Novotel Leme, Rio de Janeiro

The second room they gave us was confortable, ample and well insulated. The location was very good, just a few meters from Leme beach. The rooftop level has an amazing view and is nicely set up. Good and varied breakfast though breakfast room always packed with guests.

The reception was understaffed for the number of guests. Every time we needed to ask for sth we had to wait for 15 minutes in a queue. The weekend was packed with guests. Not enough space in the common areas for such traffic.They first gave us a room next to a lift, which was unbearably noisy. They made up for it by chaging us into a better room, which was far away from the lifts. Common areas were always packed with people.

Pool bar and swimming pool was of good size, really nice area. Rooms were of good size (except bathroom could have been bigger). Breakfast selection was good. Location - perfect 👍

Every day, at least 3 times elevator cards stopped working. Elevators were really extremely annoying thing. Especially if room is on 16tg floor.

Great location in Leme at Copacabana nearby the tunnel to Botafogo (nearby bike rental available). Friendly, helpful and efficient staff at check-in and check-out. Good, fresh breakfast - some windows in breakfast room with sea view. Ca. 100 meters to the beach - hotel is not located in the first row, but in the second row. Nice roof-top bar and restaurant with view and a small pool. Spacious guest room. Good value for money.

The location is terrific! Jut cross the road and you are by the beach. There is also a lovely cafe across the street that serves vegan food and coffee with an oat milk option (it is hard to find in Rio). The Afro-Brazilian restaurant next door is also a MUST try. During carnival, having ghe pool/rooftop was a blast. They had live music and lots of drinks/food to choose from. It could get crowded/a bit small but it was nice to have. Lots of Uber bike stations around, so you can grab a bike and go easily. Free beach chairs and umbrellas are also available. Breakfast is delicious

The rooms need an upgrade or the price of the hotel. Very old and bathrooms need to be modernized and updated. There NEEDS to be more elevators. Literally you could be waiting 5-10 mins for an elevator and only one goes directly to the rooftop. Also, kitchen NEEDS to buy milk alternatives like oat and soy. The price of this hotel and international clientele demands it.

- The way how they charge for stay. Booking price was US$1,454 including taxes (card was added to booking account). But they insisted to pay via their terminal and cost was US$1,673.05 including taxes. I have no idea why I was charged extra US$220 - A lot of ants in the room. They are everywhere... In the bathroom, in the room, on all tables. - Problems with elevators. During breakfast you can wait up to 20 minutes for available elevator.

There is also a 24 hour relatively large supermarket near the hotel, to get few small things to snack is pretty good.

There was sand in our room when we arrived (it's close to the beach, but they need to clean the rooms better). We asked them to clean it again, it took a day or two to completely get rid of the sand. The ventilator in the bathroom did not work, minor inconvenience, but the room was nice and the bathroom also.

+ Main plus of this hotel is its location: Leme is such a nice, safe, rather residential neighbourhood where you have a good mixture of locals and tourists, the walk to the beach is about two minutes, shops and restaurants nearby + all important places easy to reach by uber or bike + rooftop pool and bar + good breakfast + fully equipped minibar in the room

The hotel was good overall. The roof top exceeded the expectations and the location is quite good.

The shower in the room needs repair. And the water temperature during the bath alternate between hot and cold all the time, so the bath was not very pleasant.

The hotel is modern, clean and well located. Breakfast had lots of options and good quality. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

There is no parking available, and the nearest paid parking lot was full. The elevators are not integrated, so people call both at the same time, making unnecessary trips and causing delays

Liked the location of the hotel, just a stones throw from the beach. Staff were friendly and beds were massive.

Breakfast was crazy busy. There was an event on which means we weren't able to book a space on the rook terrace. As this was the main reason we booked his hotel - we were very disappointed that we hadn't been made aware of this. Also the lifts aren't fit for purpose.

Elevators need a urgent upgrade, they are too slow and often failing. Some rooms are poorly insulated from the others (I could hear any voice from the room below, then I got promptly another one)

Service at reception was very good when we arrived in the early morning on 2nd Nov. The receptionist (Arilma) spoke good English said that an early checkin room costs extra (I think 300 Reais) which we declined. We were directed to an area where we could get changed. The public areas are decorated in a nice modern design, and there are plenty of seats and desks for working. Our cases were taken into storage and we could go to the rooftop area to recover a bit from our overnight flight. Amazing views from up there: Leme hill & beach, Copacabana, and a glimpse of Cristo on Corcovado. The pool was very nice (water not too cold) and actually a good size for a rooftop pool. It was just about deep enough and 7 - 8 m long, so I could swim short lengths in there. The rooftop area got very busy and noisy on the weekend, with a DJ on Saturday afternoon/evening. We got to our room (standard) at 12 pm and it was larger than expected. The decor was basic and modern, with enough space for our stuff and plenty of USB sockets for charging devices. The bathroom was clean, had a small window and a large shower cubicle with a nice shower (no issues with temperature or pressure). The bedding looked clean and we had 2 small pillows each. Breakfast started at 6 am, and was good with lots of choice: fruit, eggs, sometimes bacon, continental breakfast, pao de queijo, and plenty of cakes. Coffee was okay. It was usually quiet until about 7:30 when it became busier, but we always found a seat and food that we liked. We never waited long for a lift, the ones at the back of reception often came quicker. Only one lift goes all the way to the rooftop on floor 21, but you can go up to floor 18 and then take a separate lift or walk up the stairs. The location was great, close to beach and plenty of restaurants nearby, our favourite was Yaya just opposite.

These are not negative points, but general comments: It wasn't a luxury hotel with VIP service, but a great basic option with facilities that match most of the more exclusive hotels. For the first 2 days we had no problems with the key cards. The key cards started playing up on day 3, we had to get them remagnetised at reception a few times. Sometimes they worked after a few attempts, other times we gave up and went back to reception. The bed was harder than what we're used to. The toiletries were in large dispensers and hard soap, which reduces single use plastic waste. We were there during bank holiday weekend and Libertadores cup final match. It was very busy with many Argentinian football players and fans in the hotel. So there was extra security and it got very noisy on Saturday night. But there was no trouble and actually a great atmosphere in the area.

The location is great and so is the staff. I had a problem with the food at the Bar, the Responsible did not pay attention, but the Hotel Staff did. I recommend Novotel Leme.

View from the bedroom was dismal. Behind an apartment building that blocked the view of Leme Beach. (Can’t help that of course) but over $200 for that was disappointing.

Staff, location and facilities were good.

Our room had many problems. Air conditioning leaked over the kids bed, then air conditioning controls didn’t work. Bathroom door handle fell off, shower handle fell off, toilet was blocked, key cards hardly worked on door or lifts which was frustrating. Problems were fixed quickly but more standard room maintenance is needed.

Helpful staff, good breakfast, nice and safe location. Rooms are renovated (but not all of them) and beds are of good quality.

Elevators need a urgent upgrade. There is always something not working with them. I had to change room four times in less than a week stay due to different issues (room with facilities for disabled people was overflowing water in the bathroom floor from the shower, next room AC was not working, then in the other one there was poor insulation and I could hear a baby screaming from the next room as early as 4 AM, last room in the 18th floor was just fine). Staff was always helpful and ready to help but the hotel needs some serious maintenance/upgrade.

I like it that it was so close to everything and had a beautiful view of Leme and Copacabana beaches!

Breakfast was way too expensive

The rooftop is impressing, all the staff was so kind and gentle with my family. I really like the location of the hotel and the breakfast. The rooms are comfortable.

I would like a room with a better extra bed for kid, that one it wasn’t soft, it seemed more like a sofa bed improvised. And the room’s smell it wasn’t good, but we even ask for another room, so its ok.

The immediate location was a little scruffy, but the hotel is only a 1-2 minute walk from Copacabana beach, which is ideal. The room was a good size, and the sweet treats left for us by management were a pleasure to enjoy.

The bathroom unfortunately suffered from bad smells from the drains. These never dissipated, even when we covered up all the drains.

unfortunately the room walls are very thin, and I heard all sorts… I stayed several nights and did not get a good night sleep. A part from very active neighbours, I think it was aircon and not being able to open windows. The hotel is clean, great location, very modern but unfortunately I wouldn’t recommend if you are thinking of coming for business …

It was the second time we stayed at this hotel. This time we stayed in a room on the top floor. Although the hotel did not have an open view, our room overlooked a slum. The view was very beautiful during the day and at night as well. The room was a good size and was cleaned daily. Check in and check out very fast. The internet is very good. The location wasn't perfect, but the hotel is a 3-minute walk from Leme beach. The view from the pool is very beautiful. The hotel staff were all very helpful.

We stayed over the holiday. The hotel was fully booked, we noticed that the quality of breakfast during the holiday was very bad. The pool area is very pleasant if live or electronic music is not playing. When there is music it is impossible to stay in the place, because the music is too loud. The hotel is a little higher from the street pavement, so there is a staircase to enter the hotel. You need to go upstairs with your bags, sometimes there is someone to help.

The hotel is close to Leme beach, about 2 minutes walk. The room was clean and organized. We were on the fifth floor, so the view was of the front building, but that wasn't a problem for us. The internet was very good, you could watch movies or even work remotely without any problems. Perfect! Very quick check-in and check-out with no bureaucracy. I loved! The pool area is very pleasant, it has a very beautiful view, a good place to relax, when it is not very busy. You can walk to shopping Rio Sul, it's about 20 minutes away. Leme beach is calmer than Copacabana, but if you prefer Copacabana, you can walk 8 minutes and you will be at Copacabana Posto 2. Logico, that walking in Rio always with great care, like any big city.

We noticed that the breakfast on days without movement was of good quality. However, on busy days, the breakfast was very bad, with very poor quality products. We made a complaint because the quality of the breakfast actually declined on busy days, a pity. The bathroom stall did not have a good seal, it leaked a lot of water when used. The location of the hotel, although close to the beach, is not very pleasant. At night, on the street of the hotel, there are many people sleeping on the street, not a pleasant sight. The hotel does not have an access ramp, so you have to go up a few steps with your bags (sometimes there is someone to help).

The hotel is in a very nice location, well renovated. The breakfast is excellent and the staff is very helpful and efficient. Check-in process was extremely fast, and I want to highlight that the hotel is finally going plastic free (in the room, the small soap and shampoo bottles are gone). I also loved the good lighting in the room. I came to this hotel several time when I am in Rio for business, and I usually choose this hotel for good quality/price ratio.

The hotel elevator are still a bit weird and they would need an upgrade. Especially after selecting multiple floor stops, the light of the booked floor will turn off after the elevator stops, so it makes very confusing for the guest to understand if it will be actually stop or not (sometimes it does not). The room and bath was really clean, however during the last night of a one week stay I found I huge cockroach running around in the bathroom. Kind of unpleasant to kill and flush. I also had an issue with in-room dining, where the restaurant was trying to deliver to another room (which was empty) for a long while, it took me two times to call the restaurant before they could deliver a very late dinner. However I appreciated the fact they did not charge me for the dinner because of all the issues.

I requested vegan breakfast options. I was informed there would be choices and for that reason, I booked breakfast for each day of my stay. My options were VERY limited- gluten bread and jam - and although the chef tried to help on the last day of my stay, I'm dissapointed. Had I been informed that there wouldn't be much for me to eat, I would not have booked room and breakfast.

Me and my friend had a very nice stay at this hotel. It’s very well located, staff is very friendly (reception and catering) always with a smile, always helpful and willing to solve any problem or question. Very clean and peaceful.

We were greeted with kindness from the moment we arrived. All staff were exceptional but the front desk clerks and the restaurant manager were especially kind and helpful. The roof top lunge service could have been a bit more prompt and I was disappointed that I couldn't order a single glass of wine as opposed to purchasing an whole bottle.
