Breakfast was excellent, with lots of choices and variety!

The setting and deco at Spa is excellent, but I had better massage and scrubbing elsewhere in Bangkok.

It is an oasis in the city. Very quiet and well appointed.

I was disappointed to be told last minute that the club wing was closed. The normal hotel rooms are much older and nowhere near as nice as the club rooms. was still very happy with my stay however.

The hôtel is such an old world haven in the bustling cacophony that Bangkok has become. The staff was amazing and a fell asleep dreaming about the amazing breakfast buffet. Definitely the perfect base for exploring Bangkok.

Sukhothai is an urban oasis in downtown Bangkok. My room overlooked a beautiful lotus pond and there are fountains and statues throughout the property. The room was a bit older style but with high quality materials and I stayed over my birthday during a work trip and my room was decorated with a happy birthday sign, flowers, and a cake which was a very thoughtful gesture. The on-site restaurant Celadon is also excellent and in a magical location and the breakfast was one of the best I’ve ever been to in terms of quality and selection.

The location wasn’t ideal for me but I took a taxi around and it was fine. Not sure what I would have thought if I planned to take public transport more during my stay.

Timeless elegance

The Sukhothai is a legendary hotel. I'd heard a lot about it before going. This was my first time staying here and everything exceeded my already very high expectations. The entire property was incredibly beautiful with trees and lotus ponds, and so spacious and quiet, even though it's at the heart of Bangkok. The breakfast was excellent with many choices to satisfy guests. I especially loved the noodle bar with a chef cooking for guests, and the fresh juice bar that had fresh coconuts opened on demand. The pool, and the pool area were enormous, and the pool was great for exercise if you like swimming laps. My room (in the Club Wing) was beautiful and spacious (with walk-in closet) and so clean. The staff here was among the best I've ever encountered in any hotel, incredibly friendly and helpful. Also, there are two famous restaurants at The Sukhothai – Celadon (Thai), and La Scala (Italian). I can't recommend The Sukhothai enough.

Everything!! It was absolutely one of the best places I’ve stayed in. The room was lovely and comfortable, the food was exceptional and the staff were amazing.

The only minor thing is the club lounge stops serving alcohol early and it would’ve been nice to have a night cap but it really wasn’t a big problem.

The toilet in the room had a bad smell which should be looked into and not happen in a premium hotel.

A quiet oasis in the city. Grounds were beautiful as were all the restaurants lobby etc. Booked a car to the airport for 4 am and they had our coffees and snack breakfast ready for our drive. Exceptional service!

Nothing it was perfect

We always stay at the Sukhothai when visiting Bangkok. The property is beautiful and in a great location but what makes it special is the team at the hotel. Without exception, they go out of their way to make your stay special.

The tranquil atmosphere - a real contrast to the noise & vibrancy of the city. We stayed in a club room with view over the pool. Beds so comfortable & really luxurious bathrooms (toilet with heated seats!! Fabulous buffet breakfast. Great gym. Lovely staff. Great location only 6mins walk to metro.

I had an absolutely wonderful stay at Sukhothai Bangkok and would happily rate it a 10/10. The property is stunning, blending elegance with comfort seamlessly. A special shoutout to the incredible staff—Pim from Celadon was a delight, making every meal memorable with her warmth and professionalism (get the Tasting Menu if you have the time). The housekeeping team also deserves praise; even when I missed the regular cleaning time, they were quick to accommodate my requests with efficiency and a smile. Every detail was thoughtfully handled, making this a truly exceptional experience. Highly recommend!

Largest breakfast selection I’ve ever seen, most stunning pool, lovely staff and a huge well equipped gym. The rooms are large but for the main part of the hotel they are looking a little tired and dated. If you can, stay in the Club rooms in the new building by the pool as those rooms are much more modern

The new pool landscaping is not great. The kitchen stand is poorly decorated and could be much classier.

Great old-school authentic hotel. Doesn’t feel like a cookie-cutter corporate hotel. Rooms are big. Facilities are great. Breakfast is exceptional!!!

Could do with some small renovations. In the entry where the wall sconces are missing and the silk panels are scorched from the old bulbs. Replace these for heavens sake. It lets your whole property down. Gym (proper) could be improved slightly. Staff could be more genuine and inviting. Fans in the bar are too loud.

Luxurious hotel in keeping with 5 star status. The staff were charming and the breakfast was expansive. We spent the day relaxing around the pool prior to an evening flight and it was an absolute pleasure being there.

I don’t normally leave reviews but this hotel in Bangkok was amongst the best I have ever stayed in. I have previously stayed in the Peninsula and Oriental but they are too pretentious. The Sukhothai is an oasis in the bustling city. As soon as you step onto the long drive flanked by streams with lotus flowers you feel relaxed. The buildings are elegant and beautiful and the fittings are top quality but understated. The club building and pool area were serene and calming. Our suite was beautifully furnished with a huge lounge, bathroom and bedroom. We both stated we could retire there! The breakfast was sumptuous and everything was home made. All the staff were friendly and attentive. Everyone greeted you with a warm smile. Would return tomorrow!

This lovely oasis has the most wonderful staff! I was admitted to the #1 hospital, Bunrungrad International, seen first by a Dr in my suite, whisked away by ambulance, all arranged by the manager Patrick. And then received an enormous bouquet of roses, tulips, and hydrangea that he had delivered to my room. After my 4 day stay in hospital, I needed 2 more at the hotel to rest, and they gave me a reduced rate for the same suite. Additionally, the concierge Toon then arranged for a driver and itinerary for me for the evening and following day, which allowed me to see the city at night on a river cruise, then the two main attractions, Wat Pho and Wat Arun the next day. I cannot express enough gratitude for their entire staff (who all seemed to know I'd been ill!) and their kindness. And the spa? Fabulous! Dao gave me a perfect massage after 4 days in a hospital bed! Kudos to the Sukothai Bangkok...OUTSTANDING!!

Very comfortable stay with a good location.

Need an additional suitcase stand for two suitcases. More wardrobe space would also be good. The gym especially was exceptional. Needs a bit of cleaning around the free weights.

We really enjoyed our stay - a quick two nights in Bangkok before heading to the islands. Big, comfortable room and excellent, attentive staff. We particularly enjoyed the pool (which has a great food menu) and the buffet breakfast was excellent. Would recommend!

It was almost 40 degrees C....a fleece lined bathrobe was far too hot to wear!

The hotel has a well-deserved reputation as a higher end accommodation in Bangkok. The staff is very friendly, helpful and always available. The room was comfortable and quiet, facing the inner courtyard. The full-size pool was among the better hotel pools I have seen and perfect for a morning swim - or afternoon lounge with food and drinks. The breakfast buffet was extraordinary in quality and variety of the offerings, local, Japanese, Chinese, Indian, Western... a single visit is not enough to even sample all. The hotel is within walking distance to several restaurants, Lumphini Park and the subway system.
