Callas House, Budapest

Grand hotel room with stunning view of the Opera House. Excellent central location to explore the best of Budapest, but still really quiet (had the best night’s sleep). Much more character than staying in a modern hotel.

The location really couldn't have been better. We were so close to fantastic restaurants, cafes and sites. Unfortunately we left going to the Opera House (right next door!) till the very last day, and discovered we could have booked a two-hour tour and performance. We are keen to come back just for this!

The room was a little warm, which meant having to keep the window ajar overnight. This increased the noise level from the road (Andrassy Ut) outside.

We loved the spacious room and how it was beautifully decorated.

Super friendly & helpful staff, location right next to Opera House & the Metro. Wonderful decor - the best hotel we have stayed at on our 2 week trip around Europe. Lovely breakfast served in the cafe below.

Breakfast was very poor, only one option of eggs, for which we needes to wait, one option of ham, and one option of salami. I was excited for breakfast after first night, but was really dissapointed

The property has an excellent location on an elegant boulevard, with a beautiful style both in the hotel and in the restaurant downstairs. The staff was helpful, and everything was clean and comfortable.

Beautiful building in a beautiful location

Maybe a little hot in the superior rooms in the attic ., air con wasn’t too easy to work .A minor complaint though as it had a balcony floor f could get fresh air.

One of the nicest hotels we've ever stayed in. Front desk staff were so friendly, informative and kind. We were upgraded to a suite which was beautiful and very comfortable. Brilliant location which is walking distance from most sites. The bathroom was huge with excellent water pressure, plus a luxurious bath with lovely toiletries. Room was tastefully decorated and the overall building is historic and unique. We were so sorry to leave!

The Callas House has an amazing location, just right next to the Hungarian Opera State House. Also on a famous shopping street. To be honest I booked it due to the old school vibe. The fascinating bathroom, which is reach in copper details, pure design elements. Bright but not too much. The room was spacious, everything what you need for short/long stay comfort. People at the reception desk were superkind and helped with extra request immediately.

Small things are coming where personally I shall improve: - there was no kettle. I missed my evening tea, only coffee machine (Nespresso) was available in the room - selection of breakfast bit poor and boring. Maybe add some sausages, diff cheese ?! Improve on quality of orange juice (it was not fresh and very watery, with lots sugar)

Lovely hotel, enormous room and bathroom. The reception staff were all lovely and very helpful. The room was cleaned nicely each day. Lovely big windows, and nice pictures on the walls. Wonderful deep bath! Breakfast was good, nice to have some hot food options. Great location, handy for buses and metro.

One day we went down 40 minutes before the end of breakfast and several items had already gone, and weren't being replenished. The other days were fine, though. English Breakfast tea bags were used up on our first morning and not replenished, and tea was made by ladling hot water from a pan into your cup, which seemed very strange! There was a jug/pot one day, not sure why it wasn't used every day - maybe it's a Hungarian tradition?! 🤷🏼‍♀️

Wonderful stay. Very helpful staff and comfortable rooms. Location was perfect for accessing the main sites this side of the river. The entrance totally belies the amazing stay that waits inside. 😁😁 Thank you to the team.

For us there was nothing to dislike.

The location was top notch, and the hotel is very beautiful and well designed. We could do everything in walking distance from the hotel. Nearby the beautiful district of the parlement and Liberty Square, and on the opposite side, all the pubs and nightclubs. The room was very spacious and well decorated, the bed very comfortable also. Everything was perfect, the staff was very friendly and polite. The room was cleaned every day. The building is very quiet in general.

The only minor point is the noise from the street. Even if there are double gazed windows, you can still hear the noise from the street as it is an old building, especially the music from the clubs. But it stopped early, around 2am, and only during weekends. It was only because our room was facing the back street with a few clubs and pubs. However, if you have a room facing the front street, I think it is less noisy.

The room is beautiful. We loved the furniture, the comfortable bed, the old-fashioned bathroom. We also had a rooftop terrace which was lovely. This place is slept on.

Loved everything!

Stop looking and book this place. We were upgraded to a 2 bedroom apartment with a roof top terrace with views of the opera house next door. The fittings throughout the whole apartment were 5 star. The bed was comfortable and it was a huge space. We walked everywhere and used the metro which was a few steps from the door when our legs needed a break. The staff were kind and helpful. The breakfast was delicious. You should stay here.

This boutique hotel offers the perfect blend of historic charm and modern comfort. Our room was spacious, spotless, and beautifully furnished over looking the Opera house. The location is excellent for exploring this beautiful city. Breakfast is serviced in the cafe/restaurant downstairs in a very grand looking room. Breakfast was a delicious buffet with plenty of choice and excellent coffee!

Loved the stylish design and cleanliness of the room. They upgraded it for free, as there were spare rooms left during our visit. The reception guy was very hospitable and helpful.

Quirky property right next to the Opera House. Nice area of town and easy walk to most attractions. Breakfast was pretty average but easy enough to find something better for breakfast around the corner. Balcony was a nice addition to have.

Beautiful building and prime location. Clean, quiet and comfortable. The room was a pleasure to stay in, very old world charm. The coffee machine and kettle was a great bonus. Breakfast was served in a cafe in the same building and that in itself was an experience, stunning place.

Everything was incredible, the breakfast was delicious and had a good variety. The room was comfortable and spacious. It had its own coffee maker, and many other thoughtful touches.

There was a small air draft between the windows over the bed and the door, and you can feel it when lying down on the bed underneath the window.

Great location and our room was spacious and very clean. Located in a good district with all of the tourist sights within a 30 minute walk. Staff were so friendly and were very helpful. Particularly liked the in room tea and coffee a fresh bottle if water every day. There are some excellent restaurants within ten minutes of the hotel.

Reception was really helpful and friendly. Bed and private bathroom were good. Location was excellent.

Breakfast at Callas House compare to the Reva Hotel was not as good as there was more variety at Reva.

Wonderful location! The hotel staff made our stay unforgettable. Special thanks to Mr. Mehran at reception — he was incredibly welcoming and even gave us a gift when he saw how tired we were. Housekeeping was one of the best we’ve ever experienced — rooms were spotless, neatly arranged, and they even folded our clothes. Daily room amenities included charging, coffee, tea, and water, with a very reasonable mini bar. Breakfast was good and economical for a small hotel. Our room had a lovely view of the street and the opera. Again Thanks to Mr. Mehran and best housekeepers. Overall, it was the best stay — highly recommended!

The room, the building, staff, everything!

Central location, the rooms are lovely and spacious, comfy bed, room had the added bonus of a coffee machine (restocked daily)and a kettle which you don’t always get abroad. Breakfast is taken in the restaurant downstairs with plenty of variety of both hot and cold items available. Would def stay again. Maybe put a sign on wall as come out of the lift saying Callas House above the small one saying reception this way as it’s not immediately obvious you’ve got right place.

Nothing - if you are expecting a bar there isn’t one unless you go down to the restaurant below which is worth trying for an evening meal. The hotel do provide a selection of drinks to purchase from the fridge in the rooms.

Special thanks to Laslo, the receptionist, he was very friendly and helpful! The room was big with nice decoration and had everything we needed. The breakfast was tasty and plentiful, and the staff were attentive to replenishing it and gave a good service. The hotel is located in a nice area.

The picture of the bar is a bit misleading as not being part of the hotel nor is the breakfast area. You cannot have a drink and put it on the hotelroom number for instance as these are 3 separate "Callas" companies.

Wonderful old world feeling to this hotel. Staff were very friendly and the room was perfect. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Excellent central location helpful pleasant staff. Very clean, very comfortable. Despite being on main road next to all designer shops etc very peaceful & quiet. Lovely cafe next door with friendly attentive staff. We were upgraded on arrival lovely surprise

Breakfast was not great bit basic & lack of choice.not consistent on different days. No rolls (Wednesday & ran out of cheese & Juice & not replaced) Due to Callas being major film location we were sent round corner to another Hotel for breakfast, which was amazing. (Number 12)

Honestly everything. From the staff to the location to the awesome view on the opera, to the interior of the room and hotel. We kept admiring this hotel every single day of our stay in Budapest. You can walk to anywhere from the hotel. The airport shuttle bus is 10 minutes walk. Metro is literally 1 minute. Tram is 5. Would 100% stay here again if I were to visit Budapest in the near future

Super friendly reception - very helpful, and the room was a great size, with a huge bathroom w/ bathtub. Breakfast is served in the mornings next door at a cafe with the same name, but which is apparently not affiliated with the hotel. It was fine, not amazing, but decent.

The bed could use a pillow top for comfort - that was a hard mattress! The hotel is quite odd - it doesn't really feel like a hotel - the entry is a nondescript door, and there are no shared facilities (like a bar, or a restaurant), other than a lobby on the 3rd floor. But the room we had was great!

A wonderful hotel, though not in the traditional sense. There is no classic lobby or waiting area, but you can easily leave your luggage and go explore Budapest. The hotel is very clean, the staff is polite, and there are many thoughtful details that show genuine care for the guests. The mattresses and pillows are very comfortable, which made the sleep especially pleasant. The soundproofing is excellent – even the busy Andrássy Avenue did not disturb the rest. Another lovely detail was the scent in the public areas – an incredible fragrance, perhaps jasmine or something similar. Walking through the hotel felt almost like entering an aroma room. I noticed some reviews saying the breakfast is limited, but in fact it offers everything you need, from savory to sweet.
