Fairmont Royal York Hotel, Toronto

The breakfast was a lot more expensive than I would normally pay, but the quality of the food, the efficiency and politeness of the staff and the general ambiance of the restaurant won me over! The location of the hotel was perfect as I was using Union station every day. Overall it is a very classy hotel.

Difficult to find fault but if there was anything and it’s a minor gripe, when I came back to the room most of the lights were on and could have been for a long time as I was, generally, back in the early evening. Multiple that by 1300 rooms and potentially thats a very large extra on the electricity bill.

The security guy prohibited me from taking pictures with my camera, thinking it was too professional. So untrue. Didn’t understand that we could do about the same with our iPhone. I totally disagreed with his decision.

My stay at Fairmont Gold was seamless from start to finish. Check-in was smooth, and the welcome warm and genuine. The turndown service and thoughtful extra amenities that come with Gold really stood out. Breakfast offered a great variety overall, the experience was thoroughly enjoyable. I’ll definitely be back.

I missed my arrival cocktail, but that’s a minor detail also breakfast was chaotic in the lounge.

The only thing we didn’t like was that there wasn’t free WiFi. We’ve never been to a hotel that didn’t offer guests free WiFi so we were disappointed in that.

Excellent location exactly in the middle of all the attractions we were interested in visiting. Multiple trips to the GTA and this is our preferred place to book at.

Downside is being opposite Union Station which at times is very congested with over hurried Ubers,taxis,Lyft drivers whom I’m convinced are former Formula One or Indy Car drivers who still think York street is the racetrack. Makes me wonder if I need to start wearing my hockey gear while walking down the front of Front street!

Comfortable, luxurious, amazingly located. Loved the restaurants in the hotel. Check-in and out were fast and seamless. The gym and pool were super.

This hotel has a wonderful lobby and is perfectly situated for anyone arriving by or departing by train. The rooms are spacious, and the gym is excellent.

It was a great stay, quiet room, complimentary water in a glass bottle, wonderful shower and comfortable bed. The little details added up like the soap dish in the shape of a bathtub, the digital key and the physical key in wood.

I couldn't find the room but a cleaning lady helped me, she was very kind.

The room was lovely and the bed extra comfy. We also really enjoyed the location of the hotel and how close it was the public transportation (subway/GO).

I feel like the price you pay for the room, wifi should be free. Also, we can understand paying a fee to watch a newer movie on the TV... but there were older movies on the TV and we'd still have to pay over $20 to watch it. It's a bit ridiculous.

The location of the property is excellent--just across from the big train station.

Wifi was terrible. Walls are a bit thin when all the rooms are full. Initially, we did not have guests next door, but when we did it was loud.

I loved how incredible the staff were! Their execution was precise and friendly. I was celebrating my significant other's birthday and I requested a bottle of sparkling wine and they delivered perfectly! The hotel even wrote my girlfriend a lovely birthday card, brought some of their house sparkling wine on ice and some delicious macarons. Truly spectacular service all around! Also, the building is a historic landmark in Toronto, let alone Canada. Just walking around the hotel is a treat, reading the historic plaques about the building. It's a beautiful marvel of engineering.

Just a tad pricey in my opinion. I understand this hotel is not for every class of person so if you're a casual traveller and want to stay here, definitely save for the occasion and budget.

An extra cost of the fridge, no microwave

Excellent location, directly across from Union Station. I stayed for 6 nights. On the second night, there was noise from a party in the next room. Security intervened quickly but with limited effectiveness. The next morning, the front desk staff moved me to a quieter upgraded room without me even requesting it. This exceeded my expectations.

During the first days, someone frequently knocked on the door. Housekeeping came before 9 a.m., and staff came to restock the minibar. I quickly learned to keep the "Do Not Disturb" sign up whenever I was in the room, which solved the issue. In the first room, daily cleaning was excellent. In the second room, located in another wing of the hotel, the service was good but not as thorough.

In these hotels there is always a little bit of chaos in the lobby and could be a bit noisy

No insulation in the walls. You can hear the guests in the other rooms. The hotel needs to be soundproof.

Cot for my Grandson was very comfortable, nice room

I booked my parents’ stay for their 50th Anniversary. They were graciously granted a room upgrade and complimentary wine and a beautiful tray of snacks. We dined as a family for breakfast one of the mornings and it was stellar. Fresh food and caring thoughtful service.

Everything was marvelous. Truly 5 star service! Nothing was amiss.

Clean luxurious

It was a wonderful experience overall. The room was clean, the hotel was beautiful, the check in experience was so smooth and enjoyable. They were flexible as I arrived early and they were able to accommodate an early check in and even upgraded me to one of the newly renovated rooms.

No vending machines for late night snacking lol
