Hotel Gerlóczy Rooms de Lux, Budapest

I have already submitted a review about the lovely atmosphere and style of this place, the central location, the delicious breakfast – I’d just like to add praise for Donat’s work at the front desk who has done an excellent job to help me with everything during my stay

I’ve been returning to this place repeatedly - perfect location, special atmosphere and a nice restaurant. The staff is also very helpful, special kudos to Zsolt for doing an excellent work at the front desk

Room equipment is a bit dated, but it somehow adds to the charm

The hotel is charming. The breakfast is a delicious work of art, so much so that we opted to have lunch here too on one day and it was great. The staff are so friendly and helpful. Sjolty (reception) was super helpful. The location is very central to all public transport, including the airport bus. We loved it. Highly recommend.

There’s a renovation underway for the building next door, which is very noisy and they start quite early (around 7am). It didn’t bother us at all as we were planning on being out and about early, but it might be annoying if you wanted to sleep in.

The location is in the central of Budapest, close to many restaurants,,convenient stores, supermarkets and major attractions. The hotel is beautiful and looks luxury. Staffs were attentive and polite. The cafe menu is delicious expecially the desserts.

On my first night after done my shopping and sightseeing (about 8pm) my access card unable to use to open the room even the reception use the master access card. I was told to wait about 1 hour plus for the technician to arrive and fix it. After 1 hour plus I try again and still unable to open the room. Imagine the frustration as I was tired , had a bad flu and really want to have a rest, I guess the reception could notice me from the cctv and he was quickly ran to my room and try to use the master access card and suddenly it was successful. The next day, they gave me a new set of access card which already formatted as I was afraid it could happened again. The Indian Recep was extremely polite and really apologised for what happened. The next shift reception was also informed of my issue and was really helpful. I was offered a free breakfast throughout my stay even I told them i don’t need it. However my stay was not affected by this issue. The hotel is really beautiful and I don’t mind stay again whenever I come back to Budapest.

Very chic interiors and felt luxurious. Welcomed with a bottle of processor on the house and catered to our requests very well.

Hotel staff entered our room at 11pm. Whilst it was a mistake and he apologised for the mix up it was still unnerving.

The staff were the best thing at this hotel, so helpful and friendly, very quick and efficient when I asked for anything. They made the trip an excellent experience.

Towels in the bathroom were too small, 2 x towels I would use for the head & hair, not big enough for showering imo. However the staff brought me 2 extra towels and the problem was solved!

The property is in the perfect location, so close to downtown but just far away enough for peace and quiet at night. The rooms are comfortable, lovely high ceilings and lots of character! The staircase in the hotel is stunning! Really friendly and helpful staff, Donat helped us with information of where to go, always friendly. I would recommend staying here, if you like something that is full of character, then this is the place for you. I will definitely book here again.

Not much choice for Breakfast and quite limiting.

I strongly appreciated this hotel: its very particular and original atmosphere, its design, all the comfort and facilities and the very kind and helpful steaff. The hotel is situated in an excellent location, easy to reach by public transport, close to many nice things to visit and in the same time very quiet. The hotel has also a sympathic restaurant/café.

This is the most fantastic hotel we have ever stayed in. Very central location near the metro and bus to the airport and within walking distance of mamy of the things we wanted to explore. The quality of the room ws very high and the staff were lovely and friendly. Zsolti in particular was very helpful and professional and allowed us to store our luggage on the morning of our departure. The food was exceptional and the ambience of the bar very relaxing with piano and violin being played on Saturday and Sunday evenings.

Nothing to dislike

The Hotel is really close to the city center, like only 3-5 minutes walking. There you can reach all the transportation mode, visit so many restaurants and shop, and also visit lots of historical buildings in Budapest. Really really recommended for all the travelers from another country. The staff is really helpful, we are so thankful for that. Thank u ❤️

Lovely character

It was so full of character - a really beautiful building with so many quirky details. We loved the cafe/restaurant too. Felt thoroughly spoiled staying here.

The stay here was wonderful. It is a wonderful hotel and centrally located. The staff were excellent, especially Zsolti. We could not commend Zsolti enough. He went above and beyond in ensuring we had what we needed, knew where we were going and was always kind and courteous. Whilst the hotel was great, there was definitely a sense that Zsoltu made the hotel a great experience. Zsolti even went above and beyond and tried to help me solve a time sensitive transport issue.

The stay was good and so nothingn not to like.

Very boutique. But had everything you would require. Not a large hotel but that was not an issue. Room was perfect. If we come back definitely will stay there again. Even got a little box of chocolates on departure.

The staff was extremely helpful and service minded. The location was brilliant.

Loved how everything looks and feel classic, vintage and luxurious. Details of the amenities were beautiful, bed was very comfy, the complimentary cakes and champagne was so extra in a good way. The place looks more beautiful than in photos. Great location too, would love to stay here again.

Bathroom was a bit cold from the windows

Loved the authentic decor and character of the building. The staff were very helpful and attentive. We were there in December so the heated flooring in the bathroom was a bonus. The location was perfect and the menu of the restaurant was brilliant. We only have great things to say about the hotel.

Location was very good,close to trams which will get you everywhere and close to bus for airport. Building works are adjacent to hotel and we were warned abouth this in advance. We were offered free refreshments in advance of our stay to make up for the noise which we never received. Restaurant is very good for dinner and breakfast. We were llucky to be offered early check in which was very appreciated. Rooms were cosy and warm,free water every day.

We were informed building works would be between 8.am to 4.00pm ,we never received or were told about any free rereshments promised in advance of our booking! One morning,work started at 6.00am! Staff in restaurant did'nt seem happy after I asked about the 15% service charge on bill, I think they were expecting additional tip.

Traditional elegance, with 14 foot ceilings in the rooms, including the bathroom! Lovely restaurant, and very friendly and helpful staff.

Shower was a little low for a six foot or taller person.

The breakfast in the cafe downstairs is really exceptional. The room had such a high ceiling and a balcony overlooking a romantic Square, and a remarkably and surprisingly good Irish pub. No noise disturbance though.

Everything was really good so I'm not going to complain about anything.

The property is beautiful and the restaurant and food and wine are perfection The best part is the staff. They went out of their way to solve my travel problems and make us feel welcome and safe

Really cool attic room. Full of character!

Very beautiful hotel. Our attic room was cozy with enough space to relax and spread out. The bathroom tiles were always warm which was awesome in winter. The staff were super friendly. Delivered us memory foam pillows, robes and a sewing kit when requested. Housekeeping was spot on too. Don’t skip the restaurant downstairs. Quaint and vibey, very cool. We got in late and had some yummy soup before bed. Couldn’t recommend this hotel enough.

We loved our room so much we didn’t want to leave. Instead spent hours in the room rather than sight seeing.

​We had a wonderful stay, but what impressed us most was the staff's kindness. When they found out my husband had caught a cold, they thoughtfully brought tea directly to our room without us even asking. It was such a warm, personal touch that you don't see often. The room was cozy, the service was top-notch, and we felt truly cared for. Highly recommended!

The location coulnt be better!!!! The design of the hotel is amazing!! The staff was so helpfull and friendly The breakfast is in the restaurant under the hotel -it felt like little Paris.

We have just had a 5 night stay and cannot recommend this hotel high enough. The location is excellent and the staff were so friendly, helpful and welcoming that this just added to the whole experience of our visit to Budapest. A special shout out to both Anett and Ricsi for their outstanding service. We will definitely be returning.

Fantastic location and very friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was great and served to you. We left early on our last day and asked for a snack to go. It was first class and very filling.

Absolutely loved this hotel. The room was so cute in its uniqueness and old fashion charm. The location couldn’t be better. Even walked with our luggage the five minutes to the airport bus stop. It’s also really close to a central metro location which we used a lot. Plus of Course close to the Christmas Market, many attractions including the Old Synagogue.

If you have mobility issues the bed on a pedestal might be difficult.

Gerlóczy Boutique Hotel is a charming, relatively small property in a perfect location in Pest. It is quiet, yet only a three‑minute walk from the famous Váci Street. The hotel staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The restaurant beneath the hotel serves an excellent breakfast (à la carte rather than buffet), and we also enjoyed a very good dinner there one evening.

Hotel Gerlóczy has a unique atmosphere and a fabulous vibe. Beside the beautiful building, the cordial hospitality of the staff (both at the hotel and at the resturant) made our stay excellent. Location cannot be better, you are at the heart of the city centre without the noise of traffic. The interior design of the buliding and rooms is classy and stylish to the smallest details. The breakfast was wonderful - definetely recommended to book your stay with it. Please try the dinner here as well because it is a whole experience. Live music, top quality food and the warmest, kindest staff you will find in Budapest - no kidding. Thanks again Gerloczy team! Looking forward to meet you again soon!

The location is very good. We were able to go to all the tourist sites by foot. The room was ready as we got to the hotel, and the staff are very kind and willing to assist and advise with any recomendations

Staff are available, but the reception isn't always manned (there is a bell to call the receptionist)

The location is superb, size and comfort of the room were good. Meals generously excellent in the restaurant. There is coffee machine in the room, which is a huge advantage compared to any other hotels, u don't have to run around and back to ur room at morning, if u know what I mean.

Very centrally located, beautiful quaint rooms, pleasant staff

I chose the hotel for it's location in the old twon of Pest and its proximity to the River Danube, both of which worked out well. The room was interesting and full of character. The breakfast was excellent and the staff were cheerful and helpful throughout. Thoroughly recommended.

The noise from the Roddy Doyle Pub opposite on the last night, which was, of course, not the fault of the hotel. There was also a deal of construction in an adjacent site, but we were notified of this by the hotel prior to arrival and offered a free glass of wine ea h day in compensation.
