Residency Hotel Fort, Mumbai

Excellent mid-sized hotel in great location in the Fort area. Absolutely outstanding staff - from Gopal and Rajiv in the reception lobby who helped us with ATMs, tailors, airport and other taxis, repairers...you name it. David - the maitre d' of the breakfast room is a saint who manages to accommodate and feed many people at the same time in the small-ish breakfast room. He's a gem as are the other breakfast waiters and the wonderful man who makes superb omelettes and dosas to order - thank you all!

Rooms are small. This is the only reason it is less expensive

Fantastic location within easy walking distance of Mumbai sites and central station. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was great.

Room was squeezy. Annoying inswinging door to bathroom and walk in shower, causing water to spray on floor. Ensuite not ventilated, rather heavily sealed to prevent moisture leak into the bedroom. Floors had residual grime.

Airco and water pipes were making some noise at night. Received a phising mesdage feom them in my.boojing messages to fill in card details, do not do that, forward it to booking.

I highly recommend this place.The staff was amazing! Rajesh and Keshar and everybody else helped a lot to us, organized everything and always were there if we need. The breakfast was very good and delicious, traditional indian food. Free masala chai tea and coffee available all day, we liked it very much. We always received a warm welcome when we returned to the hotel. The room was a bit old, but it wasn’t a problem because it was always very clean! The bed and the matrasse also very clean. They cleaned the room everyday. Very well located, safe area, the Marine Drive, The Gateway of India, the CST station or the Colaba Causeway just a walking distance. I hope someday we will return.

This is a great affordable option to stay in the heart of Fort in Mumbai. Best bits were the location which is perfectly located to walk to some of the main sights and has some great restaurants very near by. Also the staff were exceptional, they went out of their way to help and support; organising luggage repair, finding late night snacks and negotiating taxis, nothing was too much and they were awesome, really made our stay memorable. Thank you! Rooms were refreshed and water provided daily and the breakfast was decent (limited but tasty options). Room felt clean and secure. Good wifi, area felt safe.

This is an inner city hotel at a reasonable rate, so keep in mind the rooms are quite small. They were perfectly fine for a few days but travelling as a couple with cases we did struggle a bit for floorspace. The shower was quite pokey

Excellent service from the friendliest staff! The breakfast was delicious and cooked to order. Good coffee. Fantastic location in Mumbai - walkable to lots of tourist sights and there are loads of restaurants and shops nearby.

The mattress was well worn with dips on each side of the bed, so not very comfortable. There was a mechanical noise at regular intervals throughout the night - no idea what it was but if you’re a light sleeper maybe take earplugs! Only minor points though - I’d still recommend staying here.

Location and service

Awesome staff, decent breakfast and an excellent location.

The rooms and washrooms are too small. Also there are no windows for ventilating the rooms which makes it suffocating after a while. The surroundings are under construction so our experience wasn't to the best of the hotel's potential.

Great location, 10 minute walk from the main train station. Half an hour walk to Gate of India and other sightseeing locations nearby. Loads of good restaurants and cafes nearby. Service was excellent, warm welcome on arrival. Breakfast was good with a live dosa, waffle station. Room was decent size, lots of hot water in the shower, nice shampoo etc provided. Good WiFi. Very clean room and bathroom. Towels changed daily if needed. Really comfortable bed. We also had laundry done which was reasonably priced and returned in 24 hours. Really good hotel would happily stay again.

The friendliness of all the staff who were always polite and willing to help. The breakfast was really good and the free tea and coffee between 18:00 and 21:00 was a welcome addition. In addition, the location is perfect for exploring the Fort area of Mumbai.

The hotel's booking.com page was hacked before our stay and I kept receiving threatening messages on the site and also over whatsapp asking for payments through dodgy links. The hotel was apologetic about this, but did not manage to address the issue during our stay. The minibar in our room produced a buzzing sound which woke us up during the first two nights, however once notified the staff immediately helped us to unplug it. The room was overall a bit run down, with ripped bedsheets, peeling paint, dust under the bed and limescale in the shower.

A good hotel in Mumbai. It’s about a 20-minute walk to the Gateway of India and other major attractions, but there are plenty of great restaurants nearby. The neighborhood is overall very pleasant, and the breakfast is delicious and satisfying!

The staff is the best thing about this hotel, very polite, and helped me with everything I needed! I came earlier than normal and had to work, they brought me to their nicer hotel to work there and it was something they didn't need to do but that shows how much they are willing to make you comfortable.

Personally, I think that Mumbai itself is very expensive when it comes to hotels. For €100/ night. The standard room I had was too expensive. The finishing of the walls, furniture, and the location of the hotel are not worth €100/night. The area is supposed to be a posh district but it definitely didn't look like it. Also, the day I had to check out, I didn't have warm water anymore, couldn't tell them because I didn't have any time left to pack and leave. The room is just not worth that money, I have stayed in hotels for less than €100/night and those had bigger and nicer rooms.

The main highlights of this place are the staff, location and breakfast. The staff were probably the most helpful and friendly I’ve seen in a very long time, anywhere in the world. Better than many 5 star hotels I’ve stayed at. Location was also amazing, could do a lot walking and the area was really nice, close to many bazaars and main sights.

The room I stayed at was not the best. It could definitely do with some refurbishment, especially in the bathroom. Extractor fan in the bathroom was not working and TV was very old fashioned.

We experienced a lovely hotel room which was clean, peaceful and well appointed. We have travelled around India for the past 5 weeks and this was one of the best hotels we have stayed in. There is a 2nd building nearby which isn’t attached to the main hotel. The main building is where we checked in and had breakfast. The adjacent 2nd building was where our hotel room was. There is construction work going on in the street. However it didn’t impact our stay. Breakfast was also one of the best we have had on our travels. The staff were warm, friendly and helpful. The barista who made our cappuccinos was a true artist. We also had in-depth help with planning a trip to Matheran from the concierge. Also a mention to concierge, Rajesh who was extremely helpful with our Uber Driver who couldn’t find the hotel location. We stayed at this hotel on Two occasions and would definitely recommend this hotel.

1. They think I didn't notice that they didn't give me the Club Heritage Room that I booked and instead put me up in an old double room upstairs they call 'Indigo Suite' that appeared quite dated 2. Breakfast is tense as the dining area is very tiny and overcrowded so they keep asking you if you have finished so they can allot another guest your table. 3. There was a makeup stain on the blanket and the wifi didn't work. Limited number of TV channels. 4. The bathroom could be scrubbed better. 5. The view was a terrace full of junkyard from their Indigo Suite and there were labourers lurking around there. 6. No charging points near the beds and the table in the room has faulty drawers. 7. Toiletries are provided but no body lotion or toothbrush. 8. The hotel is in the crowded downtown area and it can get noisy. 9. Quite pricey for what they are actually offering.

All staff were very helpful, courteous. Breakfast was bang on. Location is near to kala ghoda, Marine drive, gateway, marathon start point. So close to all necessitates.
