it’s old, rooms are not cozy and it’s not been taken care of for a long time. breakfast it’s like a zoo - bunch of people squeezed together in a small space trying to eat. buffet bad, plain and tasteless

balcony was a bit unsafe if you have kids you can’t really slide the doors open.

Magnificent location, friendly reception

Old building, old rooms and bathrooms, tiny breakfast restaurant space, you actually have to fight for your space in the breakfast. Old air conditioning, annoying smell on the room floor.

the rooftop pool was brilliant with a fantastic view and it’s beachfront to a quite part of the beach

30 minutes delay on entering the room with a child the prices of food drink were outrageous and the tv was faulty

This is not a 4 star hotel. Bedroom furniture are quite old, the pool is super small as well as the rooftop area. It feels like the staff are confused and not prepared at all, very poor service. I've booked the place based on the pictures, because the view of the rooftop is gorgeous! But there are other places with this view, this hotel definitely doesn't worth the price.

Great location, lots of lovely restaurants nearby and you're next to a lovely part of the beach. The breakfast was also decent.

-The room was a little dated and the fridge made a lot of noise -The pool on the roof although nice is a lot smaller than it seems in the photos and there are minimal sunbeds -The ATM in the lobby robbed us blind with a commission charge -The concierge pressured us to take a taxi to Christ the Redeemer and was clearly in cahoots with the taxi driver and we were overcharged

very dated, breakfast was basic and hard to get anything fresh or quality if we requested it. bath products not good, had to buy our own. NOT 4 star level

The receptionist was incredibly kind. We've arrived early and they had early complimentary early check-in, also we were offered a room with a sea view, I was travelling with a friend and the receptionist was very kind to ask if we wanted to have 1 double bed, we could be having the seaview without extra cost, we took it and it was incredible.

Hairdryer was old and didn't work.

Fantastic view but old hotel not we conservated.

Breakfast only till 10 on weekdays was a problem. By the time we got there at 10:10 or so they had taken away the coffee.then they whisked away the rest of the food as other guests arrived and were turned away.

absolutely perfect. rooftop pool had the most amazing view in Ipanema for the sunset and room overlooking the beach was gorgeous. walking distance everywhere, right across the street from the beach

The staff was exceptional from the first greeting to the last good bye! Professional, friendly and extended extra help. The view from my room was the best, best, best. I was "one" with Ipanema Beach! The breakfast buffet had many options for all cultural tastes. The breakfast staff were attentive and pleasant. I will stay here again and again when I return.

Very rundown hotel. Needs a lot of maintenance and cleaning. Needs refurnishing. Most of the staff although very friendly but they don’t speak any English. The photos on booking don’t match reality. There were ants in the room and on the bed. The AC is very noisy.

Over priced for standard of decor and cleanliness. Gym was basic/dated. Breakfast wasn’t good (cold eggs, we left to go elsewhere on the second morning). Leaking tap in room. Insects/ants in room.

I was robbed in front of the hotel while I was going to the UBER waiting for me in front of the hotel. I also heard that several cases happened like this. Security is very poor.

This hotel is such a disappointment and a sad place in such a lively and lovely part of Rio… I will gently start with the positive point: they have an amazing photographer (and most likely photoshoper…) as pictures tend to largely differ from reality - please don’t get trapped. Now looking at less positive points. It’s such a shame that the hotel is not taking care of to that point. All from the rooms, common areas (lobby/ room corridors/ breakfast room) to the pool area, are so old and tired. Probably 30 years of letting this place fading away. Rooms are small, poorly furnished. Nothing proposed, no coffee, no water offered, crap TV. Nothing on rooms balcony to sit and see the view. Lots of street noise. Not comfortable beds / pillows. Our windows did not close properly… Pool area is quite a sad place, with so much potential. 2 poor table and 4 sunbeds - no service. Sauna does not work… no Gym. Breakfast is ok, but again no service and a sad room. Personnel is not friendly. Front desk is ok, partially helpful. Bottom line, the hotel pricing can’t be justified only by the view the hotel benefits and it’s location, it needs some investment and work to raise the quality of its services and level of maintenance. We have tried other hotel in the surroundings (eg, Fairmont, Janeiro, Miramar) which are way better value for money.

Run down, dirty bathrooms, run down finishing in the bedroom. Dust deeply piled up in the bathroom shower vent, crevices not touched for months.

Lovely room, with amazing view. Nice part of Ipanema Beach, not too crowded. Beach chairs included.

We set up a little tripod for our cell phone to take a couple of photos by the pool, but staff said it wasn't allowed. Due to the tripod they said it was like a "professional" setup. Make sure to ask first.

There were lorries working in the beach during the night, so I couldn’t sleep.

The beachfront location is priceless! Beach service (chairs and parasol) is very handy. Breakfast is tasty and plentiful. Staff are super friendly and helpful.

The room itself has seen better days. The bed linens were rough. Not a room made for lounging, but it wasn't really an issue. The beachfront view was spectacular. It was fun to hang out listening to the sounds of the beach and urban life.

The location including the view from the infinity pool at the top of the hotel was excellent!!

Location is fantastic (the beach, the sunset) providing you don't mind some noise. Staff were lovely. Bed was comfy.

I was on the first floor and there was a great deal of noise from the park next door and the road especially on weekend nights. Very hard to sleep.

The hotel is so far away from 4stars. It is old, needs serious renovation. Rooftop with the pool is quite dirty and worn out, rooms smell of bleach, and we literally found poop in our toilet when we checked in- so much for cleaning. Very poor breakfast. We asked the reception whether they know where we can rent a ball for beach volley, and they were looking at us as if we asked for the equipment for ice hockey- in front of the hotel there are beach volleyball courts for kilometers, which is why the question.

The location and clinliness

This hotel is ideally located just across the road from the beach. Nice restaurants and supermarkets nearby. The staff in reception were very helpful and spoke English which made life easy for us. Breakfast was very satisfactory with lots of choices offered.

I don’t know if this is a problem with the hotel’s credit card technology or not but my MasterCard credit card was declined by the system even though it had been preloaded with money. Fortunately I was travelling with family who could pay my bill. My MasterCard provider assures me that the problem was not caused by MasterCard. So perhaps future travellers should make sure they have more than one method of payment with them. Perhaps the hotel could check this out as it could cause serious problems for future travellers. My family members were using Visa and Revolut which were accepted.

Very well located and staff incredibly friendly.

Pictures didn’t match at all what you see on the website. Doorknobs where loose, bathroom sink was dirty, tap didn’t work properly…. Wasn’t worth the price.

The room was oceanfront and the location was excellent as we wanted to be close to Leblon

Because there was little room availability during the Carnaval days, the price of the room was very high and did not match the level of the room accommodations.

best view in all of rio. get a room high up, amazing look out over the beach. Amazing staff.

I could only stay one day. Would have like to stay two weeks. Try and stay at least two days this place is amazing.

The view which we paid extra for was incredible. Stay as high up as possible to avoid the traffic noise. This end of the beach is quite quiet and you can hear the sea. The staff were really good! Very welcoming and helpful. The breakfast is a buffet and huge. Decent.

It is in need of repair. 3 plug sockets didn't work, so had to use just one which was halfway up the wall by the door. There was a big hole in the glass window with cardboard to repair it. The balcony is tiny and no furniture there to sit and have a drink. Bathroom door was broken. Wifi was bad Toilet broke A lot of money considering the state of repair that's needed.

the staff of friendly, breakfast is really great and the location is absolutely fantastic.

it’s not really about the hotel, but how people behave in the pool area. specially parents letting their kids do as they might, not paying attention to the fact others might also want to use the pool.

Praia had a room ready to check in at an early time after a long overnight flight, at no charge, which was greatly appreciated! The location is great, the bed was comfortable, and the breakfast was nice.

Staff had difficulty deducting min-bar and room service purchases from deposit and returning the balance. However, four days after check-out, the issue was correctly solved. The pool area is tiny with stained cushions and old furniture; took one look and immediately left the pool area.
