Hotel Amadeus, Seville

Farnesio, 6, Old Town, 41004 Seville, Spain. (show on map)

Hotel Amadeus in Seville is a charming, family-run boutique hotel set within an 18th-century manor house in the historic Santa Cruz neighbourhood. True to its name, the hotel is inspired by classical music, featuring an atmosphere where Mozart’s influence is felt throughout the property. The building was restored by the owner’s son, an architect who cleverly incorporated musical elements into the design, including soundproofed rooms and communal spaces adorned with pianos, harps, and various stringed instruments.

What makes this hotel truly unique is its commitment to musical expression; guests can even utilize a dedicated soundproof rehearsal room. The decor balances this artistic theme with traditional Andalusian architecture, showcasing authentic courtyards, dark mahogany furnishings, and intricate local tiling. It offers an intimate, melodic retreat that feels worlds away from the busy streets outside.

The hotel’s rooftop terrace is a standout feature, providing a peaceful sanctuary with a saltwater plunge pool and a Jacuzzi. From here, guests can enjoy stunning, near-panoramic views of the city’s skyline, including the iconic Giralda bell tower and the Cathedral. It is a perfect spot for breakfast or a quiet drink as the sun sets over the historic old town.

Its location is ideal for sightseers, sitting just a short walk from Seville’s most famous landmarks, such as the Royal Alcázar and the Seville Cathedral. Tucked into the narrow, winding alleys of the Jewish Quarter, it serves as a serene home base for exploring the vibrant culture, tapas bars, and history of one of Spain’s most beautiful cities.

Expert reviews

Lonely Planet review:

“A soothing oasis of calm in the heart of the old judería, this delightful hotel charms with its ceramic-tiled lobby, period furniture and collection of musical instruments. Rooms, named after composers, are equally stylish, and there’s a small rooftop terrace offering views over to the Giralda.”

Featured as Lonely Planet’s Top Choice in Seville.

Fodors review:

“With regular classical concerts, a music room off the central patio, and instruments for guests to use, including pianos in some of the soundproofed rooms, this 18th-century manor house is ideal for touring professional musicians and music fans in general.”

Featured as Fodor’s Choice in Seville.

Telegraph review:

“This friendly, family-owned hotel is hidden down a tiny alley in Barrio Santa Cruz, filled with musical instruments and memorabilia – from electric violins to a 16th-century harp – plus sound-proofed piano rooms. There’s a delightful roof terrace with breakfast room, bar and hot tub-with-a-view.”

Great location. minor details could have improved comfort level

Location was good. Staff were helpful and friendly

Room was very small, just fitted in a double bed. bedside tables were unstable.
Pool bar not staffed a lot of the time.
Cold in dining room due to air conditioning settings

Excellent location, fiendly staff

The hotel location was very good. Close to main attractions but not so close to be noisy. The staff was very friendly and helpfull at all times. We even get an upgrade for our room.

There is a couple of things for improvement. altough the breakfast is ok, a buffet type will be better considering the price. Also, when it is mention that there is a Jacuzzi, the size only fits max two people. So availability is arguable.

Wonderful stay in music themed hotel with excellent roof top area!

Hotel Amadeus was in an excellent location and very nicely appointed. There were numerous spaces for guests to relax and the rooftop seating area, pool, hot tub, and bar were amazing. We really loved being able to hang out and relax in the sun at the end of our day. We also really appreciated that the pool and hot tub were nice and warm. We loved the music theme and the classical music that was played throughout the building. Our room was small, but had everything we needed. We would highly recommend this hotel.

Our room was quite small and the view into the interior courtyard wasn't great. However, the room was quiet because it didn't overlook the street.

A great place to stay in Seville

We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Amadeus. The location is perfect, in the heart of the old city but we found it to be very quiet. Can walk to all main attractions and there are many restaurants on the doorstep - Cafe Moin is a few minutes walk for very good coffee. We also walked to the train station one day which took around 30 minutes. Our room was big (just a regular double), and was very comfortable. We slept incredibly well during our stay. We loved the rooftop hot tub and small pool and were able to use both in February as it was so hot in Seville. The rooftop area in general is so nice, it was fairly quiet whilst we were there so at times, it was only us using the facilities. Great to see across the city too and the sunset is great from the bar. Would love to come back!

Only something minor but it would have been nice for the tea/coffee to be replaced (or at least have enough for each stay in the room). We had to go down to ask each morning for more coffee sachets. An easy fix and for the price point, I’d expect that there was enough coffee/tea for a few nights provided.

Perfect location, beautiful room and a very calm and peaceful haven in the heart of a bustling city.

I booked a suite for my wife and I for one week. We were looking for somewhere as a base in Seville where we could travel out from and, as with all the travelling we do, we wanted a small boutique hotel with a more personal touch.
The room was excellent. Large, air conditioned, with a separate bedroom, lounge and bathroom. The lounge had a large, raised jacuzzi bath just off of it which my wife really enjoyed after a long day walking. The room was at the top of the hotel, very quiet and comfortably furnished. Plenty of room to leave two very large suitcases open all week without getting in our way (in the lounge)
The hotel is what I would describe as an authentic boutique hotel, very traditionally and tastefully decorated and furnished throughout (The theme naturally being music, and there were numerous musical instruments around the communal rooms ranging from pianos, harps, strings and woodwind plus musical scores galore for the musically inclined). It is ideally located minutes walking from the busy central cathedral, restaurants and bars but far enough away from the crowds to be peaceful. A perfect location in my view.
Breakfast was a little disappointing. Whilst the breakfast is very good and fresh, served to your table, it is not a buffet style. It is continental every day. There is no choice other than tea/coffee. The breakfast mainly consisted of a basket containing fresh croissants and bread, jams/preserves, a small plate each with two slices of cheese and a cold meat (ham), a small yogurt, a square of cake, some mornings a little scrambled egg, two dishes of fruit (one always melon and the other could be pineapple, strawberries or kiwi fruit). A glass of fresh orange juice, coffee or tea. It must be said though this was always fresh and it did grow on my wife and I as the week wore on.

There was very little not to like about Hotel Amadeus. I was looking for a boutique hotel in Seville and that is exactly what we got. Yes, there are a few criticisms (like the breakfast and the fact there are no soap, shampoo and conditioner dispensers in the shower like many hotels) but on balance, these are really trivial compared to the overall high standard of the hotel, pleasant staff and the location which were all excellent. Those small criticisms would not be enough to prevent me returning as the hotel experience was extremely good.

A charming musical experience with all mod cons

A charming musical ambiance Comfortable rooms. Great breakfast made to order. A lovely roof bar and great staff. Situated right in the old town so everything was walkable

Access a bit tricky whether by taxi or hire car. Not their fault but needs noting

Lovely friendly staff in a fantastic location. Great breakfast - mix of fruit yoghurt and bread/croissants brought

Really lovely traditional small hotel - lovely room and breakfast. Water pressure in the rainfall shower was brilliant and the room was spotless with a really comfortable bed. I play clarinet so loved all the musical instruments around the hotel. Great location near the cathedral and Giralda tower.

Great roof top views with understated pool and jacuzzi

The roof top and its views . A mojito in the jacuzzi with a view of the cathedral was not what I expected in Seville, but amazing without being corny.

Our first room was noisy from the street but they very kindly changed rooms for us.

Super relaxing in a great location.

Beautifully decorated. Lovely breakfast served by helpful staff. Amazing views of the Geraldo on a multi layered roof terrace. Very comfortable bed and room.

Nothing really. If I’m being very picky I would have mixed up the classical background music a bit more.

A fantastic place to stay to enjoy a wonderful visit in Seville.

this hotel is absolutely charming! The decor is delightful, our room was spacious, clean and attractive. The staff was warm and the breakfast delicious. I loved the public spaces including the rooftop deck - a perfect place for an evening drink. I would absolutely stay here again.

The bed was harder than we would like. It wouldn't stop me from staying there, but I thought it worth mentioning in case it's important to someone else.

Overall good stay to enjoy the best of Seville, given the location in the old town.

Fantastic location, and the open areas were tastefully decorated. The breakfast was amazing too

The suite we booked turned out to be quite a small room, and didn’t have the best layout. It felt quite cramped for 2 adults and a 15 year old.

Very good location and a lovely quaint hotel.

Very good location with easy access to all historic landmark. The room is clean and breakfast is delicious. The late shift staff at reception with curly hair and glasses was extremely helpful and gave us very good recommendations for restaurants.

The bathroom is small and the shower has weak water pressure. Beside, it’s inconvenient that there’s no place to put the toiletries inside the shower.

Clhsrming stay in the heart of Seville

Charming hotel in the heart of the historic centre of Seville and very close to all major sights, bars and restaurants. Friendly & helpful staff. Our room had a large wardrobe and hangers and a good sized bathroom. Large double bed with no roll together. and good quality sheets. Liked having use of a fridge too. Excellent shower with plenty of hot water. Good powerful hairdryer. Soft towels changed daily. Complementary use of robes and slippers was a nice touch. Public areas clean & comfortable.

I found the pillows to be a little uncomfortable for my liking but still slept very well overall. A little strange to have no toilet roll holder and presumably down to the layout although one could be added to the front of the sink unit. Complementary tea and coffee not always replenished by house keeping but reception home supplies so not an issue. Note the hotel is located just off a narrow street so not easy for taxis to stop especially on pick up.
