The Siren Hotel, Detroit

The history and quirkiness about it. The location too.

We were transported back in time! The Siren has done an amazing job honoring the 1920's. From its color palette, its plush and luxurious fabrics, period furnishings, and mood lighting we felt transported back in time. The helpful and knowledgeable staff, valet service,and the speakeasy themed 'Candy Bar' topped off a wonderful weekend stay.

Through no fault of its own, the Detroit Tigers won a hard fought game in 11 innings the night we were there, so the revelry from the fans and downtown atmosphere carried on past midnight. As guests of The Siren, we weren't quite expecting that much excitement that late. But again, it wasn't the hotels fault.

The shower had hair in it, the bed was rather uncomfortable, there was no fitted sheet so we had to keep tucking the top sheet in. Also, I ordered a latte, they need more milk options, plus there was something that got in my drink which was gross

The staff was excellent. There was a coffee bar in lobby. The location was close to everything we needed .

The property felt safe and it's location to local venues is outstanding!

The rooms and beds are quite small. Beds definitely need to be higher off the floor.

It would have been great if there were water for guests in the lobby.

Walking distance to Comerica Park and the people mover.

We could not watch television. When we inquired, we were told 2 remotes were needed, but the room only had one remote. It was later at night. They were attempting to locate another remote, but after an hour, we called and said nevermind, we would just like to go to sleep and not wait anymore. Not a deal breaker. But, the small room and no TV should be mentioned if that is something that matters to you. The location is great, so that is the what makes this worth it and what you are paying for.

Food and drinks were a bit pricey. We ate out because of this.

The bathroom door didn’t lock or stay shut. Valet was confusing, nobody told us where to pull up which resulted in moving the vehicle multiple times

The beds were very comfortable and the art deco style made it a unique experience. The staff was also very friendly and unique!

The stairwells are the last thing they need to remodel to create an overall amazing experience.

The window didn't seal well, it definitely needed replacement. Sometimes felt drafts.

Very quaint and eclectic. Staff was friendly and attentive - restaurant and bar was excellent.

Too dark, rooms were cozy but a little small.

We had an amazing stay at the iconic hotel. The candy bar was fantastic. Drinks were top shelf and the creations were outstanding!!

The hotel was somewhat outdated.

The layout, the friendly and helpful staff. The unique decor, elegant and upscale while feeling homey, and welcoming my entire, albeit short stay.

On site Cafe is great.

The room was excessively small with no space allocated for even one small case let alone 2. We had a neighbour with barking dogs. Why anyone would take their pet and then leave them in the room is a mystery. There is a card in the bathroom encouraging guests to hang their towels if they wished to conserve the environment but nowhere to hang. No desk. Some people do need to do work. No wardrobe just hangers on a hook. 'Mini-bar' items use all the bench space.

Location was fantastic! Though we were told otherwise, it was awesome that we arrived, and valet was quick and efficient, and very polite as well. To our surprise, the room was also ready nice and early, so we were able to unload before hitting the town. Very unique room! We loved it, and even took some fun pictures of the little touches that made it special.

We were on an end room, and though it’s nothing that can be the fault of the property, from the fourth floor, the people outside and on the ground below are very loud, very late at night… Very late. Didn’t get much sleep, but I’m sure if you’re in an inside room that’s not an issue. And, no USB port of any kind in the room.

The shower water never got hot, just lukewarm. There was no luggage rack or coffee maker. The Ash Restaurant was not open fir breakfast as stated.

The vibe was nice and some of the workers were very pleasant. The bed was extremely comfortable.

The room was small with absolutely no storage or hooks. It made it impossible to stow things away or hang them up to get off the floor. The front desk staff was nice but the guy working the coffee bar could not have been more rude or put out. The valet staff also acted like they hated us for using that service. The room was mostly clean but the hallways and elevator were filthy.

The location was perfect for being close to all stadiums and things to do. We loved the older nostalgic building. The cutest hotel!

Coffee

The decor was eye-catching-- bohemian chic. The lobby was small but filled with decorative screens, plants, a mix of velvet chairs and a cute victorian-looking chaise lounge, Check-in and check-out was quick. Location was near sports stadium, theaters, restaurants. The room was spotless. The shower seemed huge --decorated with colorful blue tile and glass blocks. Dark red trim on doors to bathroom & door to the room was memorable. I liked the sliding barn door to the bathroom. Snacks available in room was a plus.

The bed was a little low and the mattress was lumpy, well-worn. The window in the shower was huge. I don't think I've ever seen a window in a hotel shower before, let alone one that big.

The hotel is beautiful, if you love old architecture.

The cleaning staff kept knocking on the door even though the do not disturb was on the door.

There was a lot of loud music being played all day and night.

We liked the location, we liked the old world feel of a happier time and such a beautiful building. Hope to come again.

Mascara on pillow, no ceiling lights, lamp closest to window was broken off the wall and the room was so warm we opened the window… it’s December

The reception staff was exemplary. So welcoming and accommodating. Thoughtful details throughout the hotel and room. Loved the handwritten note and the makeup washcloth

The room was very tiny for the cost. Also when we tried to get coffee in the morning, no one was staffed there for 5 minutes or so before we left to get coffee down the street.

The Candy Bar and Ash Bar were both gorgeous and delicious

I found a large stain on the large top comforter that looked like it was over looked by the cleaning staff

Rooms are extremely small. No fridge. To get ice you had to go to the basement And we never did get a chance to visit the Candy Bar which was disappointing. I feel like there should be an option for guest to be able to get a table. We tried several times but it’s so busy with outside guests they told us maybe at midnight😢 Rooms rates are bit high for what you get

No tea or coffee facilities in the room. No accessible power point near the table – had to move the wardrobe. Desk light didn’t work.

It was very clean, the staff were super friendly and helpful. Good coffee in the lobby. The decor and atmosphere were very cool.

The girls at the front desk were so nice and quick to take care of a problem we had with Valet. The guys in the Candy Bar were exceptional and made for a great experience. The overall aestetic of the hotel was very cool.our room was super clean. View from our King Studio was awesome.

Without all the dimmed lights you could tell it needed some better cleaning in common areas.Lampshades in the Candy Bar, elevator floor etc. Valet told us to "drive around" for 20 minutes because there wasn't a spot to park. Coffee in lobby was late.

Could not control AC. Freezing in room, we turned it off completely ( we would set it, then it would immediately default back to 66 degrees. Terrible! Bedlight sconces did not work with wall switch, again frustrating! ( we later learned this is a common problem as supposedly there is a switch on the light itself!). Did not see a switch but if this is common, why not do something...explain at in check in out?
