Generator Hostel, Venice

The host were just great, meeting all our expectations, we would like to give them 5 stars for making us very welcomed and going well beyond in accommodating us with their time and generosity, we could not have asked for better.
Anybody who wants to feel relaxed and welcomed , then this is your home to do so!

A fridge in the bedroom.

An amazing location! I loved the outdoor space right on the lagoon for drinking, talking and eating. We sat and watched the sunset there!
Easy access to everything you want in Venice, by the vaporetto. I got a 3 day pass and used it constantly.
The indoor shared spaces here are spacious and very cool, with a huge bar, beer on tap, snacks and breakfast available and not bad coffee! The staff are very organised and helpful and friendly.

There are not enough bathrooms for the number of guests in the room. My girls room had 10 beds, not all full, but there was usually a wait for the toilet and shower, which are combined. There are a few toilets and showers shared in the hallway, but they were also busy at times. One toilet and shower for 10 people is not enough. The beds are comfortable but they beds don’t have a curtain for privacy like some other hostels, and the light on each bed area is not very bright.

The room was ok, enough space, clean, with amenities. The employees at the reception and the bar were friendly.

It's a bit of a walk/boat ride from the main attractions. It was a bit more expensive than the airbnb we found near the center, which was more spacious, and had the same amenities.

I like it, cause it was a wee bit far away from The main Square, but it was so easy for the taxes to get to the property.

It was clean; people where friendly; the beds where comfortable; the location was outstanding!

The beds were comfy and very very clean but the bathroom not so much but that’s not on the staff rather the people staying

One of the staffs was bit rude.

Clean and cool decorations. No frills place, provided functioning and clean place to sleep and stay.

Was told that our room was not all-female despite the booking stating all-female room online. We had a male guest enter our room after they checked in. Staff was able to resolve which was great but then they told us there was no such thing as an all-female room (even though all the guests in our room were all female until that moment), which makes the online bookings option misleading if that is the case.

no in room facilities, just beds and one bathroom for 10 people. hard to access under bed lockers. floor constantly dusty, prices for food and drinks very expensive and we weren’t allowed outside food and drink,

Clean, tidy and other respectful people in our dorm. Beds were comfy and the windows were open for nice airflow.

Beautiful views of Venice from my dorm window! I found the bed comfortable too.

There is a nice common area and cafe/bar to hang out and it is reasonably social

The hostel requires taking a boat at least twice a day to get to the main island, which can get pricey.

Myself and others I met had issues with laundry - the dryer wasn’t working well. I recommend setting it to the longest cycle possible to make sure it actually dries your clothes.

Good location, nice staff, quiet room, comfortable bed, nice bathroom, good lighting in bathroom for doing makeup.

Not recommended for people over 5’5” or people with back issues as had to bend over to get around the room with beams on roof. Lighting in bedroom is poor for doing makeup. Rain very loud on roof of room.

We had to pay to rent a luggage room. I had never seen anything like that before. I arrived at the hostel at 10am and they said they would give me the bed at 2pm and I had to rent a locker for 6 hours.

We loved the common areas and bar.

We struggled to get a response to phone calls or messages from the property when we tried to edit our dates due to a flight change but it ended up working out.

besides the restroom, everything else was great. there’s 24-hour reception, you have a socket per bed, you have lockers below the bed to leave your stuff, the mattress was comfortable, and even though you have to take a boat to the main island of venice, it’s just a 10-minute boat-ride (definitely worth the price difference)

I do recommend you get the x-hour vaporetto pass depending on how long you’ll be staying because it’s a trip you’ll have to do at least twice per day and with just one more trip (maybe to murano or burano, or just along the canal), it will have paid off

I was also able to work remotely from the lobby since they have comfortable desks and sockets, which was great and not something I was expecting so many people to be doing

my only problem with this accommodation was the bathroom, but it was a big one. I have been to quite a few hostels so I’m used to to having to share a bathroom, but this one was pretty terrible. there was a single sink, two wc, and two showers all in a very little space that couldn’t even fit 3 people comfortably (wc and showers aside). and all of it was shared between 3 rooms of 16 people each (there was another one for men, but still)

another problem was that the shower only had a translucent glass, so there was little privacy, and the bathroom was flooded by night time

if the bathroom were different (a bit bigger, with more sinks, and an opaque shower glass), this would’ve been the perfect budget accommodation

The location is top-notch and the prices (breakfast, cafe, etc) were also generous. It was cozy and very welcome!

Classic hostel experience: going to sleep and loud people coming in the dorm late at night. But that‘s nothing the hostel itself can be accounted for.

Very nice staff, clean and fresh rooms, stunning location. Really cozy hall and common area. Bed was clean with working wifi, light and socket. Locker was available and working given you had your padlock as advised. Overall very good experience. And would be happy to come back. :)

Bathrooms were clean but could use renovation and were quite small given the amount of people staying, so you had to wait at times. Breakfast was mid-to little poor.

Checkin staff are friendly, main room facilities are nice and cozy, lots of games, a big projector screen that showed Serie A matches, decently-priced bar, and picturesque location on the Giudecca waterfront with a view of the main island across the water. Beds are comfy.

Bathrooms are tiny and not particularly clean, the floor was always wet, and was also out of hand soap the whole time. Towels are not provided either: they charge 5 euro for a tiny hand towel, which is a bit excessive. Would also be nice if they provided shower gel and shampoo for the showers. Hallway was not super well ventilated and occasionally a little stinky. No curtains on the bunk beds so no privacy.
