Pestana Vintage Hotel, Porto

Location and lovely staff.

We paid in advance for our room. The hotel put £200 on a card to cover any extras. When we checked out our extras were 214€. I paid my half of our 214€ bill but my friends card had 200€ actually taken from the card and they also charged the full 214 too so 414€ taken. My friend has not been refunded yet and expects it via her bank in November, so very disappointing front desk management. Other than that the hotel was great.

Location and breakfast

Location was a 10. Staff and hotel were excellent. Room a little small and +/- dated with bathroom being acceptable. Old/historic hotel. Excellent breakfast.

Air conditioning was a little antiquated. Room was a little small and bathroom a little dated with fair water pressure.

It was uphill to anywhere from the hotel. Ubers could not get directly to the hotel.

Proximity to river was great. Rooms were modern.

Perhaps being close to river the damp smell of room was more pronounced. Cars can’t drive directly to hotel as it’s in a private square so dragging luggage uphill was a challenge.

The location is amazing, however, you must be aware that many automobiles can't (or won't) drive to the front door. Our Uber dropped us about a block away, and at least one taxi made us climb the hill to get in the car. That said, once you are in the property you are immersed in the Ribeira scene and can walk to everything. The building has an old and new part, both are kind of smallish but have great views (if you are on the river side). The breakfast is extensive and goes on until 11am - nice for tourists.

The service could have been better for a 5 star property. The onsite wine bar was especially bad - may be a recent addition. Their wine was overpriced and service was dismal.

What a beautiful location! Right on the Duoro river, with stunning views of Luis I bridge and Vila Nova de Gaia. Good food (at Ribs) in the hotel, but also great local food in the vicinity and a few minutes walk from the hotel. The room was comfortable and clean, and the staff super friendly, generous, and helpful. The entire focus of this hotel is to ensure the best guest-experience.

What was there not to like!? Perhaps the quality of some of the breakfast items (e.g baked beans, and eggs cooked to order) could be scaled up. The baked beans was not as expected in terms of taste, and the eggs benedict was not quite done properly. Still, plenty of breakfast options as fuel before a day out.

Location, location, location. We expected to like the location but we LOVED it. The view, the walkability, the proximity to the bridge, restaurants, vendors. . . along with the comfort, scrumptious breakfast buffet and excellent service,

Perfect location to the Duoro River and all attractions. You didn’t have to drive anywhere, and believe me, you don’t want to drive in Porto unless absolutely necessary.

Amazing staff and room location. Very helpful and the breakfast was incredible.

There was a strong perfume smell in the 4th floor hallway but otherwise it was perfect in every way.

The staff was outstanding, very attentive and helpful.

The location on was perfect. The outdoor seating after touring the city was ideal.

The property was beautiful, and room was very quiet with an awesome view of the Douro River. The main restaurant was unique, with excellent service. Daily breakfast offerings were tasty. The two small bars in the front and river side were both relaxing and enjoyable to watch activities. Front desk also was very helpful with recommendations and assisting with transportation.

No issues noted whatsoever. Property is exceptional!

Furnishings a little dated.

Great location, a bit challenging for car driving guests however, as you cannot pull into the hotel. Rather, you have to park to the side of the road near the top (hope it’s not garbage collection hour like it was for me!), and bring your luggage down to the hotel. Parking not far at all however, which made up for it.

Some of the restaurant staff didn’t like seeing my service dog with me. And service felt slighted on the last day especially.

Location was great. Our room was modern, spacious and clean. The staff was friendly and helpful with all our questions. Breakfast was superb! We will definitely stay here again our next visit to Porto.

The location is right in the middle of everything. The breakfast is full and wonderful and sets you up for a great day of touring the city and area. Compliments to the chef.

Wonderful hotel, staff, service, amenities, and location. An amazing breakfast is included. They were especially welcoming to our service animal providing a dog bed, food and treats! Truly one of the nicest hotels anywhere.

This hotel has an excellent location. Right on the river and the center of many of the things happening in the city. We upgraded to a balcony room that faced the river. Well worth the charge. Beautiful views. Every morning there was a great breakfast included. Though the building is old world, this hotel was very updated and had many modern conveniences. An extra nice touch was the welcome amenity of port and pastries. Also, a fantastic shower. I don't think I've ever encountered a shower with the pressure and temps that this one had.

Because of the location, it is at the bottom of the hill, along the river. Everywhere is an uphill walk, but the positive is that it is downhill on the way back to the hotel. Many times cars are not allowed down the street to the hotel, so upon check out, we had to walk the block up the hill to meet our Bolt taxi.

Beautiful hotel, centrally located. The staff is excellent!!! They make you feel very welcome!

Restaurant people in the mornings don’t understand customer service and watching out for their needs and wants. Even tough to get a coffee refill.

No on site parking but public parking is nearby. Staff will help with luggages from parking.

Rooms may be noisy from street below.

Excellent location and central

The staff were amazing and so friendly. The hotel is amazing overall! The location is so good! The room was really nice. The breakfast was good. The bar options are so good as well!

but the space for the breakfast area was a little too crowded. The bathroom shower in the room could be improved related to the spray that exits to the bathroom floor area. The bathroom doors are glass which are beautiful but in our case would not stay shut.
