Wombat’s CITY Hostel, London

The location is very convenient, walking distance to a couple of underground stations and in a nice neighborhood. The hostel has great facilities so you don’t have to go too far: cafe, bar, kitchen, luggage storage, and laundry. My (single) room was pretty spacious & comfortable.

Cleanliness in my single room and private bathroom could have been more thorough. I’m paying hotel prices for a room, so my expectations are pretty high. It would have been nice to have at least soap available in the room instead of having to buy my own. The laundry on the property is convenient but a little confusing to use. I believe it was 6 pounds per load for wash, and then 6 pounds to dry as well.

Wom Bar, very cool, chilled communal space. Nice staff, very affordable. Makes visiting London affordable.

Comfier mattresses would be nice, but for £30 per night its fine. And I still slept well. ✌️ Will be back again.

Very social (if you wanted to be social). The bar downstairs was great for events like comedy and karaoke, ping pong and pool! I met loads of people, made a lot of new friends and had a great time solo traveling London.

Stayed here before and it's great from staff, facilities, location, and price. I always recommend to friends and family.

Good location, clean, friendly and helpful staff. I stayed here 8 years ago and it's at the same (or better) than it was then. One of the better hostels I've been in especially for the price.

The one complaint I have is there's a gap between the bed and the wall and it's easy to lose things (like key cards 😅) by them slipping down. But, the staff was very quick and helpful at replacing it at 6am so I could get into my locker

The staffs were nice and helpful. The bathroom was large and clean.

It’s near the railway so it can be load at night and in the early morning. You should close the window or bring the earplugs.

Stayed one night. Easy to find, comfy, spacious room for two with smart separate bathroom and toilet units! Shared kitchen was large (we used the fridge and ate our own breakfast breakfast). Check-in was quick, checkout too (we left early ish for our flight. Good location and great choice if you're flying in/out from London City Airport!

The staff are very friendly and helpful , many thanks to all of them! They assisted me several times (with the locker, measuring my luggage, providing a charger adapter, etc.). The room is well-equipped (toilet paper, soap, etc.), and the shower works perfectly with nice warm water. The location is excellent: the area is safe, with a variety of restaurants nearby (Lebanese, Filipino, Italian, etc.), convenience stores, and access to the underground in less than 10 minutes.

Curtains on the beds allow for a bit of privacy, personal mini-lights are convenient, lockers with a card so one does not need to bring or buy the lock, good water pressure in the showers

I really did not like the back mold in the shower. Which was surprising to find as other than that the room was pretty clean

I stayed here 4 years ago, so I knew what to expect. But they made improvements to the courtyard, lobby and shared areas that I really enjoyed

The location isn’t horrible, but it could be better. If it were just in a quieter part of town, that’d be one thing. But it’s also about 10m of walking to get to any public transit. It’s great if you’re out all day, but can make it feel costly to get going

Perfect location, clean and nice rooms with everything you need for a comfortable stay, safe lockers, spacious kitchen with everything you need to cook whatever you want and big fridges, the staff is very friendly and helpful, especially the girl Matilda (hope I spelled your name correctly), who helped me so much and is the most patient person ever! I enjoyed staying at the hostel for the second time and I am looking forward to come here for the third time!

I was in a private room and the mattress was so uncomfortable. It was a very flat mattress. Regarding breakfast, I don’t feel it was good value as they do not longer offer juice included in the same price. I have stayed many times here and the last time the breakfast was more basic and in smaller portions.

Very good quality hostel. I like the beds with curtains, was also pretty comfortable. Very clean bathrooms and rooms. The staff is so friendly and I liked the cafe and lobby in the daytime. The AC inside of the beds are such a great idea! The room isn't too hot, just right in the summer.

At night I would like some hot drinks facilities available... Bit loud walking through a bar when I wanna go to the kitchen. Location was further than I thought. Booked this hostel for the AC with the bed, but I didn't need it since it wasn't so hot that day. My roommates were the worst :( Not the hostels fault, but didn't sleep well bc upper bed was loudly listening to her phone all night....

I stayed in a 6 bed female dorm. Everything was easy to set up. I did have an issue with being locked out of the little safe but staff were super helpful and assisted me with getting it open. The hostel wasn't loud at all, instead it has quite a calming and chill atmosphere which was what I was after.

Location was a bit of a pain - closest tube stations are about a 10-15 minute walk which is doable.

Central location, en-suite toilet and shower plus two washbasins (!), friendly staff, plenty of common areas. There’s also a bar and a small café.

The breakfast was nice, but after a few days it would be good to have a bit more variety

This is a great hostel - really nice building and good facilities. All the staff seem nice but there is a member of staff there that has checked me in couple of times now that is absolutely lovely. I'm sorry I didn't note her name but when you walk in, she is actively looking to help people and is really kind. Exactly the sort of person you want greeting you after a challenging journey.

This visit wasn't quite as good as previous ones because it felt like the cleaning staff were rather stretched e.g. toilet paper running out, bins not being emptied; however, some people in my room really weren't helping and I don't think it was the cleaning staff's job to clear up all the dirty crockery that someone left up there for days for example. I also wondered if one of the other guests actually took the toilet paper... All my previous visits have been great though.

Great hostel with clean and modern rooms and bathrooms. Super nice staff. Lovely common area with a bar, big kitchen, cafe.

The room was quite chilly and there wasn’t anything that the reception could do about it. However they did give me another blanket, which definitely helped!

Overall, pretty good especially for London hostels. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were spacious and beds were comfortable. The facilities are also pretty good. Its accessible to two train stations, at a 10 and 12 minute walk each. Grocery store is a 3 minute walk. So location is decent. Coffee in the mornings was amazing (shoutout to Suki for those)!

There was some noise at nights which wouldve been better to avoid, but honestly nothing crazy.

They removed my luggage from a private locker I had rented daily with a digital password, allowing them to re-rent the same locker while relocating my belongings to an unsecured, non-private room. This was an unpleasant and unacceptable practice. Other than that, I must say that the hostel is nice and comfortable.

An amazing experience at Wombat City hostel. I met amazing travelers and the staff was really kind.

Not enough power sockets

Very easy check in process and it was very easy to set up the locker in the room. I was concerned about the large room size, but it was very quiet and the curtains help with privacy. Bathroom and toilet were both very clean. Perfect location for someone running the Big Half and decent value for being so central. Good WiFi as well!

Each bed had a personal fan but I didn't switch mine on because it was horrendously dusty. Only one lift working so the wait was a bit annoying, especially when staying on a higher floor.

Loved staying here! The rooms were really well set up, and the safe at the end of the bed was very handy. I felt very safe the whole time, and the staff were happy to help with any issues. The kitchen was also really well set up to cook your own food. Great facilities. Would stay here again!

The buffet breakfast was very basic and disappointing. Easier and better to go to the supermarket down the street and make your own.

Great location! A short walk to the tube and tower of London with easy access to amenities. Nice social bar space in the basement with karaoke nights, although I didn’t make friends. Nice kitchen space, outdoor seating area, and laundry room which was convenient and the suburb felt very safe. Loved the curtained bunks and they also had lockers in the room which were carry on suitcase size, and small safe for valuables but I did not use it. Thankful that it was convenient to extend my stay! Also the breakfast was decent! Lots of options like bread with ham and cheese, oats, yoghurt, cereals, coffees and teas, fruit, carrot and cucumber sticks and hummus.

They make you put your own sheets on the bed and put the duvet and pillow covers on? I have never had that at a hostel which I thought was very strange.

The hostel was spacious, very comfortable, and exceptionally clean. Its location was excellent, and it offered a variety of facilities, including an in-house café and bar. My room even had a private shower and toilet, which was a great bonus. I would highly recommend staying here!

Two things I didn't like about this hostel: 1- The staff weren't as friendly & helpful as I would expect and not at all sociable. 2- guests were required to pay £10 to use washers & dryers which in my opinion, was a rip-off.

Wombats was clean and had large lockers to lock away suitcases, and I felt safe and comfortable there. Staff were super friendly and accomodating also. I’d highly recommend staying there.

All The hostel is the best one I have ever been. Since I stay London for 3 hostel and have been stay hostel in Spain and Danmark

The bed was comfortable, and the sheets were soft and really white. I stayed in an 8-bed room big enough for all of us and our belongings. The beds are fixed to the walls, so if somebody moves while sleeping, you don't notice the movement. strongly recommend this place. The hostel offers extra activities for the guests, like Karaoke nights and yoga. I missed the yoga class, but just the possibility of doing it was great!

I arrived one hour before the check-in, so I just asked if my reservation was ok. I didn't want an early check-in. After travelling a lot, I wanted to know if everything was in order with the reservation, but the receptionist refused to do that. There weren't other people at the reception, so I wasn't delaying anybody. Is that much a problem to ask my name and check the dates I was staying?? I have worked as a receptionist and I can assure you that this is not a problem at all. Fortunately, the rest of the stuff is amazing and they helped me a lot!

The location is very nice close to the tower station and has lot of restaurants around it. Kitchen and facilities are amazing for someone who wants to cook and eat. I like that they have lot of space to work too.

I see that staff is not that friendly to accommodate guest requests. I have issues with sleeping in a dark place and I was given an -1 room which i requested to change and they mentioned there is no place. I cannot believe as there are more than 200 beds in the whole complex. Also the reception staff was not helpful to find me my dorm room even when I went to ask them about it. I do expect a bit more friendly behavior for people who have come for the first time to there location.

I think this place is amazing! It was better than I expected, and I wish i could stayed longer 😊 it has everything you might need and more. I really appreciated the fact that it has a separated bar and all the activities they do in there! People were always really nice and helpful

This is not hostels fault at all, its really on the people but be careful with you food, I even labeled mine but sadly someone took it

The rooms were very clean and well maintained. The beds were great, with small lockers, a fan & curtains on the bed. Also large & secure lockers with keycard access. The cafe & bar (with activity nights) were fabulous as were the common areas.

No complaints at all!

I was in female only room, the room was spacious enough and the bathroom and showers were separated from the room (but still inside the room) so you could shower without bothering the rest, there are privacy curtains and lockers. The facilities at the kitchen were good, it was well equipped and mostly clean. The location is good, close enough to public transport, while there is no tube strike, it's easy to get around.

I didn't feel the staff too much, they were nice when I needed them. The outlets in the room are not universal! I forgot that the UK is not the same as the rest of Europe, there is only one USB port and it was slow charging so couldn't charge my power bank (I got an adapter from one of the girls in the room) but honestly didn't affect the overall great experience I had (I stayed in September so it wasn't too hot but there is no ac in the room, I imagine in the summer its hot)
