Santa Teresa Hotel, Rio de Janeiro

The hotel is nice and located in the very vibrant and historic Santa Teresa area, which we really enjoyed.

We were disappointed by the overall quality of the facilities, especially considering the price. The mattresses and sheets felt quite old, the shower was leaky, and the bathroom overall was not in great condition.

Room service took an exceptionally long time, and in general the staff did not feel particularly attentive. The music in the pool area was also very loud, and despite asking for it to be turned down, our request was ignored.

Beautiful hotel in a great location. The decor was beautiful and felt very relaxing

24 hours before we arrived we were told that part of the pool deck was closed which had the amazing views , there were workman there every day. Plus there was no inside bar to relax ! We did talk to a management and they did organise for us to use facilities of other hotels 20
Minutes away which was nice but a 20% discount on room should have been offered!

Superb laid back and stylish. A lovely hotel located just out of the bustle and busy streets with lovely grounds and pool with a good bar/cafe. The staff were great, going out of their way to accommodate our needs and take care of us. Our evening meal in the equally stylish restaurant was very good. Overall, I could not think of a nicer place to stay, so much better than the bland big hotels.

The hotel was good situated, they had a nice terras were you could look over the city and the interieur was nice

there was no elevator, and the view of the room was not that nice and the room was a bit small.

Nothing to do with the property. That was amazing. But the cobbled steep hill with hairpin bends put some taxi drivers off.

My stay at Santa Teresa Hotel RJ - MGallery was absolutely fabulous! From the moment I arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. The front desk girl (I wish I remembered her name!) was incredibly attentive and made me feel truly welcomed.

One of the highlights of my experience was how helpful the hotel was when my flight was severely delayed. They accommodated my situation by arranging a late check-out, which made a world of difference and allowed me to relax rather than stress about where to wait.

The ambience of the hotel is nothing short of magical—a super beautiful space that perfectly blends luxury with the charm of Santa Teresa. Whether it was the décor, the serene atmosphere, or the little details in service, everything exceeded my expectations.

No Gym facility

The hotel is super nice, facilities are also great and staff is what makes the stay great.

Some parts need maintenance, such as the restaurant’s bathroom.

Strange and small breakfast, avocado toast was just three slices of avocado and bread.

The hotel is truly an urban refuge in a fascinating area of Rio. Staff are courteous, welcoming and accommodating. Rooms are comfortable. The restaurant is excellent and the facilities are of a high standard.

The bathroom area in our room was tired and needed a deep clean and renovation.

The hotel is beautiful, we enjoyed every moment there. The breakfast is delicious and the pool has the perfect view for sunset. The staff were nice and helpful. They also have a great spa.

Amazing, after a more recent choice to go a la carte they went back to their stunning buffer breakfast. I was quite annoyed by the chance in my previous stay so they upgraded me to a stunning room and got me fruit and a lovely card; they know how to do luxury; it is my favorite hotel in Rio and one of my favorite in the world; it is an oasis a resort in the heart of Rio. Just amazing

The property could benefit from a bit of renovation as many reviews say, but for me the charm of this place is so outstanding that minor details don’t matter

Nice hotel in 'old colonial ' style. Staff very good, lovely pool, garden, outside bar. Very different from beach or business area hotels

Would have been nice to have a comfortable chair in the room. The "shabby chic" floor finish was a bit disconcerting. Probably a bit more expensive than it should be.

The historical significance, the modern and classical design, all the nature and spa.

Our room 21 was not as interesting as in the photo i.e., there wasn’t a bed canopy. The writing on the mirror didn’t feel like a feature of a 5-star hotel. The tv is very small for the distance from the bed, but at the same time, I don’t think a tv is necessary. I wish the jacuzzi had hot water.

Fantastic romantic property on top of a hill with upscale amenities and great friendly service. Check-in was smooth and attentive to details (they had already asked the name of my travel companion ahead of time). The room was up some stairs (no elevator) but was magical, with big windows facing the city of Rio. The property itself is an urban oasis, with a lovely pool and top class restaurant. Breakfast was top notch also. It is a pricey property but worth it for a spurge. Nice welcome cookies, slippers, and personal photograph.

Pricey but worth it. Bathroom door didn't close fully. The shower is difficult to adjust to get the right temperature.

A lovely oasis of calm in the middle of Santa Teresa. The bedrooms are spacious and the beds are extremely comfortable, we had the best night sleep here. Our room had a small patio which overlooked a beautifully kept garden.

The pool area and pool bar are very comfortable and great views of the city centre.

Breakfast was included in the room right? It was à la cart which was different to all the other hotels we stayed in. There was fabulous choice and the waiting staff suggested trying things we had never had during our three weeks in Brazil.

The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful and made you feel at home

The location is excellent - just a couple of minutes walk to Largoa de Guimaraes with it’s restaurants, bars and the tram stop.

3pm is a late check-in time.

Quiet place

I didn’t like the breakfast .

I loved the decor, the view is incredible, and the staff is lovely. I messed up my dates on a non-refundable booking and left, but they changed them free of charge for me. They also checked me into my room at 10 a.m., as it happened to be available.

Will be back when the weather is nicer to make the most of the outdoor facilities. It was very unfortunate that it rained my whole stay but the restaurant was cosy, and the veranda from my room was lovely for watching the garden in the rain.

Not enough staff to clean around guests meaning empty bottle and dishes standing around the property for a long time. The bathrooms and decor needs a serious revamp

The location and the view of the city were amazing. A short walking distance you’ll find a few local restaurants and bars. The ambiance was great. The staffing was polite, helpful. I would definitely recommend to friends and family.

Staff were so friendly and helpful, the food was so good, room was tranquil and super clean. I used the spa as well and can't fault the service or the facilities. I had a lovely break away and highly recommend.
