Shangri-La Kerry Hotel, Beijing

The room was outdated, concier were rude and unhelpful and twice as expensive as other hotels. Not what I would expect from Shangri-La property. However the gym was great as well as the restaurant.

I don’t like the property and will not book this hotel anymore.

Lack of internet stability, reception was not friendly.

I have only ever resorted to complaining formally 3 times in my life The events of the last 3 days compel to bring to your attention some of the worst service I have experienced anywhere. Two people who travelled with me and stayed there on my recommendation thought the hotel was substandard. I have been travelling to Beijing for years now. I nearly always stay in the Kerry. Great location, great room layout, the executive club is excellent, food is always great as well as the service. Not this time Firstly, The executive floor had lots of children in there eating and running around and were very noisy. On three occasions one boy knocked my table as he was running past and orange juice was spilt Of course families have the right to use the lounge and there plenty of well behave children. I know it is school holidays. here, and I am not reply complain about this issue. Secondly The staff in the executive lounge are always helpful and particularly polite. I DO NOT want this person to get in trouble as she was nice to me on many occasion over the last week. I needed to extend my stay by one night. I want to the desk and asked her to get me a room for one more night. She said I had to log on to my computer to book the room for the night, she could do it because I had booked my room through Booking . Dot Com!!! Third We spent thousands of dollars in the Lobby bar (Centro) on drinks and food. On one day I spent 10 minutes trying to explain to a waiter that I wanted two glasses of red wine. We had the wine list and already had two glasses and it took 10 minutes for him t understand. On another day it took 40 minutes to get a drink.there were about 20 people in the bar. IT WAS NOT THE GIRLS FAULT. She was on her own and was actually running around the bar trying to get to people as quickly as possible. She was on her own doing food, drinks serving and cleaning. Hotel was better than expected and we would love to come back to Kerry Hotel. We took the club room which meant there was a breakfast buffet, afternoon tea, and happy hour included in the price. this was excellent value for money. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful, from the porters to the concierge to the staff in the restaurant. Rosalie even remembered my coffee order every morning :) room is super spacious and comfortable. Also quiet and central enough location. Overall, hotel is incredible and we loved our stay.

Decent hotel, but older building that is looking a bit worn in the corners here and there. The cleaning staff was quite loud slamming doors and talking kinda loud in the hallway, made it difficult to take a nap before noon after long flight, but the evening and night was quiet and no problem.

Wonderful facilities - food, drinks, gym, pool. Staff were really friendly and helpful.

Fantastic hotel for visiting Beijing especially with kids as its location and facilities are top notch. Rooms are spacious and well appointed. We got the deluxe double with mini bar and it was more than enough for a couple and 6 year old. Shower and bath were amazing, view was stunning, DiDi’s know where it is and you can jump in them off street.

Only issue we had with the hotel was a couple of reception staff members didn’t make us feel welcome. There was one older lady who was brilliant and went out of her way to help us when we wanted to send postcards and go for walks but a couple of guys behaved as if we perhaps weren’t meant to be there, perhaps not rich enough or something but it was noticeable. It wasn’t a language barrier thing either as there were others who spoke no English but were courteous and tried their best to communicate with us but just a couple of guys didn’t live up to the hotels high standards.

Staff was not clear on why 1500 was charged on card instead of the lower amount I saw on booking.com that was supposed to include fees and taxes already. They explained that the balance should be returned to me at check out. At this time of writing, I have not received the balance amount back to my card yet. Fridge was not cold but the staff who came to look at it explained that it was supposed to be like that - pretty unacceptable. The bathroom door also could not be locked but I didn’t bother to ask for help after the fridge issue and response. Wifi instructions were also not clear. Wifi was not working throughout my stay, I had to use my own data plan.

The staff was friendly and helpful. The food selection was good and worth it to book club. the room was spacious and well equipped. Very clean hotel.

There should at least be one person in hotel and restaurants that can speak English.

The staff are all very attentive and helpful. From the reception, the business center, and the housekeeping.

On my booking confirmation, it says there would be a coffee maker in my room. But there wasn't. Called to check and I was told only some certain rooms have the facilities. I was offered free coffee by the restaurant. However, it would be easier if I could make my own.

The WIFI was very poor and didn't always work. Compared to a similar hotel in Shanghai, the experience was very poor. As I was working on the trip, I would expect to have a full and continuous WIFI service. This was not the case, it was not good

Room is beautiful and huge. Bed was comfortable. Hotel staff were courteous and friendly especially the housekeeping and concierge staff. Hotel is in a great location in cbd. The hotel is connected to malls, making it easier to dine and shop indoor when the weather is not so good.

Pillows were a bit too soft for me.

I liked the Kerry hotel, it has a lot to offer. Great access to the business, shopping, restaurants area, excellent Dragonfly wellness center (famous in China ), and great fitness and swimming facilities (25m swimming pool) the room and bathroom were clean and well-organized, although a bit small (bathrooms) the breakfast is great, has a selection to please many tastes the staff was very friendly Location is unbeatable, beautiful park area in a walking distance, major streets and driveways. Definitely a choice for business travellers!

Chose this hotel based on experience of the Kerry Parkside in Pudong several years ago, and was expecting the same cool-casual vibe. It turned not to be like that at all. Nothing wrong with the hotel or service, just not what we were expecting. Have since stayed at Jen Hotel in Shenzhen which was exactly what I thought Kerry Beijing would be like, so now confused about Shangri La's brand positioning of Kerry vs Jen in China. Could not connect to wifi in room. F&B in the lounge were really disappointing.

Great breakfast with a rich choice of multicultural dishes. Club rooms were also served breakfast in a separate area, where a tea party and evening meal were served. A nice location in a business district near subway. Large clean rooms amaizing toilet equipment.

During our stay there was taking place some organized activity which resulted in some incovenience. Security check was arranged at the entrance which caused additional time and efford to enter the hotel. The choice of dishes for breakfast was minimized to a poor set of standard meals.

Warm welcome, speedy check in and out. Gym and pool facilities were excellent.

Bathroom a bit dated, welcome fruit and inclusive mini bar were basic. Breakfast quality was ok but could be better for 5*. Tea and coffee was fairly poor quality. I'm not convinced the hotel is good value for money.

Booking.com did not make payment, and then there was a misunderstanding between me and the staff when I checked out.

Superb service in every department. Breakfast had an excellent selection to please all tastes and the reception staff were extremely courteous. I cannot recommend this hotel strongly enough and I looking forward to my next visit!

Staff went above and beyond to make the stay comfortable and memorable! From before you walk through the doors, to packing your things into a van to leave, the staff are there every step of the way to make your stay relaxing. The location is perfect for quick, walkable access to many spots around Chaoyang district

If I had to dig for something I didn't like, the east facing windows can get warm, but the curtains do a great job at keeping the room temperature comfortable.

The best two things were the fitness center and the location. The fitness center is HUGE and has a lot of good equipment and weights. It was very spacious and I always could find a machine or set of weights - I never felt crowded there. There is also a pool and full steam/sauna facilities, very large locker rooms. In terms of the location, it is walking distance from the new CBD (where my offices are located), and just about a block from the World Trade Center with its gigantic mall and several hotels. It is even biking distance from Sanlitun or Tiananmen. The staff were really nice as well...after a couple of days, the waiters in the restaurant and the concierge who called my cabs recognized me and said "hello" to me personally.

There were a lot of families with children there. The breakfast was an assembly line of people and I didn't like that I had to buy breakfast with my room. I would have preferred to go across the street to a coffee shop for a coffee than navigate the mass lines in the hotel coffee shop. I also didn't woke the entertainment (television) selection. There were few English channels and the ones they had were not good.
