Stazzo Lu Ciaccaru, Costa Smeralda
Stazzo Lu Ciaccaru is a charming, family-run resort nestled in the heart of the Gallura countryside, just a short drive from the glamorous coastline of Sardinia’s Costa Smeralda. The property is deeply rooted in local history; it was originally a collection of traditional “stazzi”—the humble stone farmhouses once used by Sardinian shepherds and farmers. The owner, who spent her childhood summers in these very fields, lovingly restored these rustic dwellings to preserve their authentic identity while transforming them into a serene, luxury wine resort.
The resort spans 32 hectares of lush parkland, offering a peaceful retreat that feels worlds away from the busy tourist hubs. The design celebrates this rural heritage by using local granite and traditional materials, complemented by antique family furniture and decor handcrafted by regional artisans. Each suite or villa is designed to feel like a private home, often featuring expansive verandas where you can relax and soak in the surrounding hills.
Nature and relaxation are at the core of the experience here, with two swimming pools and beautifully manicured gardens. The on-site restaurant, La Ciminea, is a highlight, serving refined interpretations of traditional Gallurese cuisine, often paired with excellent local wines.
Beyond the resort, you are perfectly placed to explore both the ancient and the modern. You can easily reach world-renowned beaches like those near Cannigione or visit the iconic Porto Cervo. For history lovers, the Arzachena area is home to fascinating archaeological treasures, including the prehistoric Giants’ Tombs and the mysterious Nuragic complexes that define the island’s ancient past.
Expert reviews
“Hotel Stazzo Lu Ciaccaru is rural romance in a nutshell, with granite-and-wood dwellings sprinkled across grounds planted with centuries-old olive trees. For extra luxury, there’s a private villa complete with four-poster bed and its own pool – at a price, naturally.”

It’s quite high priced but we would consider to stay here again.
The location and the suites are wonderful! The massage with Maria excellent, we highly recommend her. The lunch was excellent. Aldo is very nice and brings warmness to the staff.
The Menu in the evening is mainly fish based or other fancy things. We missed some traditional dishes. The breakfast looks on the first sight very nicely but is actually very average. Coffee is illy from a automatic machine and average. The staff was good but most of them not very warm or very kind. They did their job but that’s it.

Very pleasant. Quiet, and relaxing.
Excellent breakfast, nice grounds. The room was large and very comfortable with plenty of seating. Good swimming pools.
Only ‘fine’ dining available at night time. A less formal on site option would have been nice.

Loved it, but from five to four
Unfortunately, I’ll give this hotel four stars. Why? The restaurant never gave us a bill with the amount but a paper with what we ordered. When I asked about it, the receptionist said I should do the counting because the prices are at the Menu. Guess what?! I’m on vacation, I shouldn’t be doing this. We have never experienced this anywhere else. How do I know I wasn’t cheated? Sorry but this is a no go! Especially for tourists outside of Italy.

A must recommend for anyone visiting Sardinia!
a beautiful hotel with amazing views. the facilities are great but the staff even more so.
Anna & Elisa were very helpful, going above and beyond to arrange everything we needed
the staff full stop (bfast, the outdoor bar) (sorry can’t remember their names) were awesome!
additional cost for omelettes a little surprising, would have been nice if they’re included in the bfast but bfast itself was still very good

Beautiful setting but very limited eating options for a place in the middle of nowhere....
We stayed at this upscale country resort for a week - it is in beautiful gardens and surrounded by lovely countryside. Our suite was large with a good size bathroom but unforunately our view from the front terrace was obscured by a tall hedge (which had to be there for safety purposes but it was a shame we did not have a better view as my husband is a keen birder). The pool area was nice but it was quite windy and rainy when we were there so did not experience it to the max. The bar guy Aldo was incredible and I had a Pinacolada every day as I became addicted to them - made with fresh pineapple.
The eating options were terribly disappointing. The only restaurant on site is incredibly formal and ridiculously expensive! Our meal on the first night was over £200 for three courses each and a bottle of wine - which made it unsustainable to eat there every night. Plus the menu was very limited and a bit too 'fancy' (and we love gourmet food!). We just wanted some unpretentious Sardinian cooking. We also tried the lunch menu - one of us ordered the spaghetti in tomato sauce and it was the smallest portion I had ever seen and cost about £18. If you just want a snack, you can't get one at all (although Aldo did make us a toasted sandwich in the bar the first day we arrived on special request). It would seem sensible to make the bar area (which is on the other side of the grounds so it takes ages to get a gin and tonic if you order one in the restaurant!) into a casual dining area to give people more options. We had no choice but to drive to the local town or countryside restaurants for dinner every night which meant my husband could not drink with his meal. In fact on several occasions, we ate cheese, ham and bread on our room terrace with a lovely bottle of red purchased at the local supermarket - not to save money but just because we didn't want formal dining. A real shame for our holiday. By the way - Sardinian wine is excellent.

Lovely property but execution did not meet our expectations for the price we paid.
Value for money. Given the price, we were disappointed that we still had to pay for even the most basic item - drinking water. We were advised not to drink tap water. So the only choice was to pay 8 euros for a bottle of water at the restaurant. My advice is make sure you purchase lots of water from grocery stores.
