Wonderful location, beautiful view from the room on the 18th floor. Clean and comfortable room. Great shower. All amenities provided. Staff at the hotel were very helpful in calling someone when my taxi did not arrive.

There is no free coffee or creamer or milk provided in the room. This seems unusual as Brazilians drink coffee so not sure why instant coffee was not provided and one had to pay for to use a Nespresso ( no milk provided) . These are small touches that elevate an experience.

Upper floors facing the ocean…exactly the vibe we were looking for. The room had a comfortable bed, ample sitting room, and plenty of space. Breakfast should not be missed—great variety and conscientious staff helping everywhere. Walking distance to a ton of food and drink options (and a rooftop bar & pool that’s lovely.) Great place to come “home” to after touristy side trips. Spent hours on the beautiful balcony (day and night) seeing the activities and listening to the calming waves. Nothing better!

It was a one night treat cause of canceled flight. Everything was perfect, we entered super comfy room round 10am!! (check in starts at 3pm), next to the beach, great view from rooftop bar, great breakfast.

Location friendly staff great breakfast one of the best in Brazil. I’ve been here over 15 times it’s amazing since 2017.

The staff especially Franco at the front desk were super helpful and accommodating. The rooftop bar and restaurant. at the pool. The views. The proximity to everything. The overall professionalism and making you feel at home.

Perfect location across the street from Copacabana Beach, within walking distance of many restaurants, shops and other hotels. Great rooftop bar and pool, though the weather was not the best when we were there. Amazing breakfast room with beach views and wonderful selections of fruit, breads, cheeses, meats, pastries, etc. Very friendly and helpful staff, comfortable lobby area. Loved our sea view room with balcony and cozy comfy king bed, wonderful bathroom and shower, also we had a nice sitting area with a sofa and table. Very comfortable.

I visited this hotel two times. For fist time I live in 8 floor, and have good room with balcony, have coffee machine. Second time live on the 7 floor. Breakfast is super, a lot of fruits. In hotel have small swimming pool, but I decided didn’t use it, amazing panoramic view for all Copacobana area, nice cocktails on the bar. Friendly personal, good luggage service, nice staff for this and security. From Rusia with love.

In copacobana beach I feel a little bit no so security like in leblon beach. And one manager of resection ( woman) was not very polite.

The location, good breakfast, the pool area was nice but it was raining so we couldn’t really enjoy it.

Even though we were on 11th floor you could hear everything from the street the noise from outside and music from restaurants.Also didn’t like being harassed by ladies outside entrance of building every evening where security should be more stern as many other guests said same to me. The elevators are small and slow.

Excellent customer service. I couldn’t recommend this place more. They made us feel safe and welcomed.

Lovely room and balcony

Terrible noise of furniture moving and banging at all hours of the day and night ( even at 4 am-7 am) coming from the room above which I informed them of 2 nights before anything was done. They also didn’t offer me anything by way of compensation just kind of shrugged their shoulders, until they moved the other guest finally on our fourth night.

The staff have always been great, I have been staying g st the Portobay since 2003.

The lack of lifts. Only two small lifts in the whole building. Sometimes we were left waiting for over 5 minutes and when the lift arrived it would be full so we had to wait another 5 minutes for the next lift.

All good unlucky with weather

We had a fantastic 7 nights stay at The Portobay Hotel. It was easy to check in with sparkling wine offered on arrival. Our 16th floor side view room was spacious, clean and comfortable. From our balcony in one direction, we could see the beach to the far end and in the other Christ the Redeemer up on the hill. The location of this hotel is perfect as it is close to bars/restaurants and just across the road to the beach and sea. There is a courtesy beach service that offers chairs and towels for staying guests as well as staff that look after you and your personal belongings if you want to go off for a walk or a swim. The breakfast buffet on the 5th floor had so much choice - hot items, cheeses, cold meats, fresh fruit, pastries and more, everything was good quality. We liked the fact that breakfast was open from 6.30am (great for our early start excursion days) until 10.30am (after a good night out) The pool and bar area located on the 20th floor was a superb place to relax with very comfy sunbeds and parasols. The view from up here is great as you can see the whole stretch of Copacabana beach. We were able to book some excursions at reception kindly guided by Tamiris and enjoyed all three days plus the Roxy Dinner Show. The greatest asset to this hotel is the staff, though we cannot name all of them we would like to say a special thanks to; Alice, Franco and Tamiris (Reception), Wellington and Carlinhos (Breakfast), Jose and Miguel (Pool Bar) and Daniel (Security). Also a big thanks to the staff at the beach and the housekeeping team. We would highly recommend The Portabay Hotel to family, friends and all:)

Absolutely nothing.

We loved the location, the breakfast and the room was clean and comfortable for our 2 day stay. The pool area was also gorgeous with a great view of the city.

The gym was a little basic and the elevators take a very very long time to come up and down and are also quite small so you have to wait for fairly long periods of time.

Wasn't offered a water whilst waiting for my room. Other guests where served Champagne. Could use soundproofing. Noisy guests and staff during cleaning. Only 2 guest elevators in a 20 floor hotel.

The hotel was beautiful and comfortable. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The breakfast was perfect. The rooms were impeccably decorated, and the beds were super comfortable. I regret not extending my stay.

The location is really good, literally in front of the beach. They have a nice swimming pool on the top as well. Rooms are spacious with nice terrace and big beds.

It definitely needs renovation. The hotel has that specific smell, like humid smell and it can be smelled everywhere. Breakfast is good, you can find a lot of different foods but they never change it. I have stayed for 9 nights, everyday food was the same.
