The Hoxton, Portland

This is excellent for solo travelers. The room was very nice and looked like it been updated recently. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was modern and spotless, and I liked that they included not just coffee but tea and bottled waters in the fridge for free where a lot of hotels charge for those items. Staff was fantastic. I also loved that you could buy an extra hour or two on your check out time for $10/hour. I would absolutely stay here again.

I didn't mind this at all, but I could see some people wishing the room was bigger. Might've been a little cramped in there with two people and a lot of luggage, but as a solo traveler I had no issue with it.

Quaint, in historic Portland, clean, comfortable, friendly staff.

Neighborhood still recovering from COVID shutdown

It was a lovely hotel in terms of rooms and staff. In particular the staff were friendly and helpful. The beds were very comfortable.

I found that the coffee shop and the restaurant/bars were not always open. I got back from a long walk at just after 14.00. The ground floor restaurant was closed for service and the only thing available were snacks such as potato chips from reception until about 18.00 when the roof top restaurant opened.

Staff was amazing, rooms very clean and location perfect.

A lovely boutique hotel with two restaurants, including a rooftop. The staff was fantastic and friendly. The smallish rooms were perfect with everything that you need.

I didn't eat there, but we loved the complimentary water. Hotel had a nice atmosphere, clean, and staff was very friendlly

We were in a snug room which was tiny for 2 people and a dog so we changed rooms for the 2nd night we had room 212 and the ends of the bed are sticking out and we kept running into them. Really liked the hotel but being downtown there was to many homeless so we won't stay there again.

The staff was VERY accommodating in changing our rooms from very bad rooms to very good rooms quickly and without additional charges (see below). The rooms we had in the end were very comfortable, clean and quiet. The hotel was generally quite nice--seemed like it had been recently remodeled. The location was good in terms of proximity to all the best places to visit.

We were initially booked into very bad rooms that were super small and VERY noisy--not sure how they could fix that--maybe they could be more clear about the choices we were making when we booked. But a big part of the problem is the location of the hotel in the clubbing neighborhood, which is very loud on the weekends. The location is also problematic because there are so many homeless camped out around the hotel, which is quite unpleasant when coming and going, but they can't really fix that.

Interior was very nice and tasteful. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful in any situation.

Very minor: I did miss the live music in lobby/restaurant on Friday - did not pay attention to details.

Superb hotel. Comfortable and cozy rooms, good bed and shower. The staff is helpful and friendly. Definitely I’d like to be here again.

Maybe the surrounding area does not feel very safe at night.

Loved the big picture window looking out on the city. We played the cute radio in our room, turned the couch around and looked out the window and relaxed the rest of our evening.

The beds were a little hard. No liners in the garbage cans. I felt bad putting garbage in them without a liner. We stayed 2 nights. We did leave a tip for the cleaning person but didn't get our towels replaced.

I liked the size of the room and how the bathroom was concealed.

My room was across the hall from a utility closet that seemed to buzz and random mechanical sound. The sign for the hotel was also directly out my window, the sign is very bright. There was some tan discoloration kn the otherwise white bedding.

Clean, central, lovely people working at the desk! In my first room my tv didn‘t work, i then got uprgraded which was amazing.

i got promised that i could prolong my stay on the the last morning of my booking, so i shouldn‘t do it in advance for some reason. however in the actual morning i got kicked out because apparently all of a sudden the hotel was overbooked. not a huge deal, just beware. apart from that every one was lovely and helpful and the rooms are very nice, too!

What a lovely clean hotel with wonderful decor and very friendly staff. We enjoyed both coffee shop and rooftop bar. Lovely amenities in the bedroom.

Downtown Portland, while peppered with great eateries and bars, has a great deal of homelessness which uncomfortable at times.

Overpriced. I stayed at an equally beautiful place with friendly staff and clean for half the price.

The location was very convenient for train travel and local transportation. Walkable to many places. Yes there are homeless people on the streets but I never felt unsafe.

The front desk staff was amazing. I love all the restaurants and how beautifully decorated it is, very clean inside. The rooms were very creative and cute although they were minimal.

Obviously, the outside is very loud. Valet is very expensive.

The staff were mega helpful. The hotel was great and it was close to all the downtown bars, restaurants and the donut shop.

Only thing to comment on was the grouting in the shower. Needs a good scrub !

The staff were very professional and friendly and the facility was clean although the room was on the smaller side. :)

We stayed 2 different nights at this hotel (a week apart, one night each) and used the valet service for our car. They charged the correct fee on the first stay; however, they double-charged on the second stay and haven’t refunded the overcharged portion. Make sure they charge the correct amount!

The front desk service is amazing. I love the indoor bicycle valet! Location is ideal for union station.

Good central location that is now not a good neighborhood to walk around in.

Most of the staff was great. As the saying goes, a bad apple will spoil the bunch. One employee was so unpleasant that it was enough for me to mention here. Only time I saw them smile was when they could answer “no” to a question I had.

The cozy atmosphere, the details, the artwork, the amenities, the security, the breakfast door option.

The room was smaller than I realized, but it was still amazing. The bathrooms need some sort of door/curtain on the shower. Water got everywhere.

Delicious tacos, cocktails and good company from. Very friendly and interesting bar tender.

Downtown felt a little sketchy. I was particularly miffed about having to pay 60 bucks a day for parking as had chosen the hotel based on ‘parking’ being a facility. A bit more transparency would have been nice.

location was central to getting around in the city close to a lot of fun shopping, restaurants, etc. I loved the view in the room and the vibe of the hotel. the hotel rooftop bar and restaurant were amazing.

The location is a little shady, felt safe enough but maybe not for walking around at night.

I really like the historic features of the building with the modern decor and amenities. The buildings location was great for walking around even though there was an issue with homeless people surrounding the block it’s located on. The hotel did have security that let me in with my late arrival so that was reassuring.

The homeless people all around making it somewhat uneasy when wanting to walk around the neighborhood.

Great location, close to a lot of food options and Ground Kontrol arcade is one block away. Also the rooftop view is very nice at the hotel, not many places offer this.

Can't complain, selected a smaller room and it worked great for a single person traveling.

The hotel is beautifully decorated and the staff were so friendly and helpful. The rooftop restaurant was gorgeous and convenient after a long day of travel, and the food was also delicious and great value for money.

The hotel is conveniently located in Chinatown/Old Town, however there's a really high number of homeless people in the area and since I was travelling with my teenage daughter, we didn't always feel safe. We had a Snug room which is appropriately named. If anyone is travelling with a lot of luggage, it's a very tight squeeze for two people to get around the room so it would be okay for one person but any more than that, you may consider getting a larger room.

Quick and easy last minute checkin, nice lounge area, very close to restaurants and bars!

I was on a lower floor so I would have preferred a higher floor for noise, however this was a last minute booking and just for one night.

The staff on the whole were helpful. The second room we were moved to was great. We were moved because road works that started early in the mornings was very noisy.

The first room we had was minute. There was no room for our cases and the double bed was pushed up against the wall. We moved room due to noise and we were given a much better room. But I don’t know if it would have been worth the money.

The personnel were really kind and helpful. The room was clean but small, the common areas were spacious and nice with books and magazines, you can bring your laptop and work there within a nice atmosphere.

The neighborhood is full of homelessness. I had to wait for a long time at the rooftop restaurant for my dish (didn't charge it).

Everything was great. Parking was a little more expensive than other Portland hotels though.

High end furniture and lounge area with vibes makes this a comfortable stay. Spacious room and no dog fee is a big plus. Staff sits around while you load your luggage instead of helping out but everyone is friendly. Free bikes are nice but it was too hot out to partake.

Despite not having a pool or a gym, the hotel adds a $30/day resort fee. The location was in the middle of DT PDX, with lots of broken glass and unhoused people roaming the streets. Pick a better neighborhood.

Very stylish, good downtown location

Filthy shower with black mold/mildew. No bathroom fan. No door on shower, just a partition that let water flood the bathroom floor. No microwave in room. Constant noise from…air ducts? Pipes? Not sure. When we checked in there was a man in our room doing maintenance. Why didn’t the front desk tell him we were checking in lol

Great great location! Same street with Powell’s book store which was just a couple blocks down. Voodoo doughnuts was a minute walk just across the street. The staffs were awesome, Andre at the front desk was super helpful and welcoming!

Andre was particularly helpful, courteous, and patient!

No view out window at all. 1st floor facilities seemed to be closed.

Great location, friendly staff, the rooms were clean & comfortable, the location felt safe.

My only complaint is the bathrooms not having exhaust fans, or doors on the shower, it made it hard to shower without getting water all over the floor, and hot showers would have the room feeling muggy. Not a big deal, but just something to consider.

The staff are super welcoming and friendly, and allowed for early check in given available beds. I love the speakeasy, rooftop bar that they have here. The location is walkable to the MAX rail as well as to the other parts of downtown.

Not with the hotel itself, but the area surrounding has homeless people nearby so be careful of your surroundings.

Close to the Star Theater and also tram service, however not many Chinese restaurants so the food truck was for lunch. I will stay here again unless I find a hotel with a Czech restaurnt really close.

Nice clean rooms. The beds were amazing. Good air conditioning. Friendly staff, especially Sonja (I believe her name was) our waiter at the roof top restaurant Tope. She took very good care of us and told us about nice places to visit. We relly liked the quesadilla and rockfish tacos at the restaurant and the churro bites were amazing. Very nice to lounge in the lobby area and have coffee from the in-house coffee shop. Close distance to the water front which is nice for walks, the saturday market and all kinds of stores for shopping and close but not too close to the train that can take you to Cascades station shopping center or airport for example.

The immediate area is not so great, visible drug use. But that being said we never felt unsafe. There is always someone stationed at the door/lobby.
