Hostel Combo Venezia, Venice

Great location and away from the crowds. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Hostel is clean, aesthetic is well considered. No harsh lighting. Simple materials. Beautiful old building. 2 courtyards to eat breakfast and relax in. Put door terrace at the front door the bar and cafe. We had a twin room with an upper mezzanine and loved it. It over looked the quieter of the 2 courtyards, which was great to have a view out and access to fresh air. The room was fabulous, split toilet and shower, small kitchen with glasses, mugs and pans. Dishwashing liquid and sponge. Great space to work if you need and loads of storage for bags and clothes. Beds are separated by the small kitchenette which is really great when sharing with friends, so you're not sleeping directly next to each other. Would highly recommend and will come and stay again. Breakfast was simple but good with several hot and cold options.

A small diagram or guidance on what switch does what in the room would be helpful, and no covers on the duvets is a little odd (there are sheets between). The single beds are narrow. But that's really clutching at straws to say something bad!

The history of the building, its location was perfect for getting off the water taxi with our luggage and also so close to great food and shopping. Breakfast included is always great and there was good variety. Loved the canal view and seeing a bit of every day family life from the window

Combo Venezia is unique as it's a converted 12th century monastery. It is architecturally wonderful and has an amazing feel. As a facility it has been thoroughly modernized. The studios have comfortable beds, excellent bathrooms, and a kitchenette, aircon and sound proofing. The breakfasts are very good. The bar, and lounge spaces are all beautiful and congenial spaces. The staff are friendly, hard working and super helpful. The location in Cannaregio is excellent, being away from the crowded areas of Venice (though still walking distance to atteactions) while close to the water bus stops. Combo combines different kinds of accommodations, hence the title. So superior to a normal hotel!

It's minor, but a bread knife and a tea towel in the kitchen would have been useful. For an older person, the staircase in the room was a bit challenging.

It’s a good pretty hostel just that it was rainy when I got there so whole of Venice felt super gloomy and the room had a wet wall smell, nothing unbearable but just little bit bothering. Otherwise good stay

Beautiful old Monastery into a lovely hotel. Off the beaten path a bit but very easy to get to from the airport via Water bus or taxi. Fun little bar and great little restaurant.

A little bit of a walk to busy area but a few nice eateries somewhat close.

Good location away from busy parts of Venice, but right on vaporetto stop, and close to great restaurants and bars, esp. Rio de la Misericordia. Good bars in hotel.

Large place, better direction to rooms

Breakfast was amazing, the courtyard was gorgeous with plenty of chairs and some couches along the interior walls. Very large room for just 2 people that was incredibly clean.

The only thing I would change is to have lockers in the room that lock. It was okay I guess because the person I roomed with was friendly as are solo travelers in general, but the peace of mind knowing my things were locked would have been better.

the only way I would have designed the room (twin suite) to be EVEN better (it was lovely) would be to provide a sofa/ seating area in the mezzanine (3 desk areas was excessive and this space could be really well used for a comfort area)..

It was spacious and full of history! Almost like staying in a museum. Even paintings on the ceiling in several places. The location was also very convenient and close to water taxi to the airport and Murano and Burano islands. The walk to the grand canal was very pleasant and only took about 5 minutes. Breakfast had many wonderful options. This place was a gem!

Everything about the stay was awesome. It is an old building but with nicely renovated but keeping the history. I arrived early and they just checked me in. Nice staff. I liked the two bed system and a super cool kitchen.

With windows open there was noise outside (which makes sense as it was a Saturday evening). No fault of the hostel!

Yet again a great 😊 visit

Location is perfect. The hotel has lot of history, lots of open space and sitting area. 100 meters, no stairs, from the pier. In a nice quiet area but just steps away from everything. Breakfast included is vey good and many choices. 150 meters to the water bus pier for the train station.

Took a while to check in but not a problem

Very impressive building, the room was new well set out with kitchen, great shower room with separate WC, large room size, very clean, the building was gorgeous, would highly recommend to stay there.

The building and shared areas are very impressive - courtyard and bar and you can find your own little corner even during summer peak time. The location is good - away from noise but not far to supermarket and main shopping areas. Our kitchenette private room was very relaxing.

The location of Combo was near a lot of tourist attractions and close to the vaporetto. The staff was very friendly and they allowed us to leave our luggage in their storage for a few hours before and after our stay.

It’s an amazing building full of history, in a not so crowded part of Venice. The apartment we had booked had a view of the canal and a kitchen. It was very spacious. The breakfast was good, the receptionist was super friendly, our dog was welcomed. We all agreed it was among the best places we ever stayed at.

It could get a bit noisy during the night because people were gathering in front of the hostel and boats were driving by, also there are no mosquito nets (but a few mosquitoes)… But we still enjoyed it and slept great!

Room a bit small

I really love the spaciousness of my room. The ceiling is high, high enough to have a Mezzanine level for wardrobes and workspace. The shower and the toilet are separate, and there is a kitchen with all the amenities as well. As a solo traveller, I love the space I had, you could easily fit 4 in this room! The hotel itself was used for multiple purposes throughout history. The property is also located in the 'quieter' part of Venice which gives you a more authentic feel. The pier is just 2 mins away, making it super convenient to go to the airport, Murano, Burano, and Venice itself.

Food at the bar - not tasty and not very fresh.

We liked the uniqueness of it, and its relaxing vibe. As a family of four we had an apartment that looked onto the canal. It was just right for us and would definitely stay again or recommend. Great location for fabulous restaurants and able to walk into the centre of Venice quite easily. Bar was fairly priced and staff were great with all of us.

The breakfast was slightly unusual and felt that the portions available didn’t really last long, so had to wait for them to be replaced quite often. Found it difficult to find at first.

Beautiful, historic building, with so much courtyard and corridor space - plenty of tables, chairs, sofas and cushions to relax out of the hot summer sun. Great buffet breakfast, although it got a little overcrowded around 0900. This hotel has its own cafe/bar, wine bar and restaurant, with very reasonable prices. Hotel guests even get a 10% discount.

Ease overcrowding in breakfast room by spreading out food and tables over a wider area. Need more 2 and 4-person tables, to replace some of the larger ones.

Could do with a second coffee machine as breakfast is very busy!

My husband and I stayed there along with our daughter. The location is nice in that it is in a more quiet part of the city yet within walking distance to most places. The room was spacious, though very sparsely decorated - had more of a dorm feeling than a hotel feeling, but I guess this is the hostel vibe coming through.

Two negatives and the reason why we are not providing top rating: We had booked as two adults + 1 child and were disappointed that we did not get a double bed and instead had a room with three single beds. Normally when we book like this we always get a double bed and do not need to request it specifically. Secondly, the set-up around the breakfast was not dimensioned to the number of people staying. We stayed for three nights and each morning the breakfast serving was quite chaotic: long lines at the coffee machine, lack of cutlery, cups, etc., food not being available, etc.

The location is great, the staff is super helpful. They have great breakfasts, brunch options, their own Bacaro in the building, and the building itself is an ex monastery or something - so it breathes history and there are some very cool yards inside. The rooms are very clean and there's a vast selection of configurations and amenities. Also, there's a storage room where you can leave your luggage after a checkout if you have a later departure

The building is beautiful, the environment amazing and the staff super nice. Also the bar and bacaro are very good.

Air conditioning in the room was a bit noisy.

The feeling here was very cosy and friendly. I love that there was the ability to make tea and coffee through the day. Breakfast was simple but perfect for me--the opportunity to eat some eggs and tomatoes as well as toast and cereal. The bed was comfortable, and the curtain a nice extra layer of privacy.

I loved that the location was near the water ferry, and an 18 minute walk to St. Mark's Square. There were plenty of restaurants and a grocery store nearby.
