Palazzo Scanderbeg, Rome

Piazza Scanderbeg, 117, 00187 Roma RM, Italy (show on map)

Palazzo Scanderbeg is a hidden gem tucked into a quiet square just steps away from the bustling Trevi Fountain. Dating back to the 15th century, the building was originally the residence of the Albanian national hero George Castriot, known as Scanderbeg, who settled there in 1466. After centuries of history—and even a stint as a pasta museum—it has been carefully restored into an elegant, boutique-style hotel.

The property beautifully bridges the gap between ancient heritage and modern luxury. While you will find grand architectural details like original high wooden-vaulted ceilings, the interiors feature clean, contemporary design. A unique touch is the use of reclaimed wood salvaged from Venetian “briccole” (navigational poles) used in the flooring, adding a subtle nod to Italian maritime history in every room.

As an apartment-style hotel, it offers an unusually spacious and private experience for such a central Roman location. Many of the suites come with fully equipped kitchens, and the service feels remarkably personalized, often including a dedicated butler to assist with everything from packing to local errands.

Its location is a dream for sightseeing, placing you within easy walking distance of iconic landmarks like the Pantheon, the Spanish Steps, and the Quirinal Palace. Despite being in the heart of Rome’s busy historic center, the hotel manages to feel like a tranquil, sophisticated urban townhouse where you can retreat after a day of exploring the city’s ancient wonders.

Exceptional apart-hotel with spacious, spotless rooms, good breakfastservice and excellent staff!

This was an exceptional experience for us. The stylish aparthotel has spacious, tastefully decorated and spotless rooms (we had a deluxe suite), equipped with all facilities, very good beds (we appreciate firm mattresses) and an excellent breakfastservice.
By having breakfast in the room, you can more easily share the bathroom with a family of 4 people while having breakfast in peace and quiet and in a private atmosphere. All this in a historic building within walking distance of the Trevi Fountain, the Quirinale and Barberini metro station. Very pleasant and friendly staff. Contemporary Rome at its best!

If we really have to find a negative... I was missing a kitchen towel. And the second bed was a sofa bed, but of such good quality that it was better than the average hotel bed.

Great week-long stay with great staff!

The Palazzo Scanderbeg staff was wonderful. There is 24 hr coverage of the reception desk. We were greeted upon arrival by Francesco. Our room was not ready (we were 2 hours early), but he made us comfortable with sparkling water and comfy chairs just off the lobby. He told us about the neighborhood and made reservations for lunch at the next door restaurant. He offered assistance with tours and restaurants throughout the week we were there. Umberto helped me with my phone issues and resolved a potential problem in minutes! The breakfasts were hot and substantial. The fridge was filled with yogurts, water, cokes, and a couple of beers. There was a microwave, burner, fridge, sink and everything needed during the week. The apartment was beautiful and spotless. No complaints. We were in easy walking distance of the Trevi fountain, the Pantheon, and Via del Corso. There are many great restaurants.

I do not know how anyone could lessen the numbers of tourists in Rome city center in September of course. But there were crowds. It is essential to have dinner reservations and reservations well in advance for the Vatican, the Coliseum, etc. Fortunately, we had the assistance of the Palazzo staff.

The front desk of the hotel made us feel very warm and welcoming. Like friends. Mr.Mubeto and Mr. Francis are the best s

The breakfast is not particularly rich, but the dining experience is quite good. Every time there is a breakfast room opposite our room, there will be two staff members serving us. Other hotel guests eat in their rooms. It’s just us, and it feels like a private chef.

It was extremely hot during our week in Rome, about 37 degrees Celsius every day, but the room was never very cool, and the air conditioner didn't seem to be very powerful.

We will be back and will recommend to others heading to Rome

It was fantastic. The value for size of the room was incredible. Spotless clean, modern rooms, excellent service. We will be back and recommend to others. Location was very convenient and many major sites in easy walking distance.

The breakfast was just ok. Along our trip it was definitely the most amount of space for our family which was fantastic. The amenities in the room were perfect and fully up to date. Place was comfortable. Breakfast quality was below the standard of the rest of the hotel.

10 for service, hospitality, room size and decor. I recommend this place without reservation!

Beautifully renovated property 50 meters from Trevi fountain.
The staff is 5 /5 star magnificent. We were welcomed with coffee as we arrived early and our bags were stored until check in.
One of the nicest staff members was Francesco. He is the most gracious, kindest and sweetest soul in all of Rome. He absolutely made sure we had everything for our stay. Our family cannot compliment this genuinely kind man enough! Umberto was also fantastic. The staff makes this property stand out.
We had a huge 1 bedroom apartment , 2 full baths ; all appointed with impeccable Italian design. The accommodation was so comfortable and some of the biggest rooms in all of Rome. Breakfast is served as room service. The presentation was magnificent. Refrigerators were stocked with complimentary cold drinks . Nice spa towels and robes with great quality toiletries.Little touches added up to a lot of comfort. The staff know how to pamper the guests! This hotel deserves more recognition for the hospitality it provides!

Located on a small narrow street and litter outside of hotel. The entrance is subdued . Lobby is simple but effective.
