The Camby Hotel, Phoenix
The Camby Hotel, located in the prestigious Biltmore neighborhood of Phoenix, is a masterclass in “refined revelry.” Originally a Ritz-Carlton, the building was transformed into its current playful personality by the design firm Stonehill & Taylor. They utilized the hotel’s classic, elegant foundation as a canvas, layering on contemporary touches that draw inspiration from Arizona’s “5 Cs”: cotton, cattle, citrus, climate, and copper.
The design is intentionally whimsical, featuring “look and look again” moments throughout the property. You might spot custom-designed metal doors with minimalist Southwestern patterns, or even playful art pieces—like portraits of canyons juxtaposed with unusual neon accents. The guest rooms are equally distinct, featuring deconstructed four-poster beds and ceilings adorned with copper Mylar panels that offer a metallic, reflective glow.
Beyond the aesthetics, the hotel serves as a vibrant social hub. It houses Yellowbell, a restaurant that celebrates Southwestern flavors, and the Wade Poolside Bar, where guests can relax under the desert sun. The rooftop pool area is a highlight, offering a canopy-shaded retreat that perfectly captures the relaxed, upscale spirit of the valley.
Its location is incredibly convenient for both leisure and business. You are just steps away from the upscale Biltmore Fashion Park for premier shopping and dining. For those looking to explore local history or nature, the iconic Wrigley Mansion and the scenic trails of Piestewa Peak are only a short drive away, making it a perfect home base for experiencing the best of Phoenix.
Expert reviews
“A relatively new high-end boutique operation, this 11-story tower (itself fairly unusual for Phoenix) occupies the site of the former Ritz-Carlton, looking out on the bustling intersection of 24th Street and Camelback Road, the Biltmore Fashion Park mall, and a gorgeous vista of mountains beyond.”
“‘Refined revelry’ is the concept for this boutique hotel that mixes classic ambience with whimsical, contemporary art design. Playful spaces are created for the discerning business traveller who enjoys a little play with their work, or digital nomads who tote their work while they wander.”

I should’ve stayed somewhere else!
The valet staff were nice.
The customer service wasn’t the best when I checked in ( jessica), the rooms weren’t what I expected I assumed the amount of money I spent, the rooms would have more to offer. The valet was $40 a night and did not offer alternative parking incase it isn’t in someone’s budget.

Not good. Rip off.
The amount of money I paid to stay here really lead me to believe that this property would be amazing and it was a disappointment. I feel ripped off. The hotel is mediocre at best for 2000$ for 3 nights!? The pool area was a big disappointment. The food at the restaurant on site was just not good. We made the best of it though. Ryan was very nice.

Had a great stay!
We had a great breakfast at Artizen! My husband enjoyed the guitars in the lobby. I appreciated the free water! We were able to participate in the Bonvoy members event on Friday, which was a nice surprise.
There wasn't anything that could have been better. We didn't get the chance to use the pool facilities :(

Fabulous time at the Camby
Loved our mountain view room on the 4th floor, away from the fray, and quiet, stylish and comfortable. hot water was plentiful. staff was amazingly friendly. our Artizen restaurant staff was also fantastic (shout out to the lovely Nancy!). we totally enjoyed our stay and felt pampered throughout.

Not a Four star! More like 3
You guys need your own parking lot. My husband and I were in and out, so we felt bad using valet. Also the room was a little dirty. The bathroom smelled like sewer.
