The Beaumont Hotel, London

8 Balderton Street, Brown Hart Gardens, Westminster Borough, London, W1K 6TF, United Kingdom (show on map)

The Beaumont, located in London’s prestigious Mayfair, is a stunning example of 1930s neo-Art Deco glamour. Originally designed by architects Wimperis & Simpson in 1926 as a garage, the building was later transformed into a luxury hotel by iconic restaurateurs Chris Corbin and Jeremy King. The hotel opened in 2014, successfully blending nostalgic 1930s elegance with modern-day comfort.

What truly sets the hotel apart is its dedication to art and storytelling. The interiors are filled with authentic antiques and vintage portraits, creating a “clubby” and intimate atmosphere. Its most famous feature is ROOM, a monumental, three-storey-high stainless steel sculpture by Antony Gormley that doubles as a unique, immersive hotel suite perched on the roof.

Guests often head to the Colony Grill Room, an American-style restaurant adorned with murals, for a classic, sophisticated dining experience. The hotel also features a cozy, wood-paneled bar called Le Magritte, which perfectly channels the spirit of the Jazz Age.

The location is a dream for those who enjoy the finer things in London. It sits just a stone’s throw from the peaceful Brown Hart Gardens and is within walking distance of the high-end boutiques on Bond Street and the lush expanse of Hyde Park. Whether you are browsing nearby art galleries or heading into the West End for a show, The Beaumont serves as a quiet, stylish sanctuary in the middle of one of the world’s busiest cities.

Expert reviews

CN Traveler review:

“This was the first hotel by celebrated restaurateurs Corbin and King, of the Wolseley fame, and is perhaps best known for the enormous pixelated steel figure jutting out of the elegant façade: Room, Gormley’s sculpture, which you can sleep inside.”

Will surely stay in this place again

Everything was great. 5 star hotel which meets all applicable standards. Location is my favorite in London: close to all my favorite spots and placid at the same time.

sure value - traditional and easy to go place

I love the location, it being calm and spacious and clean. I love the bar but not the restaurant.

I thought that the new restaurant is nothing so much to write home about. I would have preferred some more experimental food and not the traditional English.

Very nice stay, would definitely come back.

Beaumont Mayfair is a beautiful and stylish art deco hotel in London, Mayfair. Location is good and there are many excellent restaurants in walking distance so no need to use any transport for dinner. As the hotel is not too big you receive a personal touch in service and can enjoy the overall ambiance of the place.

It was not a big problem but some special taxes were added to the final bill.

Stunning Art Deco style, and the staff were simply outstanding - warm and attentive

The exceptional service which is consistent every time we stay at the Beaumont. The staff are truly amazing and nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are beautifully furnished and spotlessly clean. And the location is fabulous for all our requirements.

I didn't find anything I didn't like which is rather unusual

Great hotel in a great location

The property is in great condition and the staff, other than the bar, are wonderful.

The bar staff seemed lost and overwhelmed. Sharp contrast to the other staff who were fantastic.

Luxurious, very stylish property with a caveat on service in bar/breakfast areas.

Terrific location in Mayfair, also near Oxford Street and Marylebone. The Art Deco style of the hotel got me there, since I am less keen on the chintzy affair that many hotels provide for visitors to England. The bathroom was gorgeous, and there are plenty of lovely touches throughout: bookmarks left on a pile of books, spectacles cleaning kit, toiletries from D.R. Harris. Great turndown service. Mercifully, the communicating door with adjacent room is in the vestibule, which can be closed off with sliding panel; otherwise that would have been an issue. I benefited from a one category upgrade and I'm grateful for that.

Staff at Le Magritte Bar seemed cold and aloof to me, and I don't ask for US style chummy (quite the contrary). Same thing at breakfast, where on top of frigid and indifferent treatment the food was lackluster. If I'm going to pay 38GBP for hard avocado toast, a small bowl of berries, and a coffee, I'd like at least to leave with a smile on my face to withstand the London rain. Again, no need for fake friendliness, just try harder at that certain cosmopolitan grace that must distinguish an establishment such as The Beaumont. That said, I would come back, just wiser after a first experience.

A London escape blending homely warmth with refined, understated luxury.

Everything from the moment of check‑in to check‑out met the expectations of a luxury property, with staff who are exceptionally kind and attentive, ensuring every request is taken care of and that I truly feel at home.

Throughout my stay, everything was handled with impeccable timing and care - from the concierge to the room and spa services - making the experience truly seamless.

Some rooms face an interior wall, which is quite common in Mayfair. For a more enjoyable experience, it’s worth choosing a higher‑category room.

Extremely pleasant stay. Will stay again.

The entire staff were the most charming and helpful I have ever experienced in London and I have been staying in London regularly for 20 years.

Received a newly renovated room. The bathroom was huge but also accessible which I don’t normally care for. The room service pizza was terrible! Need a new recipe!

Expensive but worth it.

Whilst it is expensive, it earns that cost. The whole place is very high class, the location, the internal fit out, staff and rooms are perfect for short stay in this area of London. The little touches that make big difference, little bottle of milk in fridge, very quite at night, fantastic towels and supplies in bathroom, the bedding and the staff very professional and attentive staff all make this a good 5 star stay. Well done Mr Procter.

Only stayed 1 night and didn’t include breakfast on my booking.
