Hostel The Yellow, Rome

I absolutely loved the bar (you get a free drink + a discount on the next drinks). It was lively and I had so much fun! They organise pretty cool events all the time. Also, the staff was super friendly:)

When you book through booking, they charge you (but not the full amount). However, when you get to the property, they refund you and want you to pay them again (with either cash or card). It would make sense just to charge you the full amount in the first place. The corridors are super tiny so it's a bit hard to move with a big backpack/luggage:)

The bathroom stunk of sulphur as it seemed the drains were rather clogged. Not the most accessible building due to the many stairs, and the need to climb stairs to get to the elevator. But otherwise a really youthful, fun place.

The staff is very friendly. There is a free water tap available at the lobby for you to use to fill your water bottle or cup that was very useful for day travel. The 4-bed room I stayed in had quite reasonable facilities that were clean. The location was very convenient for efficient touring of the city. As long as you bring ear/headphones to block out noise from other sleepers or the street during sleep generally there are no problems at night. There is an extra bathroom near the lobby in case one of your roommates is using the one in your room. Since YellowSquare is a franchise with branches in various European cities, there is a predictability in format and quality to their facilities that helps you know what you are getting into when you use another one of them.

Inevitably your experience will depend on the people who stay in your room. Generally they are friendly and considerate, but living habits can vary. I myself may have annoyed a few people with my habit of talking in my sleep.

Honestly one of the best hostels I stayed in. Everything is so nice and clean, the rooms are spacious and tidy, the hot water was my highlight, the location is really close to everything specially the subway (3 minutes walking distance) the staff are so nice and friendly they always try to help you. If one thing I’d recommend is that they put a curtain over each bunk bed so it will be quieter and easier for the guests to enjoy a bit of privacy, specially if someone turned on the lights

Check in at 3pm quite inconvenient if you have an early flight and check out at 10am not good.

Everything! More then a hostel! The best for a solo travel or group of friends to be there and socialise. They have very nice restaurant pub where you can drink with discounts. They give your first day free pasta and drink there!

The room that I stayed was for 8 people but it is very spacious and comfortable. Room was very clean. The staff are great they are so nice and welcoming. The bar is also very good and fun. They are doimg activities all the time.

Great hostel in an old building nearby the central train station. The staff was very nice and accomodating, especially the blonde Latvian girl at the reception - sorry, didn't catch your name! Also, the hostel has it's own cafe/bar across the street and the breakfast there is amazing.

It would be nice to put curtains around each bed - there's even a space for them. Also, the 2d level bunk in the dorm room was quite high above the ground and it was difficult to climb up to it

Great vibe, good places to meet new people, great place to work on your own and to relax. Staff was awesome. Paolo and the Argentine guy were very very friendly and helpful.

I did not like that the bunk beds are made of steel and aluminium and are too noisy. When you hit them, it sounds like cymbals.

The CLEANEST hostel I've ever been to! Cleaners were passing by the room several times per day, also common restrooms were frequently cleaned. Dorm was really nice and spacious, kitchen and common spaces were great, not to mention the amazingly friendly staff and the bar, super cool! The area where the hostel is located is fine, nice and safe, conveniently close to Termini station and I've always felt safe as a girl

I loved the vibe of the hostel and enjoyed the activities at the bar. The place has a laundromat across the road and they have a few different hangout spots. But I met most of my traveller friends at the bar!

The bathroom in our room was a little mouldy. And climbing up/down the bunk bed ladder was a bit hard for me (I’m short) as the first step is quite far from the ground

Location is perfect, just a 5 minute walk to Termini station and close to many restaurants and supermarkets. There is a pharmacy right in front of the hostel and a nice little bar from the hostel as well.

Absolutely loved how everything at the hostel was! From the staff to the freebies - water, pasta everyday, earplugs, tampons, kitchen stuff! If you want to meet interesting people and have fun activities this is the hostel to be!

While it's quite close to Roma Termini, it's a bit far from the hip neighbourhoods and major attractions.

Breakfast did not have much options. I like that it was organized and clean.

On the first night, the shower area needs a bit more cleaning at the doors. On my second night, the cleaning area was very small where I cannot change in there and I right it was a closet. Improvements can be made to the shower areas.

The social events at night and the bar were great. The rooms were kept clean and the vibe at the hostel was inviting.

The location could’ve been closer to the main sights of Rome.

This hostel has great vibes and is a perfect base for exploring Rome. Staff on the 24hr reception are friendly, welcoming and help checkin with total ease. There is a lovely vintage lift to take you up to the floor your room is on and it is a physical key card for access to the corridor your room is on and the room itself. I was in a 4 bed female dorm and the beds were well made bunks and comfy. The room was spacious, quiet and had lots of space for baggage etc - and even a small mirror and seating area to get ready in the morning as well as a joint bathroom with shower. Each bed has its own light and plug sockets. There is an ample locker to put all your things in too - remember to bring your own lock! Location wise it is very close to the station which is ideal for travel. However, very close to the station is not the nicest area in Rome so worth bearing that in mind when you book here. It is maybe a 20-30 minute walk to sites such as the trevi fountain or the colosseum. The vibe is young traveller and there is a pub opposite where you are encouraged to go, which later at night very much has the sticky floor, cheap drink appeal of youthful drunkenness. However, there is also a couple of chill lounges inside the hostel itself where you can enjoy the more serene night experience with a book or a guitar if you so desire. Overall, fab place to stay and great value for money! I was very glad to have chosen here to recuperate after my 37 hour flight journey and to explore Rome. Thanks for a great stay!

The hostel was well organised and I loved the free pasta for dinner. It was a good way to mingle with other people. It’s quite a party hostel, maybe because of the time of the year so not really my vibe. But if you like to party then this would be perfect for you.

There were a lot of activities. The staff was friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was young and energetic but also laid back. They had their bar across the street with free pasta nights. The staff was open to changing our room when we had a problem with the room. We took advantage of their laundromat across the street. Dorm prices seemed OK, but our private room was a bit pricey in comparison to hotels in the area.

The room had a problem with a bad smell coming from the bathroom. We thought it was just old building smell the first night, but it was just too bad after the second night, even with closing the bathroom door.

Chose this as it was where the Contiki I was joining started. Great proximity to city.

Beds weren't the best, but it's a hostel, so I guess that's what you get. Very pricey for what you get.

The hostel is very nice, the staff is very friendly, the bar in front is nice as well. 8 minutes walk to Roma Termini.

I wish the bathroom was split between bath and toilet just to give more flexibility to the guests. I didn't have any issues as the other girls didn't need to use at the same time I did, but I can imagine if all 4 girls had a pretty similar schedule, it would be a nightmare to share. The aircon is not the strongest, however it was enough for the weather (around 30C). Not sure if it would be enough for the peak of the summer (38-40C)

I love the location of the property. Along with the yellow bar being right across the street. All the activities the yellow square had to offer the days I was visiting.

The WiFi network could have been better but other than that no complaints.

Noisy neighbors especially the bar downstair. Perhaps if the room were full, using only one bathroom takes you time to que.

The place was really nice, staff were very friendly and inviting, and the rooms were pretty comfortable. Each bunk bed had its own light, safe, power outlets and locker, and the room itself and the shared bathroom were pretty clean and tidy. The hostel offers free water and upon check in we are given a free beer voucher and a bracelet that gives us 20% discount in any drink at the bar.

I liked the staff and the yellowbar next door. The activity’s were also great! So near to termini which was practical
