Problems with air conditiom

Best location in Oslo!

great historical hotel in lovely building . cannot be more central . great breakfast (best in entire trip in Norway) . great rooftop for drinks . nice staff

Beautiful building and gorgeous interior in lobby and bar area. Fantastic breakfast too.

The room was very bland and not what we would have expected for the price we were paying.

Staff is not trained at the level of the hotel We were late 10 minutes at the breakfast deadline and asked to be seated for a few minutes to have a coffee and some basic marmalade. There were still people seated and food over the counter. Long discussion, several managers of different levels intervened, time wasted for everybody bud nobody could handled it correctly. Also, at the bar in the eve and at the reception desk, the service was not of a decent standard

Tired and depressing grey room. No pictures on wall. Hotel dated and in need of a massive overhaul

How old and tired the rooms were.

Location is central.

Very small bathroom with little space for toiletries. AC unit ran constantly making noise.

Breakfast was absolutely amazing and extremely fresh, for example freshly squeezed orange juice which is rare. The room was clean and the bed was extremely comfortable.There is also lots of fascinating history embedded within the hotel!

Button/Bell at the reception desk would have been nice as the concierge team was not always around, especially late at night - which is understandable but, it did mean we had to wait and hope that they knew we were waiting. Staff were quick to attend regardless of the absence of a button/bell

I eat outside the hotel

The room was a bit small. Especially the wardrobe space

Centrally located and convenient for transport (metro/bus) to sights. The history of the hotel and the classic decor has a romantic high end feel of the hotels of the yesteryears and also the staff was friendly.

Old buildings don’t have AC typical in this region, it was a hot stay and beds maybe a bit too soft for some.

Location right in the middle of the city. Beautiful historic building. Great breakfast.

The swimming pool is very small and costs NOK250 per person to use! This is the first time I see a hotel charging guests for using onsite swimming pools.

The rooftop bar was closed 2 days, so we didn’t get to experience it.

Location was very central, room was lovely, it was very clean. Wide selection at breakfast buffet. Nice rooftop bar with fabulous views over the city.

Clean & Quiet! Closet had enough hanger. Bathroom, if it could divided into Dry & Wet shall be much better. If breakfast can extend longer to 11:00 am to get more restful for a relaxed travel.

It’s a tiny thing, but it shows how people’s works attitude. Why the plastic bag on trash can never really putted in “ Right position “? I need to make plastic bag into the trash can bottoms everyday.

A lovely historic hotel with character. The location was excellent. Park across the road and theatres very close. Many restaurants and cafes within a minute walk. Metro about 100metes away and only one stop from the express train to the airport.

The stairs! I wish we had known that not only was there stairs to reach the elevator with your suitcase there were ones mid floor too. With health issues it was difficult to manage. Staff at check in could have helped by advising.

Location is amazing

Extremely small rooms. Couldn’t even fit my suitcase in there without stepping on it when going to the bathroom.

- the overall experience was far away from a five-star hotel - The breakfast was not special - smoke smell in the room - no flexibility with special request that should not be a concern in a five-star hotel; eg. early check-out and breakfast

Amazing location and grand old hotel

The staff is amazing...They are TOP NOTCH. Did everything they could to make my stay satisfactory. I wasn't happy with the rooms and they quickly did what they could to rectify whatever issues there was. When corresponding via email, they are quick and responsive. I really appreciated the staff during my stay. LOVE the location of the hotel, centrally located, close to train station, waterfront, palace, shopping, etc.

After asked to move rooms, the second room was worse: very small, dark and dingy; the 3rd room was run down: broken chandelier, didn't pass dust test, empty conditioner dispenser/empty tissue box; However, they finally gave me a very good, clean "updated" room. The breakfast buffet was ok, I dislike that I repetitively got room temp cappuccinos from the wait staff and had to walk around asking for help on more than one occasion. I dislike that this is what its like at 5-star hotels in general; unless you're paying for super expensive suites, they don't feel the need to update/have pristinely clean lower priced room as they rely on their name/status. If a hotel is to be labeled as 5-star ALL rooms should be up-to-standard and represent the caliber of the star status and name. I've stayed at 5-star hotels all over the world and this seems to be the norm, which is sad for the prices you're paying. I never run into these issues at 3-star hotels, they're always super clean and strive for excellence.

Excellent location, authentic old hotel and luxurious rooms

Deluxe rooms can be located just on top of the night-club / bar which can be super noisy, especially in the weekend. Expect to run into towel trolleys that are simply standing in the hallway

Our room was above a wedding reception and the music lasted well past midnight.

Very nice hotel, in a great location, room lovely shower great and breakfast is fantastic.

Nothing however there is no free bottled water in the room which is unusual.

I was offered a room with a front view but while it was very comfy and high quality when I noticed it was the smallest room in the hotel on the fire plan, I felt a bit sad as had another day and night to go without my friends and so intended spending more time in my room rather than be out and about by myself! When I raised this with staff within a few hours they moved me next door to a beautiful big room with a window to the front. It made me very happy and I was grateful the staff took my feelings seriously and acted to ensure the rest of my staff was topp quality and I ended my first experience in Norway on a real high! Very memorable.

Very comfortable bed with spacious bathroom and shower. There were plug sockets by the bed which was very convenient, as well as coffee machine and good minibar. The staff were all friendly and the breakfast buffet is extensive! Very good value for money, and great location too.

No kettle in the room

It is one of the nicer hotels we’ve ever been to, reason why we came back to it again. Beautiful building, great location, very kind and efficient staff and a spectacular breakfast

Great location and breakfast.

Having to pay a fee as a resident to use the spa is rare and we think cheeky when you pay for 5* hotel but we planned our day around a visit early evening as we were told by reception that the spa closed at 8pm. On arrival at 5.15, the spa attendant said it closed at 6pm. She wouldn't let me swim for the final half hour unless I paid the full fee (k250). Rules is rules, she was not having it. I complained to reception who gave us drinks tokens. We went to the bar at 9.45pm to use them to be told nothing except beer and wine could be served as the bar closes at 10pm and no G&T's could be served after 9.30pm. It's a Norwegian law apparently. Complained again to be met by fixed faces at reception. Disappointing. Won't stay again.
