Generator Hostel, Venice

The place was very nice with lots of common areas and privacy within your bunk.

The bathrooms were small for so many people and I woke up with multiple big bites all over my body. You also have to take the ferry to get to the hostel

Staff and amazing vibes

Check out time should be atleast 11 am instead of 10 am

it is my 2nd stay here. we're talking here about 11 other persons, many without common sense, slamming doors, speaking too loud, etc. of course not the hostel's fault.... a lot of space downstairs, where you can socialize with other backpackers...

I find 30 euros a night a little expensive, 20 would be more adequate. they don't provide towel or soap beware to take flip flops, to go to shower, and to bathrooms. it was a bit wired for men also, to show them the card I made payment... and if I have a sponsor !?!

Great location

Extremely slow internet. Single digit upload and download throughout the entire building even less busy time. I couldn't work....

The restaurant downstairs. The staffs are helpful. Position near water bus stop. Position near San Marco. View from the window is fantastic

The bunk bed is very close to each other. The dormitory for 10 people, but the room was small. So it's very cramp. Towel is not included, must pay 5 euro separately. Elevator only upto 2nd floor. Female dormitory is in 3rs floor. I must drag my luggage up the stairs.

Modern and weel kept

Poor space use, beds were too close one to eachother.

The staff are very friendly

People in the room were noisy and talked to each others loudly even if others are still sleeping. I was planning to add late check out, but cancelled because of this. The hostel should be more strict on the rules

It was very nice place to stay,staff very friendly,it was quite close to St Marks squere.

Although not on the main Venice island, the location of the hostel is excellent since it is 2 mins away from the boat stand. So the connectivity is great to get around anywhere. There are some restaurants right next door and hostel itself has a great cafe and bar. The staff was extremely helpful and the reception is 24hours so getting in and out is easy. I really enjoyed the daily happy hour!

Extremely helpful staff

Really well kept place, clean, and with a very helpful and nice staff. Optimal location, close to the vaporetto stop, good connection between P.le Roma and/or San Marco. Shops and restaurants within a walking distance. Very classy bar/cafe at the ground floor.

5€ for a towel is a bit too much, especially if you stay for 2-3 nights. The dorm at which I was staying had very little space between other beds and walls. It can get quite difficult to walk around when the room is fully booked ;)

Great location, very well kept hostel and friendly staff.

Bathrooms could have more privacy, more space for you to place your clothes and change without risking getting your belongings wet.

The location was ok, the lounge area was bjg and comfortable.

There was a specific unpleasent smell in the bedroom.

Well, it's a nice, clean, comfortable place, a real value for the money.

Nothing really, maybe the toilets were a bit small for the number of people in the floor, but not a big deal.

It was very neat and clean

They didn't provide towel and soap, I had to buy it. When anybody books the hotel, usually soap and towel are there, we don't buy it separately.

The staff are really friendly. Although it is not on the main island, its location is fair well. The 2 islands are connected by ferry, usually with interval of 15 minutes.

Most reading lights in my room are broken. It isn't enjoyable because I live in the down position of a bunk bed. The hostel needs to put more effort into the maintenance of its facilities.

At times, the staff I guess was not very helpful. Otherwise they were supportive

Clean Toilets, Excellent view, Thick Blankets

The hostel was fine- everything seemed clean and tidy. Staff is helpfull. Overall, I liked the vibe of the place- simple and cozy.

I think the only issue was the price of boat from the centre to hostel- it was quite too high. Beside that everything was really good.

Very nice hostel, perfect location and very friendly staff.

Way to hot in the rooms at night. 20 odd people in a small area with a heater on was not pleasant.

Everything is clean, the private bathroom is good, the blanket is warm enough

The room was adequate, the atmosphere and cosiness of the lounge, the staff were exceptionally informative and friendly.

The temperature of the room and the lounge was a tad excessive - it was very, very warm. I'm sure that would please most people but it was too much for me!

The space between the beds in the dorm was a bit narrow and made it a bit awkward trying to access lockers and get into bags and get past other people to/from beds

Lovely staff and wonderful hang out space on the ground floor with very helpful guidance on seeing the city well from staff. Having a bar is great.

Having no kitchen and being allowed to bring outside food in increased the price of staying here a bit. Also the location is absolutely beautiful but does require a water taxi to get to which the rest of venice doesn't. This does mean you must pay for the fairly expensive single trips to get there and to the rest of venice each day (9.50 euros when I was here for a single trip) or get a 3 day or week pass etc. (there are some good deals for youth on these i'd encourage exploring if you're under 25!). Just something to be aware of!
