Architects Carlos Ferrater and Joan Trias de Bes meticulously preserved the symmetrical, imposing facade, while completely reimagining the spatial flow inside.
Instead of a traditional entrance, guests arrive via a dramatic, floating ramp that acts like a modern drawbridge, leading from the bustling street directly into a sun-drenched central atrium. This striking opening replaces the bank’s old imperial staircase, welcoming you into a serene oasis that feels entirely removed from the city’s frantic pace.
The hotel’s interior DNA belongs to renowned Spanish designer Patricia Urquiola. She brilliantly juxtaposed the building’s stark, financial past with warm, delicate textures, hand-woven carpets, and custom avant-garde furniture. In a beautiful nod to the building’s heritage, the popular Banker’s Bar features a ceiling and walls completely lined with the original steel safety-deposit boxes.
Even the wellness spaces lean into this playful adaptation. The ultra-minimalist, 1,000-square-meter subterranean spa and its indoor pool are uniquely carved out of the bank’s former armored vault, offering a deeply quiet and historical retreat.

All in all, the attitude of the staff makes this a good experience
I liked the attitude of the staff. Especially (the intern from netherlands), who was very welcoming and gave us a fantastic tour of the facilities.
I had moderate rating for the hotel itself compared to the branches in london; as they had more amenities and unique items in the rooms there.
Unfortunately, there were some insects in the toilet. The rooms isolation was also not good as i was hearing every noise on the streets and the hallways.
I also LOVED that there was a water sprinkler in the toilet. But it was leaking when used.
And i hoped to receive some discount as MO fan for staying in various other branches but it was not possible as it was booked through booking.

Our stay was delightful from start to finish.
The service was exceptional, informed , proactive , engaged and very present without being overbearing.The amenities were excellent , with the food options being incredible with ambience , service and quality from the rooftop to the bar and the main dining being 5 star. The physical location and building were perfect.
I cannot critic any thing from arrival to departure as anything but 5 star.

The hotel was in a great location that was easily walkable to many of Barcelona‘s monuments with an easy walking distanc
The staff were extremely courteous, knowledgeable, professional and really seemed interested in making our experience, exceptional.
The property was very underwhelming. Very small lobby which didn’t convey the feeling of it being a luxe five star GL hotel.

Luxurious - but can feel stuffy at times
Location is great. Breakfast was fabulous.
They didn't have an iron or steamer to use in the room. You could only send items off to be pressed - at a charge. This was an issue as we were in a rush.
Service in the bar was extremely slow for simple drinks such as two beers.

Best hotel in Barcelona!
Breakfast was fantastic, huge variety of stuff on buffet plus menu of a la carte options such as crepes or avocado toast. All really fresh and tasty.
The little details sometimes added the wow factor. The maid tidied our charger cables away with Mandarin Oriental cable tidies and left MO bookmark for us. Fresh fruit and chocolates laid out and even a bottle of cava to say happy birthday.
Location is phenomenal, would recommend El Nationale nearby for a light bite and a drink when you arrive :)

The Mandarin is a step above many other hotel brands.
Staff are exceptional - friendly, welcoming, courteous, knowledgeable, helpful, well trained, well groomed and extremely professional.
Property is well maintained, room is spacious and clean. All amenities/essentials are generously provided.
The bathroom is quite odd…

Other MO's around the world are much better in terms of bars etc.
Great Location , room was fine and breakfast was probably the best breakfast we had for the whole trip ......
The rooftop bar was someone small and I couldn't even get a table even though I was an inhouse guest.
