Fairmont Royal York Hotel, Toronto

It is historic and grand and close to everything we needed.

Because it is an older property the rooms were generic and nothing fancy-ish about it (except for the coffee machine ofcourse )

Such a great location downtown to go to everything you need and all the sights etc. Would recommend for a short stay.

Perfect location to get around and see the sights.

The staff were super friendly and the room was very comfortable.

I expected much better swimming pool and sauna facilities from a 5-star hotel. The pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna were all super small. There was a separate steam room and sauna for men and women. As a result, couples can’t enjoy these facilities together.

Fairmont Royal York – A Historic Stay with a Prime Location I recently stayed at the Fairmont Royal York, drawn by its storied past and central location. While the hotel exudes historical charm, my experience was a mix of expectations met and missed. Room & View: Opting for a more economical room, I wasn’t anticipating luxury, and the accommodations were indeed modest. However, the highlight was the view—a stunning glimpse of the CN Tower that added a special touch to my stay. Staff & Service: Interactions with the staff were generally polite, though I wouldn’t describe them as particularly warm or welcoming. An exception was Matt at the concierge desk, who went above and beyond to ensure the flowers I ordered were perfectly arranged in my room upon arrival. His attention to detail truly enhanced my experience. Overall Impression: The Fairmont Royal York offers a convenient base for exploring Toronto, especially given its proximity to Union Station and other attractions. While the hotel maintains its historic allure, some aspects, like room amenities and general service, felt average for a property of its reputation. 

Darkness of the rooms, need more lighting

I know the pheromone very well, and it was as it always has been. Clean, courteous, and luxurious.

There was nothing I did not like. Everything was exactly as expected at this level of hospitality.

Location is wonderful. Concierge and bar staff were so warm and helpful. Gym, studio and interactive fitness mirror was amazing

Bedroom was a little dark and WiFi was complex to set up - maybe instructions in the room would be helpful

Great location and was beautiful

You had to pay for water in your room which I think is pretty poor when you are paying these prices, only the first 2 small bottles are free. The stairs at the front door are a challenge especially when at times there is no one to help you lift your heavy bags

The gym was amazing . Extensive equipment . Best hotel gym I’ve seen . Tea selection and having a hot water kettle was fantastic . Nice to have the Keurig machine . Excellent location .

the vip window to check in and pillows i didn't sleep well, a lot of banging doors too :( and $70 valet parking too expensive for local guest, plus keep in mind plus tipping. Everyone must tip!

Beautiful hotel, great service and excellent location. The room was dated but very large and didn’t cost much for the upgrade. I just think they should have fluffier, more cozy duvet covers for the bed. But still amazing. Had a great time.

Nice lobby. I forgot my charger and the staff downstairs charged my phone. Nice toiletries.

The room was a little dated. A printed room service menu would have been preferred. Requesting toothpaste took forever and there was no floss.

The hotel took customer service to the next level.

Walls were quite thin could hear neighbors kids yellin all morning. Charging for wifi in such a nice hotel seems odd. I can get free wifi at a highway hotel.

Found the temperature hard to regulate. Restaurant was expensive for breakfast. No free WiFi, seems unreasonable considering technology needs these days and offered free at other less expensive hotels.

Beside from the restaurant mistake. It was amazing

The extra 75 dollars for parking when you are already paying 300 for one night. Coffee machine sucked and room was extremely dry.

Close to our event venue. Close to food and shopping options. Close to public transport.

It’s very “maze like” and instructions on how to get around are not very clear.

The location was amazing! Breakfast was tasted excellent. Loved having two bathrooms in our room and there was lots of space.

Mini bar prices are too high. Would like another option in hotel to purchase snacks. Would love to have had a fridge for personal snacks. Getting wi-fi was challenging. The hotel can make that much easier for guests. Most places just provide you with a password. Breakfast was pricey.

We had the most wonderful experience thanks to your incredible staff. My daughter was celebrating her 10th birthday; cake with a handwritten card were delivered to our room and she was given a stuffed lion that sits proudly on her bed. What dreams are made of!

Bathroom had slightly dirty walls and was in somewhat disrepair.

Good view of Union station and lake, beautiful lobby, pool was lovely especially the little wading area for kids, access to Union station underground, food and atmosphere was good at the 1st level restaurant.

Bathroom was dated and looked grotty.

Location was awesome, we stayed over to attend a Leafs game at Scotia Bank Place. 10 minute walk away. Paul at Valet parking was exceptionally helpful .

The washroom is outdated and small, water leaked down shower curtain on to floor because of the outward shape of the curtain track

Gorgeous hotel, great location, lovely staff

- overly complicated procedures with things as simple as wifi and chromecast - rooms are small and beds are poor quality for such an expense - unbelievable that wifi is not included unless you join a program - biggest issues were value for what you get, although what you get is fine

We where desire a very noisy room we had to listen to all night

Gorgeous pool area. I thought we would just be checking our bags with the desk but they allowed us to have our room early. Helpful and friendly staff throughout the stay. Convenient location across from Union Station.

At almost $500 for a very basic room, this was expensive even by Toronto standards.

Room was clean and well maintained.

Lobby Bar service was slow.

Covient for the train station.

Cramped room No free WiFi

Staff were excellent as well as location.

The bathroom was in need of updating, I was disappointed especially after recently staying at The Anantara Budapest.

Great location, very clean spacious accommodation

Very disappointed in the service at Reign restaurant. This was Birthday celebration waiter John was rude and dismissive which impacted the last night of an otherwise excellent stay. Will definitely stay at Royal York in future but would not go to Reign or recommend to anyone.

they never replaced the complementary water after the first day, the breakfast wait at the restaurant was ridiculous (we just ordered a muffin and a croissant), lobby area very dark

Such a luxury tone set from the moment we checked in. The staff were so professional, friendly and always willing to go above and beyond to help. The facilities are kept to such a high standard and are so well looked after. The room we had (junior suite) was such a beautiful design and the bed was simply amazing.

We were disappointed that both nights we couldn’t get a table in the lobby bar for a drink.

I liked the classic decorations and designs. It’s not like every Hotel that you go, it’s kind of historical.

It’s understandable that the building is old but I think they need to do more renovations. The Hotel was really busy and we didn’t have hot water we called reception they told us we have to leave the water go for 5-10 min to get hot water. They quickly sent someone up, he left the water go for 10 min and we had hot water.

I liked the location, the check in process, the check out process, the promptness of the staff to assist when asked for something, the size of the bathtub, the gym and pool

The lack of fridge space because the one in the room is full of hotel offered items. The room is very small and the bathroom light switch is outside of the bathroom. Wifi was paid, not included with your stay. The water in the bathroom takes 5-10 minutes to heat for a shower and even then, does not get truly hot. There was no shampoo or conditioner in the bottles and we had to call down for some. We also did not have facial tissue in the room, just toilet paper. The information book about the hotel was tucked in a drawer and was not found until the day we were leaving. It should be out in the open. The safe did not have enough battery power to function.

Nice and quiet , we liked the gel and shampoo dispensers in the shower. Of course the location is great for train and local scene.

We saw no evidence of Recycling. Maybe those containers were for recycling but they were the wrong colour if that’s what they were. Soap bars should be replaced with gel.
