The Kendall Hotel, Boston

Location! Nice history and decoration. Friendly staff. Quiet.

It felt like every time (different times of day) we got off the elevator or came out of our room, a housekeeping person was there with a cart or garbage bags or…. Not a lot of room in the hall, and they were friendly and have important work, and we were located near the elevator, but it wasn’t as pleasant as it might have been.

Liked the vibe of the hotel and the room was really nice. Extremely clean.

The mattress was so soft that my husband and I spent the night rolling in towards the middle. I finally got up at 5am because I couldn't sleep. That needs to be fixed! Room 311.

Decorated with care and detail - warm and inviting - breakfast was delicious. Loved to walk into my room to find apples, brownies and water.

Nicely furbished rather cozy hotel close to MIT in old firefighter house (ans much bigger annex) I still know from my time as postdoc at MIT. Very friendly staff. I will come back.

The breakfast could have been a bit better.

I like the decor, the rooms are comfortable, and the location is close to the subway. There are lots of eateries in walking distance. There is floor security. The elevators require your key card to be swiped to use the elevator to go up.

I don't remember being impressed by the breakfast. It is was ok. Better than many, but that isn't too hard lately. I was disappointed with the drink service. The water/juice cups were tiny. Had to be less than 8 oz. If you were looking to hydrate in the morning with a big glass of water, it wasn't happening. The coffee cups were likewise on the smaller side.

Beautiful decorations, well kept up close to MIT downtown Boston. Yummy breakfast included.

Would have loved A/C or a thermostat (or even a box fan) in room. The room did get muggy due to no A/C and it was hot outside. But we get that it's an older building. Otherwise room/stay was great.

The Kendall is a charming former firehouse in an excellent location (right next to the MIT Museum and a subway stop) in Cambridge. We had a spacious room with two queen beds that were exceptionally comfortable. The staff was accommodating and friendly. When we first arrived, one of the staff brought us apples, giant chocolate chip cookies, and bottled water, a lovely gesture. The decor follows the firehouse theme but is not excessive. We easily got taxis or Ubers to the museums and sites we wanted to visit in both Boston and Cambridge. Very good restaurants are in easy walking distance, Row 34 is right next door and the delectable Batifol (authentic French bistro) six minutes' stroll. There is onsite parking.

I have a problem with ambient light and there was a lot of it in our room at night, both through the curtains and from under the door (which I blocked with a folded towel). There is only one chair and desk, and working while seated on a bed is a challenge. The breakfast room (the former Black Sheep restaurant) doesn't have enough tables and chairs when many guests are eating, and you end up sitting on a sofa with your food on a coffee table. The subterranean garage's access is very steep and most of the spaces are tight, with (understandably but regrettably) lots of columns to maneuver around.

Breakfast buffet had lots of options! From eggs and potatoes to salsa and tortillas. Wide bread selection. Room was extremely clean. Check in and check out was a breeze. Close to the T for easy transportation.

We had a fabulous room with an extremely comfy bed! The noise was so quiet from other guests despite it being a really full stay.

It was a perfect place for us to be based for walking all over the city and would absolutely stay here again!

So much to love! I have stayed at many places in Cambridge over the past seven years and this hotel is the very best. Well maintained and comfortable hotel that feels like home from the moment you walk through the lobby. Rooms are very well appointed and extremely comfortable. My husband loved the breakfast buffet, he could get a great breakfast while I could stick to my yoghurt. Plenty of options. Coffee was excellent. Fabulous location at MIT, near the Charles River and at the T —easy to get to Harvard Square or Boston. We will definitely be back.

The uber pick up / drop off location instructions should be clear mentioned by the property. Uber location is automatically routed to the Kendall/ MIT subway pickup.

Room are clean, spacious with adequate amenities. Great and easy check in and check out process.

Space for breakfast has limited seating, you may find yourself strap for table, but not a major obstacle.
Parking is a challenge if you are coming with oversize vehicle, but that's true for most of Boston and areas.

I had a wonderful stay at The Kendall Hotel in Cambridge, MA. This historic property, formerly a firehouse, has been beautifully restored and maintains a charming and unique atmosphere. The interior decor is tasteful and full of character, adding to the overall experience.
The location is excellent—right next to the Kendall/MIT subway station, which makes it easy to get around Boston and Cambridge. The staff were consistently professional, friendly, and courteous, always ready to help with a smile.
Our room was spacious, clean, and comfortable, and the complimentary breakfast was delicious and generous. From start to finish, our experience at The Kendall Hotel was truly enjoyable. I would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting the area!

There was no suitable space to unload luggage at the hotel.

We loved the interior, cozy and lovely sofas.
Close by to transportation and the campuses, it was a convenient location for us. In fairer weather a walk to the Boston Commons area would be great but it was hot so we took the nearby underground. Room was very quiet.

The ventilation was rather loud but it didn’t bother us that much. We stayed in a room with a large kitchen, but there was one pan, no cooking utensils. Also cups/plates just 4 each - we didn’t cook during our stay because there were nice places to eat and good breakfast is included and nearby supermarkets have a large hot meal section, but if you arrive and do expect to cook a bit for kids or other reasons you might be in for a surprise.
