Expert reviews

Lonely Planet review:

“Step into this fabulous chambre d’hôte and be wowed by period furnishings mixed with contemporary design, extravagant decorative touches and an atmospheric courtyard garden.”

Telegraph review:

“The name is a little pun in French: L’hôtel Particulier not only means ‘grand townhouse’, it can also be read as a ‘very special hotel’. True on both counts; it’s a laid-back, very distinctive hideaway that’s great for seeing the sights of the city.”

I’d come back!

Great location, large room. Very nice bed and shower. Pleasant, helpful staff.

Overhead lighting in the room was very poor. No bedside tables. Rather dreary breakfast room, with limited food choices.

All in all - really cool hotel with a relaxed vibe !

Position, relaxed (slightly Bohemian) vibe, room styling, breakfast.

Bit disappointing that no-one had thought to chill or put on ice the bottle of champagne that I had requested be left in our room on arrival.

An incredibly beautiful hotel! Rooms are stunning felt so relaxing! We wished we had booked longer.

The property is superb! Architecture is beautiful. High ceilings and doors, everything is breathtaking. We loved the room. Stayed in a suite called St Emillion and it was fantastic. Two bedrooms, bathroom and seating area with beautiful glass stained windows. Loved the mini fridge and crystal wine glasses, felt very relaxed.

All great.

Can't wait to return

This is a charming property in a great location BUT it's the TEAM that make it exceptional . The personal attention is so unusual to find these days . NOTHING was too much trouble ... outstanding . I hope to return

I cannot find a fault with this exceptional stay

Comfortable hotel near cathedral

The location is central, the room is bright and nicely furnished, the bed is comfortable, the shower box is roomy. The elevator helps with the luggage. The big underground parking is 2 min walk away.

The elevator box is too small for 2 adults with suitcases. The room does not have a coffee/tee option.

A lovely hotel with great character and the perfect location

Location is the main advantage of this hotel - it’s central to all the main sights and experiences in Bordeaux. The hotel staff were friendly and accommodating and the cleanliness of the room was outstanding - have never had the bathroom floor washed twice in a week before. The suite we were in was lovely, spacious and with great character.

The breakfast was not brilliant - a bit under-provided and expensive - we tried it once but found breakfast in the town all other mornings.

Fabulous

Amazing and luxurious room in a wonderful and central location. Instead of breakfast at the hotel we went round the corner to a great little boulangerie - better value and more fun!

Everything was great

We had a lovely time. A suite adds so much to a family stay. The lady at reception was really lovely and helpful.

It is a lovely traditional building around a central courtyard. The decoration is traditional and interesting and well done. There is a lift with a staircase winding around it.

Great experience. We will come back if the second room or similar is available

Room size, bed size and quality, cleanliness, beautiful decor in the rooms, excellent service with a smile, individual attention, location superb.

The first room we stayed in with a terrace had the toilet almost inside the bedroom and the shower had been actually inside the bedroom with very little privacy. The second room we moved to was just perfect.

Excellent, we had a lovely stay thank you!

We stayed in the Pomerol suite which was huge and beautiful. Loved the quirky bathroom! Bed was very very comfortable and the room was spotless. Absolutely fantastic location, so easy to get tram to/from airport and also in town centre so we could walk everywhere once there. Would definitely stay again.

Nothing!

A very authentic and attractive hotel in a fantastic location. The minor issues that keep it from being perfect are most

A lovely hotel within a converted mansion - when you find it! Our top tip is to set GPS to head straight for the Pey Berland car park and proceed on foot with luggage - it’s only a couple of minutes walk from the Monoprix exit. Very nice rooms and comfortable rooms although a bit noisy at breakfast time in the room adjoining the breakfast room.

The hotel is really lovely and the staff very helpful. However in terms of value for money a daily bottle of free water would have been welcome. We would have appreciated more dry towels. No hot drinks in the room but there is coffee and tea, fruit and biscuits available all day however in the morning the Nespresso machine is not available which is when the coffee would be most appreciated. The lift keeps getting stuck because guests don’t shut the gates properly which means that disabled guests are stranded if they cannot manage stairs.

A magical place to stay in Bordeaux

OMG, this was the most amazing hotel room I have had the luxury of staying in. I was absolutely floored when I walked into this beautiful French apartment, I hardly wanted to leave it. There was so much space and openness that I didn’t know what do with myself. The balcony was a gorgeous addition to sit on and watch the sunset over the Cathedral. The bed was superbly large and comfortable. The bathroom was lovely and chic with great soaps and lotions to use. The location was fantastic too, everything was so close and in walking distance that you barely had to go far for any walking tours, cafes, restaurants or monuments. I would recommend anyone to stay here. I loved it.

A brilliant choice in beautiful Bordeaux.

Loved our stay at Hotel Particulier. Situated in the perfect location in beautiful Bordeaux. The rooms are gorgeous - we stayed in two and both were overlooking the main street at the front with lovely views and filled with light. Each rooms was very spacious with stylish decor and super comfy beds which made for a truly wonderful stay. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, and happy to assist with any questions we had. Just loved it!
