Hotel Gerlóczy Rooms de Lux, Budapest

The hotel is an excellent location close to restaurants and attractions. The staff were very friendly and the food is excellent in the restaurant including breakfast.

There is some building work close by but it didnt affect us this time. The hotel has a lot of character which is attractive but could do with some refurbishment.

Everything, the structure is in keeping with the architecture and historic atmosphere of Budapest, not the usual modern but characterless 4-star hotel. Furthermore, the proximity to the bistro restaurant allows you to sit down during the day for breakfast, lunch, or dinner... or simply enjoy a dessert and a lemonade, famous in Budapest, comfortably seated on the Parisian-style terrace.

The lack of blackout on the bathroom's internal window. Our beautiful room was separated from the bathroom by a beautiful Art Nouveau-style frosted glass wall, but in the morning the room is flooded with light.

We had balcony room on 2nd floor with view over small quiet square. The balcony had table and chairs so we could enjoy sitting outside in the evening. Breakfast was a la carte with good selection of both hot and cold (Hungarian/French flavours) served inside or outside restaurant (waiter service). This was included in price if you opted for room and breakfast. Breakfast served until 1200. Hotel was small with just 19 rooms over 4 floors (4 in attic). Great decor in keeping with the date of the building (possibly 1880s). Staff friendly and helpful.

Bathtub with no shower curtain. Bathroom flooded every time we showered. Asked for different room and were told none were available.

Everyone was friendly and professional, they made us feel from the get go that we are in good hands and they didn't under deliver. Food was amazing and the location is superb if you wanted to be in a close proximity to the inner city. Highly recommended...

The location of this hotel was great, within walking distance to many great spots, close to the river and not far from the airport or train station. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly, available around the clock for your needs. Check in was easy and they arranged airport travel. Their restaurant is great as well! I enjoyed it

The property is next to a construction site right now 7/25, and it’s noisy at times. The hotel offers a few concessions but I would ask to be away from the side where the construction is happening. It’s not their fault, and temporary. It is a beautiful hotel.

The location and ambience

We absolutely loved our stay at Gerloczy. From the moment we arrived and were treated with a very early check in to the very pleasant and friendly receptionist. The room was beautiful, exceptionally clean, beautiful decor, with two huge windows. One of the most comfortable hotel beds I have ever slept in. The location is perfect - the whole 4 days we didn't need to use any public transport, as it is central and we could walk everywhere. We will definitely stay again.

The air con is very weak and the room tends to get really hot

Loveeed the location, the peace and quiet of the street but situated right in the center of the city. The hotel is cozy, small, very French vibes, the staff is very friendly and the food is also great!

A really fabulous boutique hotel. Extremely comfortable and quiet. The receptionist was a delight and very informative, particularly about the FREE travel on public transport for Pensioners! Saved a few bob! The location was excellent with many bars and restaurants in walking distance. The restaurant of the hotel was first class too. All in all a most fantastic hotel, highly recommend it.

You need to be aware that a major building project is underway adjacent to the Hotel. They generously offer free Prosecco or desert in compensation. Luckily while we were there no noisy work was undertaken, probably because it was Whitsun week.

We had a lovely stay at the Gerlóczy, the room was excellent, with a lovely bathroom and shower. The breakfast was fantastic as was the service each day. We found the location of the hotel to be perfect too, it was possible to walk to the river and other attractions easily. I would definitely recommend this hotel to friends.

There was some construction noise in the mornings, and the hotel were aware and were prepared to give guests one free drink and dessert in light of this, which was a nice touch.

This hotel has beautiful architecture, the deluxe room was spacious. Quiet location with excellent accessibility to the town centre and the river. The staff are very welcoming and friendly. The food and beverages are to a high quality. A hidden gem.

We changed to a room with a shower! We were surprised the room assigned to us at first had no shower.

The feeling of bygone times. The room was magestic, imposing, so adorable! Location was super! Walking distance from main points of interest. There is an elevador but please try the stairs, they are beautiful!

The employee who received us on the 29th when we arrived at the hotel to do the check in It was as if he was doing us a favor... not at all pleasant. The next day there was a really nice recepcionist

The location is excellent and within easy reach of all the major attractions of Budapest. The restaurant down stairs was excellent . The menu was short but everything on it was well done and the staff knowledgeable. Hotel great with all the extras like shower gel extra.

No separate shower. This is a personal preference but it would be hard for someone to get in and out of the bath to use the hand held shower. Aircon didn't work and we had to sleep with he window open . which was fine but a bit noisy . In the summer it would be very hot.

Location was amazing, could walk everywhere in short time. River Danube is like 5-10 minute walk. Centre of Pest is 5-10 minute walk. EXCELLENT Location. Room was clean. Staff very polite and friendly. Extremely helpful. Highly recommend.

Not that we didn't like it but was just awkward having a telephone shower in a bath tub but we knew this prior to going to the hotel so no problems.

This boutique hotel is located right in the center on a quiet square away from the madding crowd. The hotel is charming with a lovely restaurant and outside terrace, open for breakfast and dinner till 11:00am. The staff are so sweet and it does not have a corporate feel. I would definitely recommend the Gerlozsy especially as it is excellent value as well.

It’s an excellent hotel that could be rated as a 5 stars hotel for the standards. The room was beautiful and comfortable. Great location. The restaurant was also excellent.

The property enjoys a prime, tranquil location on the Pest side of the river, offering a peaceful retreat while still being conveniently close to the city's main attractions—most of which are easily accessible by foot. The room perfectly matched our expectations and was exactly as shown in the photos—clean, comfortable, and well-appointed. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable, showing exceptional friendliness and a genuine willingness to help at all times.

The arrival at the side entrance was a bit shabby and didn't create a good first impression.

Breakfast was definitely perfect. They have a long window to have it: from 7.30 to 12am. Really liked this one cause neither am i nor my partner are early birds. I suggest everyone to include it to their stays if they want to enjoy a nice quality breakfast in a very nice corner of Budapest. Rooms are nostalgic with high ceelings, bed is comfortable. Has nespresso machine in the room which is the perfect way to start your day.

Bath tub needs renewal or at least adjustments. Makes noises and looks dirty because of old adjustements eventhough it was perfectly clean.

A charming small/boutique hotel in a great Budapest location. Easy walking distance to major sites including the Danube River, St Stephen's and Parliament House. Plenty of restaurants nearby - but would highly recommend the in-house restaurant to enjoy a quality food with attentive service. An a la carte breakfast is also served in the restaurant, with individual requests also catered. Our room was reasonably large and comfortable with a balcony and an open view overlooking a quiet street and pedestrian-only areas. The bathroom was well equipped with plenty of hot water for the shower. The reception and restaurant staff were very welcoming and friendly. Overall, a very pleasant stay for several days. Highly recommended over larger, impersonal hotels.

We stayed at the most charming little boutique hotel in Budapest and absolutely loved it! The atmosphere was cozy and stylish, with thoughtful touches that made it feel really special. One of the absolute highlights was the breakfast—it was hands down the best I’ve ever had at a hotel. Everything was fresh, beautifully presented, and so delicious we looked forward to it every morning. The location couldn’t have been more perfect—central enough to walk or hop on a tram to everything we wanted to see, but tucked away just enough to feel peaceful and quiet. The only minor downside was that the room had a bath but no shower, which wasn’t a huge issue for us but worth mentioning if you prefer a quick rinse over a soak. All in all, a gorgeous little place I’d return to in a heartbeat!

The location of the Gerlcozy is central to the town of Pest. The River Danube is a 5 minute walk, the Central Square is 15 minutes and the Jewish Quarter 15 minutes. All easy walking distance. The food in the Restaurant was excellent as were the Staff
