Lotte Hotel, Seattle

809 5th Ave, Seattle, WA 98104, United States (show on map)

Lotte Hotel Seattle is a striking blend of the past and the future, merging a contemporary 44-story glass skyscraper with the historic Sanctuary, a beautifully restored Beaux-Arts building from 1908. Originally America’s first United Methodist Church, the Sanctuary now serves as an opulent venue for events, preserving its original pipe organ and stunning stained-glass windows.

The hotel’s interiors were crafted by world-renowned designer Philippe Starck, who brought his signature playful, modern aesthetic to the property. A highlight for many guests is the reception desk on the 16th floor, which is carved from a single 3,000-year-old sequoia log. Throughout the property, abstract motifs and natural materials pay homage to Seattle’s roots as a historic logging town.

Guest rooms feature floor-to-ceiling windows that capture sweeping views of Elliott Bay, the Olympic Mountains, and the cityscape. High-end amenities like Le Spa de l’hôtel Lotte and the Charlotte Restaurant & Lounge—which serves elevated Pacific Northwest cuisine—ensure a luxurious experience centered on refined, understated Korean hospitality.

Its central location on 5th Avenue places you within walking distance of major landmarks. You can easily reach the iconic Pike Place Market, the Seattle Art Museum, and the Smith Tower. Whether you are exploring the nearby waterfront or heading to the Space Needle, the hotel acts as a polished and sophisticated anchor in the heart of downtown.

Expert reviews

Forbes review:

“Lotte Hotel Seattle stands as a study in design. A 1908 beaux arts building — the nation’s oldest — dubbed The Sanctuary serves as downtown hotel’s landmark façade and hosts special events. The rest of the 2020-opened Lotte resides in a gleaming glass tower that stretches 44 stories.”

Fodors review:

“Philippe Starck-designed, mid-century-inspired interiors feature sleek mirrored surfaces (even in the bathroom), an eclectic mix of contemporary art, faux-bois motifs, and floor-to-ceiling windows, some with lovely views of Elliott Bay and Smith Tower.”

CN Traveler review:

“This Philippe Starck-designed hotel occupies 16 floors of the flashy, 44-floor F5 Tower in the heart of Downtown Seattle. Everything about the hotel, inside and out, comes off striking and beautiful. While Seattle’s style of luxury usually requires deferring to a casual aesthetic, the Lotte commits to the kind of high-end hotel that appeals to international business moguls.”

Beautiful hotel with beautiful view.

The staff at reception as well as in the restaurant. Also, the comfortable bed and view from our room.

Not having a Jacuzzi/swimming pool and some of the noise from sirens throughout the night.

Below was the view from our room. Very disappointing as the whole purpose was to a have a view of the bay.

Its location! It was within walking distance to the sea front. The hotels cleanliness was to a very high standard. The staff were professional and friendly.

We were offered a room with a view of the bay when we booked. But unfortunately we did not get this. This would make me reluctant to book again.

We Wish We Could Have Stayed Longer

We ate breakfast at Charlotte all three mornings we were there. We also ate dinner there one night. The food was very good, but the service was impeccable. Outstanding breakfast service from Tomiteo (2X) and a tall Asian gentleman whose name we didn’t get. Outstanding dinner service from Gene as well.

Also need to mention Nick, Antoine and Yea Soo at the front desk - all warm and welcoming . And a final shout out to Arthur, who made recommendations that were perfect (e.g., the Calder exhibit at the Seattle Art Museum).

I can tell you I read “Unreasonable Hospitality” twice and the staff embodies the same culture of excellence.

Last note… my wife and were so impressed we booked a stay at the Lotte hotel in Chicago. Bravo!

Nothing comes to mind.

One night was not enough.

The supreme King suite was very clean comfortable, and the view was spectacular. I loved waking up in the morning with the view overlooking the city. The marble bathroom was spacious and luxurious, and I especially liked the mirrors throughout the entire room. Nice touch mirrors make the room look larger Also I’m not sure if the rooms above and below and beside us were empty or full with other guest, but I didn’t hear anybody in other rooms around us no Plumbing noises no talking no TV just silence except for the city, which was a quiet muffle, which was nice. Peaceful and relaxing we enjoyed your facility very much. To all the staff who make that happen we thank you.

I have no complaints

Easy, relaxing, and very welcoming!

The staff is incredibly friendly, the lounge is a large space with comfortable seating areas and good small plate food offerings, and the restaurant has a creative menu. The rooms are eclectic, clean, and very spacious! The hotel is centrally located and within walking distance to museums, the Space Needle, Pikes Place Market, dining, and shopping. I’ve stayed here twice and would give it a high recommendation.

There’s nothing I didn’t like about this property.

Comfortable but not convenient if you’re unable to walk to restaurants and city sites.

The decor was interesting. The beds very comfy. The room was quiet as requested.

Price was high. The in house restaurant is expensive. The hotel is located in a food desert. Only one nearby deli was convenient for getting sandwiches and groceries.

Overall great hotel just wish it was closer to pikes place!

Great Hotel! Loved the room, happy hour at the lounge, and overall wonderful staff!

Didn’t like that it had said it was close to pikes place walking distance but really it wasn’t it was driving though. If I would have known that I wouldn’t have stayed here.

Nice centrally located, higher end hotel with ammendities

The staff was very nice and the housekeeping staff were awesome! They took care of us and our room like we were staying in our own home.

We didn't stay for the TV but when you have a big screen TV, it should work and it constantly cut out, buffered and locked up so I reset the entire TV system and it worked for a short time and I should have let the Maintenance troubleshoot and replace the equipment but we didn't feel like having a maintenance person in our $400 a night room to look at the TV issues. He was very nice but we declined and said we'll deal with the poor signal/buffering/resetting TV until we checked out. The button to connect to the restaurant/room service only worked the first day and after that, it never worked and we had to hang-up and call the front desk and they ended up taking our breakfast/food order. But the weird thing is the breakfast would show up without any sides and found out later that the people answering the phone for room service didn't know the menu and never asked us for sides. So were paying $20+ a plate for 2 eggs over-easy (average breakfast order was $100) and for the entire stay, we weren't given the same sides. They saved the hotel a few bucks worth of sides but it wasn't cool that every breakfast was different. And many of the people answering the phone were not English as a first language and it was tough understanding them or getting them to understand what was going on so we just didn't bother. Plus one of the room service attendants spilled our beverages and never bothered to say she was sorry or to offer a replacement or one to top off all the spillage. The bed was too soft and squishy but I made it work. It would be nice to have had a ottoman in the room as I would have loved to put my feet up. But the staff was mostly awesome, the ground floor team was running their butts off and extremely polite and accommodating. Not sure if we'd stay there again but the team on the street level were worth the stay as they had really great communication skills and went above and beyond with enthusiasm.

Excellent stay, quirky decor with a tree theme throughout the hotel, would definitely stay again

Quirky hotel in design. Very clean and comfortable room, very well serviced, good bathroom products provided, nice bed linen and towels. Bathroom/toilet area is large and beautifully designed. Very comfortable bed. Wished we had booked for an additional couple of days

Ground staff could have been a little more friendly with their greetings, other than that our stay was excellent.

We had a wonderful stay and loved the hotel!!

Proximity to the event we were attending and the staff were awesome and very attentive. Room was clean and very comfortable. The view was spectacular!! 🤩

The elevators were sometimes slow and all three were not accessible … as well as the lounge closed too early so we couldn’t get a nightcap after our concert at Lumen Field. 😣

Great location, great building, some odd design choices, but overall an excellent stay

Very nice location. Great room and layout. Loved the view and the staff were very nice. One of the nicest buildings of any hotel in Seattle, I loved the huge windows looking out on the city.

Photos of room showed a shower wand in addition to the rainfall head, but my room did not have one. The rainfall head by itself was a little inadequate. The Christ-themed artwork in the room was heavy-handed and not appropriate. Better wayfinding to find the front desk is needed, especially with the parking restrictions at the entrance (why is check in on the top floor and not in the lobby!?)

Great romantic weekend getaway!

We didn’t have to drive anywhere. We were able to walk to pike place market, the waterfront, and T-Mobile park for a concert we were attending. The room was perfect with bay side view, very clean, and surprisingly quiet. Check-in was easy and quick.

That parking was an extra $72/night.

Comfortable and upscale

The building and atmosphere were fancy. The bed was comfortable. The staff were friendly. Housekeeping came immediately with requested extra items. Excellent service. The view is beautiful! We got upgraded to a corner unit surrounded by glass.

The decor is a little creepy and weird. The room was big but not very functional. There were no usb plugs bf the bed.
