Marktgasse Hotel, Zurich

This hotel was in a fantastic location with good-sized, clean rooms. There were some lovely little touches that made the stay extra enjoyable - free coffee, lollies, and welcome drinks in the common area, plus the option to borrow a Swiss adapter with a refundable deposit. Overall, a great experience - I’d definitely recommend it to a friend!

The only downside was that our room faced the street, and on a Saturday night it was quite noisy until the early hours. If you're a light sleeper, you might want to request a room away from the street.

Excellent excellent ! The room and washroom were super spacious and right at the lake in the middle of oldtown. Plenty of shops and restaurants. Must try their igniv restaurants which has been awarded Michelin star. Super friendly staff -always ready to help. They are a delight and I plan to come back

More options for breakfast and the cleaning staff can do a better job . Our room table had glass stains

The room was very small. The claimed 20 sq. meters is just with outer walls and including shower space, The ceilings are also very low.

Location was fantastic, right in the middle of the historic area, near the river and lake. Room was comfortable and there was a heat spell in Zurich do the AC was perfect.

Good location. Comfortable bed. Air conditioning. Some well thought out features like blackout curtains that actually work properly. Staff were helpful - not only did they hold luggage for me before checkin but they took it up to my room for me while I was out. They had lots of thoughtful features, offering to loan me an umbrella and loaned another couple a free museum pass and noted they could loan an international charger.

Hot water didn't get very hot. The shower had no door... I've never seen such a terrible design of a shower and the roof overhang with a coat hanger was just bizarre. AC had a relatively high cutoff - it claimed to go to 18C but it seemed to shut off at at around 22-23C. This was the most expensive and probably lowest value overall of my trip.

Wifi was frustrating. My husband and I could not be on wifi at the same time. We kept getting bumped off and had to sign back in repeatedly.

Spacious Clean room with basis stuffs you needed. No fridge, no kettle for tea/coffee but it was Great that you can make coffee or tea anytime day and night at reception level 1. Location in old town which makes it convenient to explore. Very quiet area. Staffs are very welcoming and friendly.

The hotel is renovated and beautifully designed — clean, pleasant, and very comfortable. The staff was friendly and highly attentive. Our rooms were modern and nicely decorated. The hotel is located on Marktgasse, a central street in the Old Town filled with shops, restaurants, and cafés, yet the hotel itself remained quiet. There was also a coffee corner at the reception available for guests throughout the day.

We booked two single rooms. One was spacious and convenient, while the other had a different layout and felt a bit cramped, with very narrow space around the bed. There was no coffee machine in the room. The streets around the hotel were under construction, so no taxi was able to reach the hotel — despite the reception assuring us otherwise. As a result, my 80-year-old mother had to walk all the way to Limmatquai Street, through a narrow passage, including both a descent and an uphill walk.

Super nice room - felt like a mini loft Minimalist and modern with mid century furniture- v nice! Aircon was excellent Drinking water station in each corridor

I had double room single occupancy - 2 single beds together which really dipped/sagged in the middle so not the most comfortable. The pillows were almost too soft.

We booked a large double room. Care needs to be taken. The large double rooms with 2 windows have a better view outside. The original large double room we were in had one window which looked into a courtyard and it was considerably smaller than the second one we were placed it. The first developed a leak from the ceiling but staff were wonderful and shifted us. The photos also show robes. They are not provided in the large double rooms I was told. Only in the historical rooms. The breakfast which was included was very disappointing. Plenty of cafes around and I would take up that option instead.

I had a small, double room, perfectly adequate for a solo traveller. Very clean and comfortable. The hotel is situated right in the middle of the old town. Every member of staff, I spoke to were the same, very kind and helpful!

It would have been good to have a refrigerator in the room to keep my drinking water cold. I didn't really want to go downstairs to the refrigerator at reception in my pyjamas when I got up the next morning!

There was nothing I disliked about the hotel. My room was quite small and basic. It had everything you need: bed, desk, chair, hanging space, shower etc but no frills. Small and minimal but all fine.
