Hotel Le Soleil, Vancouver

567 Hornby St, Vancouver, BC V6C 2E8, Canada (show on map)

Hotel Le Soleil, located in the heart of downtown Vancouver, is a boutique gem that has been offering guests a slice of Parisian elegance since 1999. The hotel’s design philosophy draws direct inspiration from legendary establishments like The Savoy in London and Le Crillon in Paris. This focus on “old-world” charm is reflected in its interiors, which are famously adorned with rich crimson and gold accents, crystal chandeliers, and sophisticated furnishings.

The property is unique for being an all-suite hotel, featuring 113 beautifully appointed rooms where the bedroom and lounge areas are kept separate. This layout provides an extra sense of privacy and comfort that feels more like an upscale residence than a traditional hotel room. A standout feature is the on-site Alouette Bistro, a refined French eatery that blends classic bistro techniques with fresh West Coast ingredients, led by Executive Chef Albert Tran.

Situated on Hornby Street, the hotel is perfectly placed for city explorers. You are just a block away from the Burrard Skytrain Station, making it incredibly easy to navigate the city. Major local attractions are all within walking distance, including the high-end shops of the Pacific Centre, the historic Vancouver Art Gallery, and the scenic waterfront at Canada Place.

For those looking to stay active, the hotel partners with the nearby YWCA Health + Fitness Centre, providing guests with complimentary access to a massive 30,000-square-foot facility complete with an indoor lap pool and steam room. It remains a popular, tranquil sanctuary for travelers wanting a touch of European flair in the center of bustling Vancouver.

Expert reviews

New York Times review:

“The Hotel Le Soleil in the financial district is a 119-room boutique hotel with a South Asian feel. Every room is a suite with its own sitting area. The hotel also has an excellent contemporary Indian restaurant, Copper Chimney.”

A beautiful gem in walking distance to a lot!

Awesome property with great division between the sleeping areas for families. Very walkable location and easy access to the port. Great to have a little coffee station in the room. The turndown service with wine and macarons was an absolute delight! Definitely add the breakfast to your stay, delicious restaurant downstairs. Wish we had checked it out for happy hour. 1000% will be coming back!

Loved every bit of our stay!

Great one night stay.

Great location, easy to find and just a 6 minute walk from the Canada Line. Very impressive atrium! Helpful, friendly staff. Our room, Premier King Suite, in a corner location was a good size and very clean. Daughter delighted to find complimentary macarons in the room. Our room rate included breakfast at L'alouette adjacent to the lobby - plenty of choices but the portions were huge.

Felt we were stung with anticipated 'World Cup' price hikes when we booked (and payment was taken immediately due to the event - months in advance) as the rate looked to have dropped somewhat by the time of our stay. Slightly annoying, but we'd still have opted for the Hotel over others.

I would return in an instant.

Our one-night stay in an executive king suite at the Hotel le Soleil was wonderful. The decor was inspiring, and the bed extremely comfortable; our suite had been cleaned to an impeccable standard, and the juice bottles and macarons tastefully presented for our use added a beautiful welcome touch. There was even a personalized note on the little table, wishing my husband a speedy recovery from his surgery. I loved the European ambience, and the fact that the room was lamplit when we walked in, making things beautifully cozy. And when we came back from our evening walk around Coal Harbour and the West End, we found our bed turned down and chocolates on the pillows, as a reminder that Le Soleil staff continue to be attentive through the evening.

I would come back in an instant, next time I venture away from sleepy Victoria to the big city. Thank you, Hotel Le Soleil, for giving us a memorable stay in Vancouver! 🌞

There was nothing I didn't like, but I would suggest to others who, like me, tend to rely on photos more than property details, to read the fine print. Yes, there is a sizeable parking fee (to be expected in downtown Vancouver) and, no, not all king suites contain bathtubs.

Unique character, fantastic service, and delightful facilities!

The decor is absolutely stunning. It’s like walking into a French astronomy tower from a pre-revolution era fantasy. The staff are friendly and helpful, the rooms are clean, and the restaurant, Alouette, is a delightful and well-valued dining experience. The service at the restaurant was impeccable and highly attentive, I would recommend the hotel for the dining experience alone!

Having to pay extra for parking was a bit of a bummer, considering the rooms are already pricey. I feel that parking should be included with the room.

Location was great for access to the Skytrain to the airport.

Decor was certainly French & very pleasant. Restaurant served a very good breakfast

Separate hot & cold water taps in bathroom was a bit annoying. Took some practice to get temperature right.

Beautiful property, phenomenal staff, world-class bistro.

Beautiful property with exceptionally switched-on staff. The French Bistro (food outlet on the main floor) offered fabulous meals, fair prices and inspired decor. Even if I was not staying at the hotel, I would consider the bistro a restaurant of choice in the downtown core of Vancouver. All the staff take ownership of this property and are super-responsive to suggestions for improvement. I wonder if the staff are shareholders or owners?

Getting access to the parking isn’t ideal (at this time). Guests have to find difficult-to-get street parking, get fully checked-in, then get access to the hotel’s underground parking. I suggested a way to improve their procedure in an online comment and their Ops Manager called me the next day for additional feedback. I will absolutely return to this property and I suspect that this minor inconvenience will have been long-since solved on my next trip!

Great stay, great location, helpful and accommodating staff, make an effort with special occasions

We booked this as last minute accommodation after our first place cancelled that day. The staff were very helpful and even put together a small present for our two year old’s birthday that day. Location was great and we bought breakfast at Alouette too, which was fantastic - really tasty.
