Hotel Torel Avantgarde, Porto

Welcoming, friendly and excellent customer service throughout our stay. We came with our 1 year old and the team made us feel so relaxed and looked after. The location is perfect to walk into town and explore central Porto. The facilities, restaurant and room were all great but the best feature has to be that view over Porto. Wonderful.

The view from our room was beautiful. The breakfast was great. The bed was big and comfy. The shower was excellent. There was a cool lounge to relax in. The staff members were great, always friendly and helpful.

It was just a little bit out of the way from central Porto. Comms with the staff was sometimes a bit hit & miss due to language.

Th staff are welcoming, friendly and they all speak english . I also got an upgrade for free to the execuitive room " Mozart" so thank you for the guy who was on duty for this nice gesture. He also gave me a tour to the hotel . I cant thank them all enough for this phonomenal and unforgettable experience.

Although the elevator was out of service for one day and a half , I was not bothered as I was staying in the 1st floor and taking the stairs was okay with me

Everything was excellent. From check-in to check-out, the staff members are professional and efficient. Always helping with a smile and great hospitality. Our dinner experience was fantastic, and the food was exceptional—a place to come back to in the Summer.

I’ve been visiting Porto since 2018 because the city and its people completely captured my heart — sometimes I even come twice a year. At Torel Avantgarde, it no longer just feels like coming home; from the moment you step into the lobby, you’re welcomed with genuine warmth and care right up until the day you leave. The service is exceptional, the facilities are excellent, and the staff’s friendliness and sincerity are truly outstanding. No request is ever too much, and you’re always helped with a smile. There’s a sauna, steam room, and swimming pool available without reservation, and every time I’ve used them, I’ve had the space entirely to myself. The morning gym facilities are also great before heading into the city. Another big plus is the location — just a comfortable 10-minute walk from the center. The rooms are all designed around an artist concept, so no two are alike. After staying here for several years, I still find myself pleasantly surprised each time. The balconies overlooking the Douro are phenomenal. The breakfast, bar, and dinner options are all excellent as well. I keep returning year after year because this place makes every stay in Porto even more special. I even celebrated a milestone birthday here this year — with a bottle of champagne and a lovely card waiting in my room, and another surprise at breakfast the next morning. In short, it’s a truly exceptional hotel in every way. A strong recommendation, and I will definitely keep coming back. Overwhelming — in the best possible sense.

There was an event at the hotel during the days we stayed and we were unable to use the restaurant and bar.

The rooms are very dark, def need better lighting. Sheets are not amazing.

What a fantastic hotel. Stylish, warm, and personal. Perfectly located in the heart of Porto, with a beautiful view from the terrace. The staff make you feel right at home. The rooms are beautifully decorated.

I was only staying one night as Easyjet bumped me off the plane back to London, so I thought I would treat myself to an afternoon by a pool and some superior comfort. I got both - the hotel is stunning, if a little expensive. And the views are to die for. My room was fabulous, incredibly luxurious with a superb bed and linen and every other facility I could have wished for, even the sound of tinkling water outside my room. Sadly I had to leave it at 7am for the new flight. The staff were absolutely fantastic as well and I hope I will be back one day.

Biggest room has Hot Tube and great view! Front desk people were the best I have ever experienced. Erica the shift manager made the trip great by making , numerous reservations and suggestions. Erica is fabulous!

Lighting in room is vertical poor! Required using flashlight to find almost everything.

We loved everything: apart I from a nasty slip and hard fall on the unsafe and smooth concrete around the indoor pool. The room was large and glamorous and so very comfortable. Staff were kind and helpful. The location is great, on the edge of the busy area. The view from our room over the Douro was beautiful, especially at night with all the sparkly lights.

Wish we could’ve stayed longer

The outlook was superb as was the quality and presentation of the food, it was excellent. The hotel had a small pool which was great for a city hotel. The staff were also extremely helpful both before our arrival arranging taxi transfers from the airport and transport to the port house.

The service in the restaurant was slow on one evening, we booked our table for 8pm, our meal arrived at 9.30pm and was lukewarm. The attention seemed to be given to a larger table and we felt pretty ignored that particular evening. (I have to say that the following evening was much better)

Loved everything. The staff were wonderful, so friendly and helpful. The hotel interior was contemporary and clean and a relaxing environment. Enjoyed some time at the pool, had a lovely massage.

Everything, the location the stuff the rooms and the breakfast was excellent

We had a genuinely lovely stay at Torel Avantgarde. The biggest highlight was the staff: everyone we encountered was kind, proactive, and truly committed to making our experience enjoyable. It felt like they were personally invested in our comfort. The on-site underground parking with valet service was a huge plus, especially in a city like Porto where parking can be tricky.

Although the interior design was well done, the hotel feels a bit dated in terms of its structure and especially the room layout—around the sink and bathroom area—was cramped and not very functional. Still, overall a very good stay and we appreciated the warmth and service of the staff.

It truely is an incredible setting. The pictures don't do it justice. Food was outstanding, lunch was absolutely delicious, creative menu. Super friendly but professional staff that couldn't do more for you. The location of the hotel is in a great area of Porto in close proximity to cool neighbours and streets whilst not being far Dom Luis Bridge

We stayed in room 48 which beautiful. The hotel all the staff were outstanding. We absolutely loved it and cannot wait to come back.

There is not a single thing I could fault

Exceptional hotel & spa. The room is very comfortable. We had two balconies; one of bedroom and one off sitting room. The room had a kettle and Nespresso fridge and iron and hair dryer. The facial at the spa was the best experience I’ve ever had. Breakfast was excellent with a cook to prepare your eggs exactly as you wish.

The restaurant for dinner requires 1-2 days advance reservations so it’s important to reserve ahead of your stay if you wish to eat there. Although the food was prepared very well, we felt the portions were scarce for the meal.

The staff were amazing and the facilities were exceptional. The view from the pool and the rooms were beautiful. From check in Alex gave us a comprehensive tour of the hotel and gave us great recommendations for seafood as well as arranging a private sailboat tour for us.

The spa expierence could of been a little better as the therapist didn't ask what pressure to apply, and did not increase pressure despite being asked twice

Breakfast was excellent and so were the rooms. The hotel is around a 8-10 mins walk to the centre. It's a pleasant walk and is in a quiet neighbourhood. Staff was extremely courteous and made us feel at home. The cocktails at the bar were great! The pool is a nice option to dip into after a day in the town.

We were disappointed that the steam room was not functioning. The terrace area is gorgeous but we could not sit there to eat breakfast as the sun would beat down on us. Would be good to have some curtains at the terrace restaurant for the few hours in the morning.

Stellar room (we had the Da Vinci) with a view, breakfast was delectable and the pool/terrace area stunning...will definitely go back!

We had an absolutely wonderful stay! The location is ideal, with a stunning view that you get to enjoy every morning from the perfectly positioned infinity pool and restaurant terrace. The pool itself was the perfect temperature—very refreshing and relaxing. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful, offering us great tips that led us to some of the best restaurants in town. The welcome process was smooth and warm, making us feel relaxed from the start. Our room was upscale, comfortable, and high quality—everything felt thoughtfully designed and well maintained. The food and drinks were also top-notch, with great attention to both flavor and presentation. Overall, a beautiful and memorable experience. Highly recommend!

We stayed here for our first wedding anniversary and absolutely loved it! The facilities were exceptional especially the pool and spa area. We both had an amazing massage in the spa, used the gym and had a fabulous meal in the restaurant! Couldn’t recommend this place enough for a special occasion!
