Boulders Resort & Spa, Scottsdale

The property was beautiful and the surroundings were stunning. It was easy to walk anywhere and no distance longer than 5-10 minutes. The staff was very attentive and our needs were met within minutes of asking. We stayed in a 4 bedroom hacienda and we were very pleased with the size, cleanliness and decor.

Loved the casitas and the ease of leaving your car parked the whole time. Never had to wait on a golf cart to pick us up;)

Four stars. I’ve stay at several Four Seasons and this is as close as you’re going to get. We stayed 5 nights 6 days in a 3 bedroom casita with 7 of us and it was perfect. Staff were friendly and very attentive. The text ability to request items or ask questions was top notch and responsive.

Be prepared to walk or be shuttled around the property. However, we never waited more than a few minutes for a cart or shuttle.

Great scenery and dramatic landscape.

The staff were shocking. Everything was about money. Not coming from a culture where tipping is a “must”, I was shocked to be met with tuts, smirks and disapproving looks because I only tipped 10%. That wasn’t the worst of it though - things really unravelled after I left and after I checked out. The hotel tried to bill me £300 AFTER my account was closed and I was back in the UK. They claimed the extra was for the room & claimed booking.com got the price wrong for the room I was staying in. Booking.com & Amex ended up getting involved to force the return of the £300 because the room booking.com quoted is what was pre-agreed. But it doesn’t stop there. A month after leaving, I received a call from my card company saying someone had used the same card (which I only used at Boulders) to make a £500 purchase at Walmart, Scottsdale - the same area as Boulders. My card provider advised it looks like my card was skimmed a month earlier when I was staying at Boulders and as such cancelled the card & refused the transaction.

Wonderful privacy and decor

Great staff and delicious food. The villas view to the desert is beautiful. The wildlife passing on the patio was an added bonus.

The resort grounds beautiful location!

Room service left a lot to be desired. It was an inconvenience to the person taking our order over the phone. It took forever for our food to arrive and when it did arrive it was not what we ordered.

Couples massage we had at the spa was excellent, we both really enjoyed it and will be returning. The breakfast we had at the Palo Verde restaurant was great, the food was fresh and very tasty, I highly recommend. Also, all staff we came into contact with were very nice and friendly.

The views were amazing. The staff was friendly and helpful. The setting in the boulders is always special.

The room was dated. The view off our patio was looking down on a roof with 2 old rusty AC units, not great! Bed was fine but the rest of the furniture was old. The door had to be busted open with a shoulder in it. Food prices were exorbitant. This is a Curio Brand for Hilton...should be like a JW Marriot brand...not the case with the room quality AT ALL! Very disappointed with the $$ spent even with a summer rate.

Beautiful resort. We absolutely loved it and the staff were wonderful. The food was delicious at every restaurant.

It’s a little far out from things but it is a minor inconvenience. Bees at the pool were bad one day but it was remedied quickly by the pool staff.

I loved the location. It was really nice. Bed was comfortable.

Upon arrival, the front desk girl was not very nice and made us wait for our room. I went outside to tell the shuttle people and they responded with "Another room not ready". The first night we were there, our water was coming out brown from the faucets. Light bulbs were burned out and needed to be replaced. The hot water in our "Casita" would take a minimum of 20 mins to get slightly hot. One of the sinks were not draining and the tub drain never worked, even after being fixed. Luckily someone fixed the lights and the drain at the sink the first night. The patio furniture was broken and the luggage rack broke after placing luggage on it. I did not like the fact that I had to take a shuttle to get to my car/room every day. One night after coming home, I sat in the car for 10 mins waiting for a shuttle to come pick me up (Yes, I had gone by and alerted the shuttle people I needed a shuttle to my room). I ended up walking back to my room because I had picked up dinner and didn't want it to get any colder. Our first morning there, we ordered breakfast with "in room dining". A small Cranberry juice was $7.00 (the whole bill for breakfast with tip was $129.00) Food was $77.00, the rest were all fees. When I asked the manager about the prices and how high they were, she gave me a "It is what it is" type of attitude and said she hardly ate there because of the prices. I understand the extra charge but that's just price gauging. After the breakfast debacle, We went other places to eat. No microwaves in the room, one FIRE log per room. I am just glad we didn't have the rat problem that a lot of reviews had. Unfortunately, we did not read the reviews about it and would have never stayed here. I will never go back to The Boulders Resort. I thought for the "5 star resort" it would have been a better stay.

Beautiful facility and grounds! My husband loved the golfing and I enjoyed the Spa. The rooms were clean, spacious and cozy. The room certainly was as pictured!

The parking was a little far and at night it is very dark. More lightning around grounds would be better.

I didn’t care to be directly below the person or persons staying in a room above me. The ceiling is very thin and you could hear stomping and banging around very clearly. This was several times during the night and I didn’t get much sleep.

Breakfast was extremely expensive and chef cannot cook eggs.

Golf carts that are used to transport guest are driven extremely fast by the staff and are not courtesy to other guest walking. The spa, you’re made to feel unwelcome if you’re not buying a spa service and only using the amenities. The face towels in the bowl of ice outside the steam room were very stained and dirty looking. The hot tub has a sign that states if the temperature is 104 or higher do not use, but nothing there to tell you the temperature. The railing going into the hot tubs are not centered properly, therefore the steps are uneven, if entering on opposite side of rail. I know because I hurt my shoulder thinking I was stepping down onto the step. If to remain off center there should be signage where to enter for safety. The cleanliness was lacking, we arrived at the spa at 2:30 which we were told upon entering they closed at 5pm by several staff members. At 4:15 I was using the hairdryer and walked away to get something from my bag and within two minutes the locker room attendant was already putting away my hairdryer and I said I was still using that and she said ok and reminded me about the closing time again. The next morning I came back when it first opened at 8:00 a m the first one there and the trash was not emptied in the locker rooms and the toilet I used had poop in it. I’m thinking the locker room was tidy up but not cleaned or disinfected. I felt hurried and was not a relaxing environment. My opinion the staff should not start to do the final clean until the last customer leaves. Also only two jets work in the hot tub and it was full of what felt like small gravel in the bottom of the hot tub.

The pool was great!

The room had a lot of cobwebs in it and maid service was sporadic at best. The shampoo and body wash were empty for several days, and getting someone to refill them was difficult. We ordered room service which was a $4.00 delivery fee plus an automatic 20% bringing our chips and salsa and 12" pizza to $56.00 with no plates or napkins. The spa was closed due to air conditioning issues which was the reason for choosing this property.

I used this stay as a weekend staycation. The location was amazing and I really enjoyed the scenery, solitude and the ambiance. I would recommend this place to anyone local looking for a quick weekend getaway.

The grounds are very pretty but the upkeep and maintenance of the casitas needs major improvement. There was an overall tired appearance to the place. Not what you’d expect at a 4-5 star resort. Lots of crumbling plaster and steps, loose handrails, dents and dings inside and outside. The casitas are very spacious and well appointed but the stone floors inside the casita were filthy- bare feet turned black and the sink and fridge area had noticeable water damage to counters and moldings. Critters scurried and scratched at the exterior walls keeping us up most of the first night. The golf cart shuttle service was a nice perk except a few times they forgot about us and we waited a long time and had to call back. At checkout one of the managers was kind enough to credit us back 2 meal tabs for our troubles and give us a later check out. It’s just a shame that there were issues that had to be compensated for in the first place.

The AC in our unit was not working and while we were asked if we wanted to switch rooms, this was at 10:30pm and we had a child with us. One staff member actually asked where we were from (NJ) and said that explained it because the people from AZ don’t even turn their AC on yet that time of year. (Mind you it was 100 that day.) The staff at the spa snack bar and restaurant for breakfast were not trained well or organized. The guy working the spa bar tried to make a cocktail that turned out awful, an attempt to fix it made it worse, we finally asked if he could just make a different drink and he said “honestly, no, I don’t know how to make these.” It took 15 min to get a refund credited back to our room as he was unsure how to do that too. Breakfast orders came out wrong and/or missing some of the descriptors on the menu (ie sauces, fruit, additional accompaniments) then no one circled back around after delivery of the food and discovery of missing items to resolve it before the main food got cold. As we sat waiting we overheard other tables with the exact same complaints.

Overpriced for the room, very expensive but room was not in best condition. Tried to change room but none were available.

Absolutely loved it! The perfect get away.

The unit was very private and large. The amenities of the room were nice, but a little dated. Nice golf course.

The room leaked in our closet and down the wall. Called but nothing was done about it. There was a mess of needles in front of unit that kept being brought in until we had to request for them to be blown off. Lastly, there was a sewage line outside our unit that constantly smelled every time we walked out our unit.

At check in two staff would not accept that the amount, which I paid Booking.com, included the resort fee. They insisted on reserving it on my credit card, under incidentals. They told me to sort it out with Booking.com. I called yourselves and got a VERY helpful customer service agent, who did sort it out. She said that The Boulders checkin would contact me ad tell me that all was in order. They did not. So I had to go down to desk next day to ask. On previous visits, my wife and I used to start the day with breakfast at the spa. Then spend some time at the spa pool, with relaxing music in the background. Unfortunately for this visit, the spa was undergoing building work in some areas, with Jack hammers providing the music. Also food service was minimal.

Decided to stay here for our anniversary and we were both very disappointed. The room was very run down and most of the furniture was broken or needed new paint. the rug in the room looked like it’s been there for maybe 20 years without being washed. our remote for the room wasn’t working and neither was the tv. not worth the money for what you’re getting. place needs some Tlc

I loved everything absolutely beautiful

our room #217 has a Bad odor in it. also Something Happens the patio door or patio adjust itself every like 10-15 minutes and it can be scary the first night I thought someone’s trying to break in. uncomfortable feeling and at some point when trying to fall asleep annoying;( no privacy I requested a private room and got one in the middle of it all ;(

They did not have enough staff in food and beverage for the amount of guests they had. W went off property for breakfast and dinners. they still charged premium prices for a less than premium experience. golf course (south) over rated. charged $300 per round in the morning. Greens were very average. premium price, with average conditions.
