Mama Shelter, Bordeaux

Superb location and excellent variety of food at breakfast. Room and general amenities clean and well maintained. Generous windows that open fully to ventilate the space. No noise heard from bar.

Air con did not function well - just produced hot air (poor location and circulation) resulting in an extremely warm room* . Owing to hot weather, rooftop bar/restaurant was closed for 2/3rds of our stay. Rooms lack tea/coffee facilities but Inc a microwave which is slightly redundant.
* stay during Aug 2025 heatwave so may be anomaly.
Street noise very audible (3rd floor) on thur night/early Friday morning.

Staff is great. Upon arrival we got an upgrade for our room. A pleasant surprise. The room is equipped with a fridge which came in quite handy. The is a cool rooftop bar where you can enjoy a drink or two with a cool view. The room itself is pretty basic.

I thought the hotel offered private parking, but you have to park your car in a public carpark.

The rooms were nice and clean, and the rooftop bar was fantastic. Great location, very good value for the price. Staff was friendly and there's always someone at reception.

The breakfast was a bit pricey and disappointing.

The room was very nice and clean, uncluttered but not too sparse and I loved the fun wall colors and decorations. The front desk staff were very helpful and kind.

The service at the hotel bar was not great.. they were out of a lot of things on their food menu and were not helpful at all when we asked what they DO have available. We also had to wait a very long time once we did manage to place an order, and they wouldn’t even make eye contact with us when we went to the bar to ask what was going on w our order.

The location was great for exploring the old city.

Getting there by car is very confusing especially when we didn’t get the email about how to access the closed street. We drove in circles for considerable time before figuring it out. Next day our code to get in the city center was invalid and we couldn’t reach the hotel by phone. Getting into the garage was a test of both skill and patience.

No tea coffee or water nor shampoo in room or bathroom. No advice saying breakfast included. Note in room would be helpful saying all these things available to be brought up by staff

Comfortable, funky design

Had a nice funky vibe and a nice rooftop bar. The staff were very helpful and informative. The bed was large and comfortable with many alternatives for lighting effects.

Being in the old town it is inaccessible to Uber-like transportation but taxis can get to it. The tram stations are a bit of a walk if you're over 70. The music is often too loud in the morning and at dinner.

Fun vibe. Good music. Liked how the tall tables lighting made the space feel more intimate despite being in a huge room.

Microwave- what purpose does it serve? No way to use it in your room no cups, coffee, utensils etc.

Brunch was expensive for what it was. Food quality was low for the price.

I liked the communal space on the entrance level. It felt very welcoming at all times. Our room was very small but had everything you need. The location is very central in Bordeaux and made it very easy to walk all over town. There were plenty of eating opportunities near by. We also had dinner and breakfast at the Mama Shelter and it was good. I would consider staying in other Mama Shelters in the future.

I don't think that anything needs improving.

The deco is surprising when you enter the hotel but the room is very comfortable, clean and quiet. The staff is extremely polite and very professional. The location is excellent in a nice area of Bordeaux. I recommend this hotel 100%

Parking is virtually inaccessible due to the one-way system. Had to use a public car park reasonably nearby.

The location of the hotel is fantastic - right in the heart of the city yet very quiet at night. The rooftop bar was a fantastic bonus and the staff were all very friendly.

There aren't any tea/coffee facilities in the room. That is the only negative I found.

Our room on the 3rd floor, nr. 314, had a fantastic large window with beautiful view on old roofs and sky, with trillions of swallows flying agains light blue background - amazing, this window right in front of the bed! The shower was great: strong water jet, no leaking into the bathroom. 'Real' soap. Breakfast on the roof: beautiful view, nice atmosphere, good food (self-made veggy juice appreciated) and sympathetic staff.

For two guests, not enough towels. Also, it would be nice to find Kleenex box and mineral water.

We wanted three single beds but ended up with a double and a single. The room was tight for three people

The hotel has nice design and interesting concept. The rooms were clean, and the breakfast was great. Free infusion water at reception. It has a rooftop bar.

Sometimes I thought we spoke with the personnel on different languages, they seemed a bit laid-back and sometimes ignorant.
