Sommerro, Oslo

The sommerro has to be one of the most beautiful hotels we have stayed in. Paying a little extra for a suite gives you free entry to the both spa areas which is highly recommended. All staff throughout the hotel were fantastic, we felt like long standing customers and felt very welcomed. The decor is stunning and all very modern and clean. The location is ideal as everything is within walking distance but feels a little set back and not as busy as the centre so it's lovely and quiet. The room surpassed our expectations. All the staff that we were greeted or served by were fantastic. The Italian barman that served us was brilliant, very friendly and informative also. Great stay, would highly recommend.

The decor was exceptional and unique throughout the entire hotel. I found the breakfast super vegan friendly, one of the best I’ve probably had. We also really enjoyed the atmosphere and the evening band.

I was disappointed to find that the access to the pool needs to be pre-booked and has to be paid additionally.

Janine at the restaurant was amazing from the very beginning – her service and recommendations made our stay feel special. The hotel itself is beautiful, with an outstanding gym and one of the best breakfasts I’ve ever had at a hotel.

The twin-bed rooms don’t have a phone and are treated like second-class compared to the others, which was quite disappointing.

The overall stay was just perfect. The arrival and the friendliness of the staff, they were so helpful! The breakfast was so great, so many options available and amazing food. Our room was amazing! The cleaning staff were great and really friendly. They even done a turndown service most nights.

It was beautifully decorated! The location was very easy to navigate Oslo. The breakfast was also amazing!

It was HUGE! We had 2 rooms and requested the same floor. They were very far apart from one another. Also, we were there over a Saturday night and there was a wedding and you could hear the music from the wedding in the room.

Super location in Oslo, right next to bus, tram and subway. Easy with car and valet parking. NOK 795 per day. Smiling staff, everyone very attentive, efficient check-in. Great rooms in terms of style - retro, large bed (very soft), large bathroom. It is mainly double rooms. Paid extra to get to the roof terrace and pool. Decent area, a bit small, and on a hot summer day there was nowhere to sit (full). But we were able to cool off in the pool. The best thing about the whole stay was the breakfast. Fantastic atmosphere, delicious buffet, separate menu for omelettes / pancakes etc. It never happens that I am stuffed after a breakfast, but I was this morning, and was almost a little sick for having eaten too much.

Pay extra for rooftop terrace access. A bit negative is that once you have done that there is really no space other than being in the pool.

…. but it would have been nice to have a small vanity mirror in the bedroom to do make up 🙂 … and slightly weird to charge guests for a swim and sauna. 🤷‍♀️

Good choice of breakfast. The room was excellent and the staff (Emma on reception and Thibaud in the level 7 bar) were particularly helpful.

The people showing you to your table at breakfast and dinner had this insatiable approach of sitting people right next to each other even when there were plenty of spaces elsewhere - this is not always what people want.

The Sommerro is a grand hotel, a fully modernized art deco gem in the heart of Oslo. The hotel made me feel so pampered. The rooms were luxurious, with every detail considered. We were a short walk to the waterfront with fine dining and entertainment. The breakfast experience rivals anything we've experienced, a truly gourmet, decadent experience. It isn't cheap, but it made our time in Oslo even more memorable.

The rooftop pool has to be reserved and paid for, which felt unnecessary given the price of the stay.

Our requests at the front desk were ignored multiple times. I asked for a birthday amenity (which I was more than happy to pay for) and got nothing.

Art-Deco Icon. We loved the design and level of detail in the rooms as well as the public spaces.

Beautiful property, very nice rooms, excellent breakfast and great food on the terrace restaurant. Visited the terrace pool which was nice but very small, public transportation is very conveniently located right outside, Aker Brygge area just a few minutes away. Loved this hotel.

We had our honeymoon here and literally everything was brilliant. It’s a truly superb hotel with wonderful luxury, character, comfort, facilities, location and service. Flawless.

Just a small remark on breakfast timing. From website to in room directory breakfast stars at 7am, but is actually 7,20.

Friendly staff-Gorgeous setting-Beautiful amenities!

This is a luxurious, very well appointed hotel, well situated for the commercial part of town, with the waterfront fifteen to twenty minutes’ walk away. The service at the hotel is excellent, and the breakfast buffet up there with the very best. It’s great that they are dog friendly, at least as far as having them stay in designated rooms is concerned.

Aside from the cost, there’s really nothing not to like. Some reviews mention noise, but I had a room facing the internal courtyard and it was completely quiet, with no noise even from the adjacent rooms. A good tip is not to go down to breakfast until ten or fifteen minutes after opening time, as to begin with there can be queues (at weekends at least) and it takes them a bit of time to seat people.

The spa shop staff could improve their service. Unfortunately, the staff at the spa shop weren’t very helpful or friendly. A bit more explanation and a warmer welcome would have made a big difference. The spa/gym/pool area is set up differently than in most hotels, which can be confusing for guests. It’s a pity, as a clearer introduction would help set the right tone for the experience.

Beautiful, lavish facilities. Excellent location— we walked everywhere.. Wonderful breakfast served in beautiful setting. Our room (deluxe) had large windows that opened onto charming playground,,which made our stay, in what was a very large hotel with conference facilities , multiple upscale restaurants etc feel mote intimate and Unique.

Beautiful hotel. Nice decoration. Attention to details. Friendly staffs. Very good breakfast. A big plus is its perfect location with direct highspeed train from airport and tram station right in front of the hotel.

The location was wonderful!

Attention to detail, excellent location, one of the best breakfasts I have ever had in a hotel with a premium selection in a really special environment, all personnel were genuinely friendly, polite and helpful, while also the rooms are providing an excellent time-travel experience, however with high-quality choices. I am definitely not going to look for another option when traveling back to Oslo!

Paid for wellness spa but no one advised the male sauna was out of order. Downstairs Spa facilities were underwhelming - nowhere to relax indoors and little helpful guidance from staff. No free access to rooms so have to wait in reception for someone to let you through doors - reception often unmanned. Really poor standard massage

The Somerro is world class. Truly an outstanding stay. The staff are amazing. The food is great. The room is comfortable and beautiful. The facilities are stellar. The gym is the best I have seen in a hotel and I am an avid lifter - lots of equipment.

Sommerro is pure luxury. Our room was gorgeous and the breakfast was the best hotel breakfast I’ve probably ever had.

During our stay the pool was fully booked, which as guests we found quite frustrating. We also didn’t like having to pay to use the pool as guests, as the rooms aren’t exactly cheap. Little things like that feel like a shame when everything else is so immaculate.
