The Arctic Club Hotel, Seattle
Expert reviews
“This meticulously kept hotel just steps from historic Pioneer Square exudes charm and character. The handsome nine-story Beaux-Arts building, famous for the terracotta walrus heads that line its third floor, was originally commissioned in 1916 as an HQ for The Arctic Club.”
Featured as Fodor’s Choice in Seattle.
“Back in 1917 rooms were roomy and forthright, with beamed ceilings, wood baseboards and crown moldings, and beds were big and solid and covered with woolen blankets. That’s how it is today, too, only with updated amenities of all kinds and furniture that evokes the Art Deco era when the club was in its heyday.”
Featured as Frommer’s Exceptional Choice in Seattle.

Other than the noise and garbage site for a view it was a great place. Workers were very friendly and helpful.
It was very loud late at night around 1am there was lots of booms going off or something happening outside that echo into the hotel. It made it hard to sleep. Also the dump site or homeless camp not sure what it is out our bedroom window was not nice to see.

The facility is a very nice one and it is close to public transport.
Breakfast is excellent. The view from the room was the worst. I stayed in a room with a street view on a former trip which was better. The food service for meals other than the breakfast could be a lot better, I did not like that a 20% tip was included when the waitress did not deserve it. The hotel is wonderful otherwise and I really enjoyed my stay.
Food service outside of breakfast was not great. When it’s cold and wet outside and I don’t want to walk around with a whole bunch of street people, food service in the facility is a plus. I’ve visited the hotel twice and both times I would say that food service was a weak point.

We got the king suite and the jet tub was PHENOMENAL for two very tall people. Parking options are to be desired, but we found a spot across the street that was free for the evening after 8pm. Breakfast was excellent and the building has a really cool history. Staff were totally awesome.

Classic Era hotel with great bar and staff.
The Arctic Club Hotel is a classic era hotel located perfectly in the heart of Seattle. The lobby, reception, bar and common areas will transport you to another time. The staff are amazing, friendly and hospitable. The Polar Bar is a wonderful area to have evening meals and drinks or relax after a busy day touring. The rooms are classicly decorated and very comfortable. Beds, linens and pillows are very nice. Bathrooms are large and comfortable. The breakfast in the Juno room is beyond good. This hotel is located in the perfect location if you use public transportation during your stay. The light rail and virtually every bus line connects directly in front of the hotel. You will not need to rent a car if you stay here. Ferries to other areas are walking distance away as is Pike Place Market and Pioneer Square. If you are seeking a classic experience in a piece of Seattle history, I can't imagine you can do better than this hotel. Highly recommended.
The area near this hotel and most of Pioneer Square is the center of Seattle's homeless population. Also sirens are heard frequently throughout the day and night. These might be issues for those who are not used to this.

Beautiful hotel with ballroom and lobby, as well as upscale cocktail lounge. Incredible staff. Definitely a fun spot for an upscale staycation or romantic getaway. View was phenomenal from our Jacuzzi suite. Haunted history gave the hotel a Steven King vibe which I loved. Even got stuck on the 5th floor around 3 am like legend says!
Room was in need of repairs and had damage for what the price was. Some dated features like a speaker system that did not connect to Bluetooth and still played CDs as space filler.

Better than expected
Sharon at the front desk. She went out of her way to help get my phone back by calling it until someone answered. Breakfast was a bit better than the average free hotel breakfast too.

Great room and experience

Good downtown hotel.
Location was outstanding. 10 minute walk to the waterfront and most everything downtown. The hotel architecture was really unique, and the rooms were nice and spacious even for 3-4 people. They offer valet parking for about $55 which worked great for dowtown Seattle overnight.
The sink was half clogged and very slow to drain. The shower curtain doesn't reach the floor so a lot of water leaks out of the shower. The bathroom door handle fell off as well.

Good Solid Bet in Seattle
The breakfast was quite adequate. The hotel room was large, comfortable, and very clean. The staff was responsive. The location is within walking distance of Harborview Medical Center.

Food was great!

Great historic hotel
The old world charm, comfy beds and exceptional staff.
It took an hour and a half to get our car from valet parking. It was chaotic and truly a mess. We were standing outside waiting all that time. For a valet only hotel you would believe their system for car retrieval would be a well oiled machine.

polar lounge food was disappointing
17 December 2024
overall good but hotel is on a hill
the room was beautiful and the breakfast buffet was wonderfully set with a variety choice.
I didn't like the location of the hotel. we came in late at night and felt like our only option was to pay for valet. The second thing I noticed was the bedroom pillows were uncomfortable. they were too thick! Last thing, I felt I was getting judged by how I looked- but not by the staff but by other guests. it made me feel uncomfortable. I was dressed but i felt i was being judged by my appearance

Great comfortable and clean place to stay when in town for an event at Lumen field.
Breakfast was great. Location and accommodations prior to the Greenbay vs Seahawks game was wonderful. Would stay there again without hesitation.
The darkness - it was kind of a dark hotel in general.

Beautiful property, wonderful staff and an amazing breakfast!
Nothing!

Historic hotel with lots of charm
Solid breakfast buffet, and GF options, too. Loved the towel teddy bear on the bed. Appreciated the makeup mirror. Great idea to have a permanent rug in the bathroom in addition to the bath mat; that way, we can walk in the bathroom on a dry rug, rather than either a wet bath mat or cold tile. BLESS YOU for including a kettle in the coffee nook. On behalf of tea drinkers everywhere, we thank you profusely. And your cups don't smell & taste of coffee. Bonus! We had dinner by the fire in lobby and it was cozy. The waiter was funny and attentive.
Only one cup was in the room so we had to run downstairs and ask for a second mug. The room could also have used a little more dusting, but otherwise, was fine.

Magical
Absolutely magical hotel, like entering another era. Great service, very clean, location is a short walk to many things and right on the bus lines.
Breakfast was a little uninspiring, but otherwise loved it.

Expesiive but large rooms and great staff
Clean large rooms and a great atmosphere. Very helpful staff.
In room water was $8 a bottle In room snacks were overpriced by far. A standard chocolate bar was $12.00 Adequate breakfast but limited to the usual, nothing special.

Exceptional
Hotel staff were friendly, beds were very comfortable, awesome history, beautiful bar and dome room. Felt like we were stepping back in time. Great breakfast bar. It was quiet inside (didn't hear guests)
Nothing really. The only negative was hearing so many sirens, but it's downtown Seattle so it's to be expected

All good except slow valet
Great location
Valet parking took 35 minutes to retrieve my car at a cost of $65.

Ideal central location in an atypically characterful period building, wonderfully restored and comfortable.
Unique. Characterful. Family owned. Great location. Not a chain!

Sumptuous way to pre game
Beautiful lobby spacious room. When we had a thermostat malfunction a staff member immediately came to our room and replaced it immediately.
The cost!

Great experience with good value!
The decor is interesting! It feels like u walked down a time tunnel but with electricity n hot running water. The beds are comfortable, shower n bathroom is spacious. The breakfast is satisfactory as well.
Having a microwave will be better for foot heat up (instead of having a sound system in the room)

Pleasant
we left the Arctic Club with mixed impressions. On the positive side we experienced very friendly staff, had a nicely decorated and well-equipped room and were in a good location within walking distance of most major sites. The fact that the surrounding streets are full of homeless people is not to blame on the hotel. We also liked the hotel bar which serves some nice food too. It is the only place in the hotel where you can get some food as the hotel's Juno restaurant is not operating any more. Breakfast is now served in what used to be the restaurant but the location feels exactly like what it is: an abandoned restaurant.
This is a pity as breakfast is quite decent (albeit with limited choice) with even some excellent fruit. Another aspect we found inappropriate for a 4 star hotel is that they don't make up rooms every day. We stayed four nights and our room was effectively only made up once. Finally, a further negative note was that on one day of our stay they just closed the bar without giving any advance notice. The reason was they apparently needed the staff for a wedding event. We had planned to spend the evening on site and were thus left without any access to food or drink. No attempts whatsoever were made by staff to find a solution for us. That was particularly disappointing as we had been to the bar on the two previous days, so it would not have been rocket science to give us a heads up.

Fabulous
The atmosphere was very warm and the staff were very welcoming and friendly.

Old school men’s club atmosphere and style updated to a comfortable and luxurious experience by the attentive and knowle
Probably the nicest room we’ve stayed in at this price. Staff were all so very friendly and helpful. I’m sure we had an upgrade though they didn’t mention it. The bar is amazing and the two women serving were excellent bartenders, definitely the best martini (stirred!) I’ve had in a hotel bar! Breakfast was a delightful, fully satisfying experience.
It was hard to leave!

Artic pleasure
The hotel stays true to it's published goals and is extremely clean. The bar and the food provided are of a high standard as is the included breakfast
As the hotel is closed to the court building, a number of vagrants occupy the area

Fab stay loved the hotel loved the area and its history
Stunning building keeping all its original features lovely beautiful big room with very comfortable beds and pillows
Would be great to have someone lift the cases up and down the entrance steps, otherwise nothing

Nice place to stay in a great location
It was central location and everything was closed by.
They couldn’t find my reservation and then put me in a room with one bed. I wanted 2 bed. Went back to them and they gave a roll away bed. I finally found my reservation and they made it right. Why couldn’t they found it. The front desk did made the mistake. They didn’t say what they did wrong but after 45 minutes later I got the right room

Very good
Old style classy hotel with a sensational bar. Good location. Breakfast area was nice.
Not really a dedicated valet area for check in and check out. Front entrance is on steep hill where taxi justs pulls up at kerbside. 8 steps up from street to hotel entry. We had to search for a valet on arrival and on departure no valet were available on a Saturday. We had to carry our own bags down the stairs to taxi. Not ideal for older guests.

It was a men club 100 years ago. It was redone but the charm of the place was great
There nothing I didn’t like

Close to a bit of a homeless gathering

Cool hotel- pun intended :)
Loved the theme of the hotel. We arrived in Seattle early in the morning and were able to drop off our luggage at the hotel and park (there is concierge parking, but note that it is NOT included if you book through booking.com-- we found a cheaper option around the corner after learning this). Conveniently located within walking distance of Pike Place market and other downtown sights. We enjoyed a few drinks at the hotel bar. Breakfast was a buffet in the connected restaurant and was quite good.
Parking is NOT included if you book through booking.com
