Buswells Hotel, Dublin

Expert reviews

The Guardian review:

“Buswells is a Dublin institution that offers restrained Georgian opulence in the heart of town. Rooms are compact and well-appointed, with those on the lower floors boasting higher ceilings, as is the case with nearly all of Dublin’s 18th-century town houses.”

Telegraph review:

“Snug, welcoming, and quietly atmospheric, Buswells enjoys a prominent setting just across the road from the Irish Parliament. Come here for a comfortable home from home right at the very heart of Dublin life.”

very comfortable, great location and wonderful friendly helpful staff.

location was just wonderful - walking distance to everything in the city.

I had just had knee replacement surgery and found that even when using the elevator there were steps to my room....

Lovely, clean and welcoming

Really nice room, friendly check in staff and seamless check out. I let them know it was my partners birthday when booking and they left lovely chocolates in our room.

Night porter wasn’t that friendly when we arrived back late (only 2am, it’s Dublin)

Good stay could do with improvements

The location was great and the beds were extremely comfortable. Bedroom was very big for three people. The spanish man at reception was lovely and very helpful. The general aesthetic of the hotel was beautiful.

We called reception a few times for a few different things like toothpaste and a radiator and it took a while for them to get things to us, and we had to call twice to get things up to us. There was a lot of condensation on the windows and you need a heater on to stay warm as the radiators are controlled by a central heating system - this seemed a bit unusual for a more expensive hotel. Some of the furniture was on the older side and could do with being replaced or restored. Overall it was a good stay but I don’t know if it’s worth the price, and the general vibe in the hotel was a bit snooty.

Other than the breakfast situation we had a lovely time.

The location was great, the room was good, enjoyed the faciities except for breakfast. The decor of the hotel was lovely and the gentleman at the door was more than helpful. The bar staff were also very helpful.

We had not booked in for breakfast and when we went to the dining room the next morning we were told that breakfast would be 25 euro each which I felt was far to expensive. I did explain that we had stayed the night but it made no different. We went down Grafton Street and had an amazing breakfast for 15 euro each/

Last ot The Great Dublin Hotels

The hotel is in a great location..old style dublin hotel with a lovely ambience that is uniquely Dublin..you could feel the ghost of Michael Collins ...Room was perfect located on the Molesworth side..Staff friendly and the Concierge who was a Dub was really friendly and helpful..Last of the old style Dublin hotels..

Everything was perfect...no faults

Strangely disappointing- I expected better

Very warm and comfortable, lovely room and bathroom.

My welcome was poor- I was “accused” of booking two rooms! And I emphasise “accused”.. very harsh tone used by the young receptionist. She needs to be trained better in customer care.. Breakfast staff has some issues understanding my requests and hence got them wrong.. before they proceeded to have their own breakfasts from the same buffet! A very average breakfast also. Wifi/connection wasn’t working for me, had to go out on the street to text/call!
