Great Northern Hotel, London

Location and staff were excellent

Rails wasn't as good as we had hoped. Pricey and limited menu. Room bathroom needed more space to put stuff. Towels were changed everyday, wasn't a way to save the environment.

Good location if you’re arriving or departing by train, can’t really get much closer to the train station or underground. Nicely modernised heritage building, tastefully done. Breakfast was served in the lovely Rails restaurant, all cooked on demand and served to your table.

Not quite sure what happened - but at check in we were advised they could only assign us accessible (i.e. for wheelchair users) rooms, and as a result we were split across rooms on different floors. Not the end of the world, just had to be aware of the emergency pull cords around the room and the open/wet bathroom. But this was our last hotel stay in a multi week holiday, and we had splashed out a bit to stay here for our final night in the UK, so a bit disappointing to feel like our booking had slipped through the cracks.

The room ( couchette) was even smaller than I expected and really too small for a couple. No in room tea and coffee because of size constraints though there was a pantry down the hall. You could only get into the bed from one side ( against the window on the other) The room was advertised as reminiscent of railway travel but I was still surprised by the reality. The location was fantastic but really only suitable for one person

The location was excellent and the staff were so friendly. The breakfast was well presented and lots of choice.

Super convenient location as I was travelling from the North to the South with an overnight stop. Room was clean, well-appointed and comfortable, but most importantly to me, very quiet. Great to catch up on some much-needed sleep. That said, if a night out was on the agenda, this is a good location for getting to many of the high spots with a lot of good restaurants and bars within walking distance or a short cab ride away. After a great breakfast, there was time to explore Coal Drops Yard which is close by and have a walk along the canal towpath.

Location is very convenient, being right next to St. Pancras station but surprisingly I did not hear any trains from our room, it was lovely and quiet. The shutters ensured that the light was blocked from the window which also contributed to a very comfortable night's sleep. The vibe was relaxed and elegant with a bit of an 1920/30's feel to the decor - very nice and chilled. Everywhere was spotlessly clean and the service was top notch. Totally recommend and will stay again.

Had an excellent stay. My luggage was kindly stored both at arrival (I was early) and departure. Excellent breakfast, lovely venue. Excellent position for both St Pancras, King's Cross and Underground.

Street was a bit noisy at night - not a major issue.

Excellent breaktast and lunch. Room is very quiet and comfortable! Really like the design of our bedroom.

The decor and boutique feel to the hotel.

The room was really nice, and they manage to accommodate my request for a room with a bath. The bathroom was of a sensible size.

It was a shame that a hotel could not accommodate leaving 2 bags with them for a few hours whilst I attended the Remembrance Parade. I was asked at reception if I had a booking, which I didn't for that day, but had stayed on the Saturday night.

The room was perfect for one. Only drawbacks were no kettle to make tea and no shelf/ desk with mirror for work or hair tongs etc. Designed for males more than females I think.

Would have very much liked a kettle in my room to make tea. Room seemed designed more for males than females e.g. no shelf with an electric point and mirror so had to put hairtongs on the floor.

Packed breakfast for our early start was excellent. Pantry facility was good. Restaurant was marvellous. Person on reception was very helpful, helped us take our cases to our room and arrange packed breakfast.

We could not get any hot water through the sink tap even after letting it run for quite a while. The bedside lights did work on the window side of the bed.

The entire hotel and staff were amazing! The room was spotless and beautiful. The convenience of location made it so easy to get around and do all that we needed. Would love to stay here again!

The only disappointing thing was the AC unit wasn't very robust. We were quite hot in the room but both the fan and temperature were unable to be turned down anymore. Luckily it wasn't a scorching hot day or else this would have been even more problematic.

The Hotel is brilliantly situated for central London, with easy access to both Kings Cross, Euston and the Tube. Most places to visit are within about 20 Minutes travel in all directions and the dining experience within the hotel is excellent. Although right in the edge of Kings Cross station the rooms are quiet and the additional floor pantry is a nice touch and add value to this hotel.

During our stay the hotels water heating system went down which meant that on our first morning we had to have cold showers, this was a whole hotel issue so not the fault of the staff etc. and was resolved when we returned to the room, it would however have been nice if the hotel had recognised this may be with a free drink in the bar etc. but I am being slightly picky about this.

The room was lovely and comfortable with a great view over the roof of Kings Cross station. The restaurant staff were charming and friendly, despite the fact that I turned up just before the end of service. Food lovely. Toiletries were beautiful and nespresso in the room fab. The double glazing cut out all the noise of the station.

When I arrived, the staff on reception were a little stressed and coping with some guests who wanted to change rooms. Not the friendly welcome I was expecting after a long journey from Cornwall.

Room was smaller than we expected and it was a bit of a struggle with luggage through the many doors.

Very close for the Eurostar x property well designed to counteract any traffic noise x delicious food in the restaurant and extremely attentive service x room well designed for 16m squared x large bathroom for the room size

Unusual to have table served breakfast. I liked it. Good quality. Care taken Eg I noticed fresh orange juice used chilled oranges. Great!

The location was perfect for our itinerary. Layout a little odd but it is a Victorian hotel.

Confirmed price from booking.com was different to what hotel charged. They initially deducted from credit card £100 more than confirmed price plus a £100 extra bond. This was eventually rectified - and everyone was very nice and helpful,but it tooabout 5 days for those funds to be released back to my credit card.

We wanted to relax after a busy day but there is limited seating in the upstairs and downstairs bars and the drinks menu upstairs didn’t show any hot drinks. The downstairs bar has doors that open straight into Kings Cross station but these were locked so we had to go out in heavy rain to enter through the main entrance.
