings and central location. Absolutely loved the storage room- its the cleanest and most modern one I have seen.

I missed a kettle in the bedroom but they were happy to give us one upon request. They can also add more toiletries to make it feel less like a budget option.

Amazing location, next to metro and tram stations and with walking distance to a lot of tourist attractions, shops, bars and restaurants. The staff was very helpful and polite, providing tips about things to do in the city. Breakfast was good overall. Room was big, clean and comfortable. I would definitely stay again in this hotel..

Excellent location on the main street to Heroes square. Downtown Pest and Buda easily accessible by public transport. Staff were very helpful and they had storage lockers for storing luggage if needed. Breakfast was nice also.

Gym had limited equipment but not a major issue.

One of the nicest hotels I’ve stayed in. Loved the atmosphere and architecture, the bedrooms were very clean, had enough space for luggage and had a place to hang some of our stuff. They had a long length mirror which I sometimes find lacking in hotels, so I appreciated that. They also had a coffee machine as well, with pods provided. The bed and pillows were perfect. All in all we had a very comfortable stay. Would love to stay again.

It wasn’t anything negative but I would have preferred the sink to be inside the bathroom instead of being inside the bedroom. Just never had this set up before so it felt strange.

Location, architecture

I really liked the building and the second room I was given on the second floor. It had the charm of the early 20th century, with high ceilings and even access to a front balcony overlooking a beautiful, elegant avenue. I did have an issue with the first room I was assigned on the first floor. However, the hotel acknowledged my concerns and made a kind gesture to address the situation, which I truly appreciated. This is why I am giving a positive review. The hotel is indeed very beautiful and has a refined, prestigious atmosphere.

The room on the fifth floor was not to my personal taste, mainly due to the large glass ceiling, which I find less comfortable. While some guests may appreciate this feature, others—like myself—might prefer the rooms on the lower floors, which feel warmer and more cosy.

This is a beautiful hotel located perfectly. I am actually sad that i only got to spend a night here but happy to find this nice gem in Budapest for my next trip. Rooms are designed perfectly, high walls, great bathroom... Their breakfast was excellent too.. it has a nice co-working area and a beautiful atrium...

Everything was perfect

So happy to be back to this hotel again. Strategic location, 2-3 minutes to cafe, public transport, shops. Helpful staff, especialy Orsolya. High ceilings rooms, ornamentals corridor, beautiful for Insta shots. Firm mattress comfy pillows, good pressure water, really nice breakfast with self served freshly squeezed orange and grapefruits and we can refill mineral drinking water 24 hours. They provide free locker for our luggages, which really helpful.

Should stayed longer.

Hotel was beautiful inside. It actually smelled very nice too. The choice at breakfast was very good. There wereenough options for most nationalities, and all very freshly prepared.

Location is prime for exploring the city on foot but not directly in the middle of night life which makes for a very restful sleep

Maybe a couple more coffee pods in the room would be nice.

Centre of town easy access to many attractions. Lots of shops and eateries nearby.

Beautiful building with high quality and thoughtful decoration and design. Comfortable beds and lovely bathrooms. Brilliant location walked everywhere but metro stop just outside if you needed it. Staff superb - always helpful and friendly. Peaceful and quiet yet close to all the city action. Great brekkie too!

It was a fantastic stay. Firstly, the entrance and the lobby are really impressive. It's located inside a tenement, and the photos of the place don't do it justice. The staff was very kind and helpful. It was my wife's birthday trip, the hotel staff knew about it and they prepared a welcoming gift for her (a card with birthday wishes, small bottle of champagne and pralines). It was very kind. Our room was facing the street, and we also had access to a balcony. The room itself was spacious enough, clean and comfortable. We made use of the Chromecast on the TV, The location is also great, it's somewhere between the Parliament and the Heroes' Square (around a 10-15 minute walk from both of these places). It also has a metro station nearby.

The only thing we weren't fully satisfied with were breakfasts. Don't get me wrong, they are not bad, they are just average. Scrambled eggs were very dry. But I must point out, that on our last day we weren't able to make it to breakfast (we had an early flight), but the hotel had prepared breakfast boxes for us, with sandwitches, choclate bars, and two bottle of juice.

Everything was excellent. Next to metro so it was easy to travel the city. The staff were outstanding on reception. Could not do enough for you. My room was an economy room as they call it. Not to me it wasn't. Just beautiful overlooking the lobby which is amazing in itself. Double bed ensuite bathroom. Room was larger than most hotels I've stayed in. I cannot recomend this place enough and the city itself is beautiful. Just get on metro or trams and enjoy. I only had 3 days there and didn't see a third of itid say. Price wise is very reasonable too. Cheaper than dublin and .most parts of Ireland now..Once again I loved this hotel and I am going back again as soon as I can. Just perfect.

We had a very enjoyable stay. The bed was a little soft but we loved the design of the room (the bathroom was a cube in the middle of the room, with mirrors all round it creating a feeling of space. There was comfortable seating. Check in and check out went very smoothly. Breakfast was ok - options were a bit limited - and on the last morning, when we went down a little later, the food was dried out and the staff were very intent on cleaning up the dining room, even though there were 45 mins before breakfast was over. Good location for trams etc, making travel around the city super easy.

Breakfast left a little to be desired but overall a very nice few days.

This is a special place. They've really thought through the full guest experience and everything is quick, seamless, and exceeded expectations. From the luggage storage to the co-working space and from the welcoming lobby to the elegantly finished rooms, I can't recommend Oktogon highly enough.

Beautiful, spacious hotel. Double set of windows for perfect sound insulation in rooms. Great location on main street near metro. Great breakfast. Best of all: friendly staff.
