Hotel Villa Victoria, Nice

33, Boulevard Victor Hugo, 06000 Nice, France (show on map)

Hotel Villa Victoria is a refined place in the prestigious Carré d’Or district of Nice. Situated on the beautiful Boulevard Victor Hugo, this Art Deco-style hotel offers a peaceful retreat while remaining right in the heart of the city’s vibrant scene. Its most striking feature is an expansive 600 m² private garden, a rare and tranquil “secret paradise” that provides a lush, floral escape from the urban hustle.

The property is defined by its classic Niçoise elegance, blending traditional Mediterranean charm with modern comfort. Inside, the design is sophisticated and intentional, with many rooms offering serene views over the garden or the tree-lined boulevard. It’s an ideal spot for those who appreciate quiet, storied surroundings; the hotel manages to feel like a private residence despite being just steps from the city’s main attractions.

Location-wise, you are perfectly placed for exploration. The world-famous Promenade des Anglais and the sparkling Mediterranean are just a short walk away, as are the upscale shopping streets of the city centre. If you want to dive into local culture, the bustling Cours Saleya market in the historic Old Town and the stunning Place Masséna are easily accessible, making it a brilliant base for seeing the best of Nice.

Beyond the grounds, the hotel offers a seamless experience with access to a partner beach club, Bocca Mar, on the Promenade. Whether you’re relaxing with a drink in the garden or wandering toward the nearby Saint-Nicolas Russian Orthodox Cathedral, the Villa Victoria balances relaxation with the effortless French Riviera lifestyle.

Expert reviews

New York Times review:

“Following a full renovation in 2013, Villa Victoria sports colorful rooms with funky wallpapers and bright fabrics. But the main draw is the courtyard garden.”

Featured in New York Times’ 36 Hours in Nice, France.

Telegraph review:

“The grand apricot façade of this central townhouse recalls the days when British aristocrats used to winter here on the Côte d’Azur. One of Hotel Villa Victoria’s best-kept secrets is the glorious garden where you can relax in a hammock shaded by bright bougainvillea and fragrant jasmine.”

It was a fantastic stay. We will return next summer.

The location was very central to all the sites and beach. The room size was exceptionally large for a central location. The staff was extremely attentive.

Breakfast selection was slightly limited.

Decent room, close to the beach

It was quiet and relatively close to the beach and other main attractions.
Good air conditioning.

The room was pretty basic, with only one chair and nowhere to hang your coat or bags, other than the wardrobe.

Good hotel in perfect location.

Great location, central yet quiet. We had a room facing the garden. WiFi and AC were spotless. Nice garden. Friendly staff

Bar service can be improved. 20 minutes to pour a glass of wine and blend a watery gin & tonic… with no other guests around.

Excellent location lovely staff excellent garden for breakfast disappointment in the car park facilities.

The location was wxcellent. The staff were excellent. The garden for breakfast was excellent.

It was only when we arrived that we realized that there was limited parking. This is not clear on the description. It is in the small print. I shouldnt have to read the small print to find this, it should be clear. I had to park in a public carpark at a coost of 90 euros. Our room was too small, we were offered an upgrade because of the parking and were given a room that was clearly modified for disabled occupancy so had a little more space.

I would book elsewhere, there are planets of choices in Nice.

Close to of town Nice within walking... cold AC and had an elevator.

The room was difficult for plug in hair tools and the walls were thin. We had out TV on at a normal
Level and the next room complained and the staff were rude about the complaint when they called our room. There was an unfinished pool with lots of dust around it through our garden view.

The location was good, the room very basic and the hotel needs some love, I wish it looked like the photos.

The garden was nice

The photos definitely look much better than the hotel itself. We were given the disabled room which was very basic for the premium price we paid and the bed uncomfortable.

Nice, clean hotel with wonderful garden. Quite expensive for what you get.

Loved the garden, perfect for having a slow breakfast (a bit pricey for what you get, but adequate and coffee / croissants / juice were good!). Location a bit further from the center than anticipated, but ok walking distance. Area felt safe. Clean room, big enough to pull the twin beds a bit further from each other, nice bathroom, no bugs. Coffee and water available in the room. Would stay again.

Lobby / common areas were a bit outdated, however garden compensated very well. Only one shared bathroom in a lobby. Low water pressure in the shower. Poor soundproofing but luckily other quests were quiet.

A pleasant in Nice

The room was extremely clean, location was ideal to visit the old town of NICE, a 15 minute walk and the garden view was calm and beautiful. Breakfast times were good served from 6.45am - 10.30am. Staff were very helpful and friendly.

The standard double was quite small, so go I would say go for the larger double rooms. they hadn't turned the AC on as yet, so the room could become quite stuffy, though they did provide a fan and you could open the windows. Breakfast was ok but nothing to write home about, though the did have gluten free product and alternative milk products, which is good for visitors with allergies or intolerances.

I recommend this nice hotel.

The hotel staff were very polite and responsive. The location was excellent, and the hotel’s small garden was delightful, peaceful, and beautiful. Everything was very clean.

The toilet was a bit small but clean, and overall it was acceptable.

Great location and very pleasant staff, would recommend !

Lovely room with garden view, a good size. The hotel is very well situated a couple of blocks back from the beach. Walking distance to most central areas of Nice and excellent proximity to trams and buses.

The only downside was the hard pillows which prevented a good nights sleep.

PEACEFUL, EASILY ACCESSIBLE, ON A LARGE SPACIOUS STREET, IN A SAFE AREA.

STAYED WITH MY FAMILY IN A ROOM FOR 3 PEOPLE IN THE LAST WEEK OF JANUARY. THE LOCATION OF THE HOTEL IS GREAT. CLOSE TO RESTAURANTS, CAFES, MAIN SHOPPING STREET AND THE SEASIDE. IT IS BEST TO PARK THE CAR IN FRONT OF THE HOTEL. WE STAYED AT THE GROUND FLOOR, GARDEN VIEW WAS PEACEFUL.

THE SIZE OF THE BEDSIDE TABLE WAS SO SMALL FOR ME :))) BUT I AM SURE THAT IS BECAUSE OF MY STUFF:)) HAIR CONDITIONER CAN BE PUT IN THE SHOWER. THERE WAS HAIR SHAMPOO IN ONE BOTTLE AND BODY SOAP IN THE OTHER BOTTLE. AN ALTERNATIVE TO HAIR CONDITIONER WOULD BE BETTER.

Beautiful hotel in a terrific location!

Arrived a little early but a room was ready. Had booked a deluxe double with street view (admittedly the gorgeous Blvd Victor Hugo) and was upgraded to a garden view room. So beautiful in the bright mornings from the little balcony and there are mature orange trees too.
Terrific location and the hotel is in a Niçois bourgeois building.
Really excellent hot/cold breakfast buffet, everything you could possibly want.

Can't think of anything to criticise!

good location, good price/performance ratio

+the hotel is within walking distance to the beach
+In just 5 minutes you can reach numerous restaurants for dinner on foot
+price/performance absolutely fine (We cannot give a rating for the in-house breakfast, as we always had breakfast in one of the numerous bakeries nearby.)
+For the price, the room size is absolutely sufficient, but in our opinion one or two renovation measures could already be implemented.
+The hotel has a very nice garden. I'm sure you can spend a very nice evening here in the summer.

-On booking.com, the hotel advertises its own parking spaces. In fact, there are a maximum of 5 parking spaces available in front of the hotel for the entire hotel. The hotel should definitely make this clearer, as you can only make a reservation request for a parking space after booking.
-Furthermore, it should be noted that due to the lack of parking spaces, loading and unloading luggage from your own car is very inconvenient. It is actually not possible to park if the five hotel parking spaces are occupied. There is also a no parking zone in front of the hotel, and the driveway of the neighboring building is right next to it.
-The hotel lift is very small and can no longer be described as modern. The luggage trolley barely fits in the lift.
-/+If there are no parking spaces available at the hotel, you can park in the "Mozart Garage". We made use of this option and paid around EUR 90.00 for 4 days. (note: However, it should be noted that the parking spaces in this garage are very narrow. You should also avoid driving sports cars into this garage, as you will be stuck with the vehicle when driving in and out.)
-On the second day we had to complain about room service because it had not arrived even at 3:30 p.m. We were pleased that we were compensated for this situation with a toiletry set, but this attempt was unfortunately marred by the general discontent of the staff.
-In four days, no one managed to say "good morning" or "good evening". Even when we left, the receptionist didn't manage to wish us a "safe journey" home. That may sound a bit petty, but it's just the way it should be.

Satisfying stay, but expensive for the amenities offered at the price

-The location is very good, in a safe neighborhood and close to the Promenade
-The biggest asset is the staff which has a very good level of customer service
-The possibility to have parking at the hotel, even though is paid (20 euro)

The room is outdated, a lot of marks on the doors
The ceiling was cracked , spiders at the corners of the room.
Quite expensive- with parking and breakfast the price is too high for what it offers

Excellent hotel I would recommend to all.

The breakfast was excellent, The hotel clean and tidy. The staff very helpful as we had asked for a walk in shower not a bath due to my wife's disability. Not communicated to them but they changed our room on arrival.

Nothing.

It's a nice boutique hotel with a beautiful internal garden, could be much nicer with a small revamp and a nicer sta

The location is perfect, in a nice neighborhood, close to restaurants and beach but away from crowded areas. It has also a beautiful internal garden for breakfast.

The staff could definitely be nicer. The room is very basic, the bed mattress not too comfortable and the closets don't have doors. The room is outdated.
