Ambassade Hotel, Amsterdam

The breakfast was very good. The position in the middle of the 9 streets is great. The distance to my favorite Pub "Gollem" is great as well. Good connections, although we had the bad luck that in Leidsestraat there were improvement activities on the tramway.

The Airco wasn't functioning very well and the WLAN in this newly added part was not very stable. Some how the windows let through a lot of street noise . . . After asking the staff the Airco was new and nobody knew exactly how to use it. The WLAN-Problem was known and was under improvement. To the street noise there were no positive comments.

Everyone was helpful and friendly. Amazing Breakfast and restaurant staff. Breaks was absolutely fantastic!!!! We will be back.

This was the perfect hotel for us. Lovely rooms overlooking canal. Library and games. Staff extremely friendly and helpful.

Food wise - not good for children. Very fine dining. Good breakfast.

Lift was essential. Location great. Staff delightful. Canal view a must.

Shower a little odd. Restaurant was a little pedestrian after promising much more.

The staff at this hotel are outstanding. Always friendly, helpful and professional. The room was comfortable and the decor fresh and interesting with a bright classic feel.

Loved this small hotel located inside several historic canalside townhomes. Extremely friendly and helpful staff, wonderful breakfast, great a/c which was very much needed on a few of our days.

Beautiful and unique! Every where there is fantastic artwork, a library filled with books on art and lifestyle and literature. Restaurant has incredible food, that looks like art! The hotel staff are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable!

The room was absolutely beautiful. We paid for the canal view. The canal is quiet and prettier than many because it has no houseboats moored on it. Hotel is in a great part of town. Staff was very friendly, kind and helpful.

Lovely spot by the canal side, quiet road (relatively) - room had a lovely view.

Be aware of the cars / vans blocking the entrance to the hotel - which is a problem with all roads in Amsterdam as the City does not have much room for cars!

Setting, in the heart of Amsterdam

Location of hotel was central. Room was a little tight, but very cozy. Bed was comfortable.

We arrived at the hotel close to midnight, so the bar was closing, and we couldn't get any snacks anymore. Managed to get a glass of wine. :) Air conditioner did not work, but there was a fan in the room. There were narrow stairs to go up or down to the room so it was a little difficult to carry our luggage. Breakfast was minimal. Just continental, but you can order eggs.

The view from our room overlooking the canal and the location were perfect. The staff was also exceptional - helpful in arranging plans (for eg canal cruise) and making suggestions. They were also very responsive through email communications prior to our stay. Would definitely stay here again.

Can honestly say there wasn't anything we didn't like. We heard some people comment on finding the layout confusing, but that is because the hotel is made up of two restored canal houses which were built as intentionally narrow so that there are some winding halls (but there are elevators). We found it added to the charm.

I really liked the location of this hotel. Walking distance to most areas of interest to us on a beautiful canal. You are really get the authenticity of what Amsterdam has to offer from the hotels location. Would highly recommend. We needed a 3 single bed option for our room which sadly meant we could not opt for a canal view which would have been nice however, we still enjoyed the hotel and loved that it was a traditional build with the narrow staircases. They have done a wonderful job of converting all the buildings to make it into this wonderful hotel. The staff were all lovely and friendly.

I have stayed in many hotels and just found this is a little more expensive for a 4* than others around the world, even 5*. However, it was giving me the experiencing I was looking for in Amsterdam i.e. canal location so still chose to book it.

Great location and helpful staff

The customer service and the food were beyond expectations, We had a welcome note and a bottle of wine in our room. The bathroom was very nice, except it seemed more designed for a man. The floor was heated, and it had a large tub, a rain shower, and double sinks. The staff was very attentive and welcoming. I would definitely stay there the next time I visit Amsterdam. The dinner and drinks in their restaurant were the best in town. The bed was very comfortable and there was lots of storage for clothing and shoes. There was also generous storage under the double sinks in the bathroom. The location was very good and in walking distance of several interesting museums and areas of town.

There was not much room to store suitcases The built-in magnifying mirror was placed very high in the mirror, and there was no easy way to shave legs safely in the shower. The furniture was too big and too much for the size of the room.. It looked very pretty but crowded.This would not deter me from staying there again. There are stairs to climb, so this hotel would not be suitable for the handicapped, but this part of Amsterdam has buildings that are all designed the same way over the last few hundred years.
