The hotel from the room and staff were amazing! Couldn't recommend it enough, they provided lovely recommendations for places to eat, sightsee. The location of the hotel is great super central with plenty of shops and restaurants in the immediate vicinity. I hope to go back again in the near future.

Perfect location and very comfortable room. The linen was exceptionally soft and white. The bed very comfortable. Great service by the staff who even posted an item we left behind - thanks! The water fountains and free tea/coffee is a lovely touch.

Convenient location in the old town

Not a too long distance from the train station but it's a stone road, so quite hard to carry drag the luggage over the stone road

A charming hotel with exceptional staff in the centrally located and yet peacefully quiet. The entire experience was wonderful. The cutest room, clean, and super comfortable bed, and friendly staff. I loved the fresh drinking water station on each floor. There are so many nice and thoughtful touches that creates this happy place. I highly recommend this hotel and its staff.

I really liked the location. My room was also great.

My father's room has a weird slope in the floor, which nobody told us about in advance. I also would appreciate some other areas to hang out other than the room itself. The reception area and the 'library' were not very inviting to hang out. I also did not like the breakfast area - mostly high chairs that are not great for older people (my father was 80).

Lovely friendly staff who were so keen to help. A very warm welcome and a welcoming drink! Nice touch. Coffee/tea available in the reception area. Comfortable rooms which were very clean and spacious.

We had booked three single rooms and they have a height restriction which I didn't realise on booking. Those rooms are really only suitable for people 5'5" and under.

No coffee or tea in the room but available at reception. Room had an accessible bathroom which was a bit strange. Breakfast included was OK but service was a little abrupt

Loved location

Its location was second to none right in the middle of Old Town. The staff were superb, and so friendly and helpful. We were offered a glass of sparkling wine upon arrival and there was a little Swiss cookie on our pillows in our room which was very large and clean and had big windows. The windows shut out all the noise at night and there was ac so no problem. The bathroom was very cool in black and white and had all the mod cons. Also a big window which was nice. The wooden floors were quirky and sloping….my suitcase rolled to the other side of the room. 😆 There was free tea and coffee at a machine in reception. Excellent strong European coffee.

The only small fly in the ointment for us was having neighbors who came back late at night and thundered back and forth on the wooden floors above us. That was really annoying. But the rest of the time I could not fault the hotel.

Location in terms of being very central and access to most popular locations within walking distance. Friendly staff and room size/features. Coffee machine and mini lounge area next to reception open 24/7

Location in terms of carrying luggage. You have to keep in mind that you have to carry your luggage up a mini hill and a bit of pebble rock street.

Excellent location, friendly and accommodating staff - moved things around so I didn’t have to switch rooms as I had made two separate bookings.

Missed the fact that there was no coffee machine in the room - they do make one available at reception. My single occupancy room was quite tight - I kept bashing my leg on the bed when going to the bathroom. Mattress was too soft for me.

Clean, sleek and comfortable beds. We are parents to three children and came away for our 10th wedding anniversary. Slept the best nights sleep that we’ve had in years. Room was quiet and comfortable. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Free coffee at reception. Welcome drink on arrival. Water on each floor to help ourselves. Location was great.

Hotel is located at center of old town historical area. We arrived before 11am and our room was ready. We requested a quiet room on high floor during reservations and was given a room on the 4th floor (top floor) at the end of the hallway. It had partial views of the Zurich skyline (the clock tower a couple of blocks away and much more). Our room next door was labeled "historical room" and we suspected it would have views of landmarks across of river. There are numerous restaurants and shops within a few blocks. A small coffee shop with excellent pastries and a gelatos shop both within 50 feet. The Rathaus tram stop is only a couple hundred feets away. This hotel is absolutely an awesome find. The facilities were Northern European - clean, green, functional, practical with no thrills. The air conditioner in the room worked great (best temp control in our entire trip) and was perfect for the summer heat. The restaurant/bar downstairs was rated 2 Michelin stars. Impressive, though we did not eat there $$$$. Everything in Zurich except public transportation seems expensive, but Switzerland is beautiful. If you have not visited this country, highly recommended to add this to your bucket list.

Only a few English speaking news channels were available on TV in room. No refrigerator was available in room, but free coffee and tea were offered at lobby. Water tap with drinkable water is available on each floor.

This was our 3rd 5-star stay at the Marktgasse Hotel. With a superb location, friendly and helpful staff, air conditioning, elevator, large historic room, restaurants, shopping, sites, tram just steps away, it won't be our last.

This hotel was in a fantastic location with good-sized, clean rooms. There were some lovely little touches that made the stay extra enjoyable - free coffee, lollies, and welcome drinks in the common area, plus the option to borrow a Swiss adapter with a refundable deposit. Overall, a great experience - I’d definitely recommend it to a friend!

The only downside was that our room faced the street, and on a Saturday night it was quite noisy until the early hours. If you're a light sleeper, you might want to request a room away from the street.

Excellent excellent ! The room and washroom were super spacious and right at the lake in the middle of oldtown. Plenty of shops and restaurants. Must try their igniv restaurants which has been awarded Michelin star. Super friendly staff -always ready to help. They are a delight and I plan to come back

More options for breakfast and the cleaning staff can do a better job . Our room table had glass stains

The room was very small. The claimed 20 sq. meters is just with outer walls and including shower space, The ceilings are also very low.

Location was fantastic, right in the middle of the historic area, near the river and lake. Room was comfortable and there was a heat spell in Zurich do the AC was perfect.

The breakfast offering could have been better.

Good location. Comfortable bed. Air conditioning. Some well thought out features like blackout curtains that actually work properly. Staff were helpful - not only did they hold luggage for me before checkin but they took it up to my room for me while I was out. They had lots of thoughtful features, offering to loan me an umbrella and loaned another couple a free museum pass and noted they could loan an international charger.

Hot water didn't get very hot. The shower had no door... I've never seen such a terrible design of a shower and the roof overhang with a coat hanger was just bizarre. AC had a relatively high cutoff - it claimed to go to 18C but it seemed to shut off at at around 22-23C. This was the most expensive and probably lowest value overall of my trip.
