Lonely Planet review:

“Beside Audubon Park, this ornate wooden masterpiece was built in 1884 to impress people attending the World Cotton Exchange Exposition. The rooms and guest lounge are heavy with antiques, and the verandah overlooking the park and St Charles Ave is lovely.”

Park View - worth a stay

Location excellent Comfortable, safe, beautiful, historic Breakfast was good - appreciated once served Staff helpful Soft, hot water in shower St Charles streetcar spot out front

1) hot water dispensed not filled Fri night, none avail Sat am 2) chandelier in dining room may need attention, seems loose at ceiling 3) breakfast process extremely disorganized, couldn't evening closing front desk person help set up non perishables? - many opportunities there for more streamlined service 4) cracked hair dryer in room 5) hot chocolate option 6) steep stairs - should have signs or more verbal / written warning

The best hotel we stayed at in our recent tour of Louisiana and Texas

Simply superb, the furniture and fittings made this a unique hotel to stay at

nothing to fault, if I was to mention the breakfasts were ok but not to the same standard as everything else. the fact you had to keep asking for bread for toast. But I’m being picky.

If you don't want the French Qtr, stay here!

My husband, our son and his wife met to attend the Sugar Bowl. It was perfect in that our rooms were close and shared a sitting area. Breakfast was delicious. Staff is friendly. Location was great for a walk in Audubon Park and walk to neighborhood restaurants. Always have to ride the street car. Bonus was the breakfast room that we used in the evening to play bridge. Enjoyed visiting with the owners.

Exceptional

It is a gorgeous old hotel. Beautiful furnishings and decorations. The front desk was especially helpful fixing the mess I made with our reservation. The breakfast and snacks were very good also. We will definitely be going back. I highly recommend the Parkview Historic Hotel.

Be prepared for no elevator. The stairs are very good exercise. The staff is very helpful carrying your luggage.

A must stay

We were there to visit Tulane with my daughter. The hotel us right across the campus and the park and only 15 mn from Bourbon street. It was amazing to get to see one of these big historical mentions inside. There is so much to see, antique furniture so cool The hotel is very clean and with extra attention to details to ensure customer's safety And by attention to detail I mean EVERY detail from the sanitization to the treats and refreshments. There were even umbrellas and mosquito repellent in the lobby. The hotel is very quiet so that you relax after a long day. Breakfast is hone made and to die for Net a must stay

It is a historical house so there is a smell that only old houses have. I am European and used to it so did mot mind but some people may find it unpleasant

A real life doll house

The property was beautiful! We arrived after dark and felt like we were walking into Disney’s Haunted Mansion, minus the spider webs. It was beautifully decorated and felt like we were staying in a doll house.

I would have loved to have a hook to hang my towel in the bathroom. With two guests staying in the room we only had one place to hang wet towels to dry after showers.

Exceptional

The guest house is beautiful and a perfect combination of old world charm and new amenities. The location is convenient to all New Orleans has to offer. Sitting on the porch watching the streetcar go by is the icing on the cake.

Very atmospheric and well located for uptown sites and on streetcar line making downtown easy. Good breakfast. Internet in room was inconsistent but great in lobby. Will stay again.

A nice, friendly and quiet hotel in New Orleans with lots of character and a history behind.

The house is beautiful and very nicely kept, near Audobon Park. We checked in late because we lost our flight yet everything was properly arranged for us and very clearly explained in spite of being no one in the premises. Very friendly and kind service, including the two ladies in the kitchen.

I would have loved to have the windows in our bedroom opened at night, since we were just in front of the park. Unfortunately this was not possible. You cannot have everything.

Lovely

The property was close to a lot of places we wanted to visit without being in the middle of a tourist area. You’re surrounded by other lovely homes and you can walk to the Audubon park that’s mere feet away. It’s a well-loved hotel where you step back into a time of grandeur. All of the furnishings and details are beautiful and thoughtfully placed. Every employee we talked to were so kind and helpful. The breakfasts were amazing too! I can’t wait to stay again!

Pleasant

We enjoyed the location and the nice staff. The historic building and its decor was lovely to be around.

Breakfast was bare and we had to wait about 30 minutes for them to restock it. By the time they did, the coffee was empty too. We ended up leaving to buy breakfast 2 out of 3 days we stayed there. The bedding was rather uncomfortable with flat pillows and sparse, thin blankets. The water pitcher downstairs was not refilled and sat dirty with old fruit and water for 3 days. With a lack of a refrigerator in the room, fresh ice water would have been a nice amenity. The worst part was the large family staying there at the same time as us that allowed their children to run screaming all over the 3rd floor on Wednesday night while we tried to relax after a long day of flying. I ended up having to complain to the front desk because they were running around unsupervised on our floor. Apparently, the parents were downstairs at the hotel bar drinking.

location was perfect for us, enjoyed the trolley right out side the hotel,

it was spotty, some days excellent other days poor lack of food, example ran out of cream for coffee on Tuesday, no cream was still not available on Friday when we left, one day had biscuits, bacon and grits, no eggs, one day had great scrabbled eggs and hardly any available

enjoy a glass of wine and some sweets on the veranda, very much over rated, felt like you where begging for them, could do a much better job, explaining these programs upon check in,

great location. older house/hotel, which was very well kept.

The Hotel was beautiful and charming in a great and safe location. The park across the street was outstanding. The staff was very friendly and accommodating

The bed was awful. Older mattress and noisy. The breakfast was so-so, but we opted not to eat the second day and get a real breakfast elsewhere

Rude owner

Didn’t eat breakfast.

Owner is rude. I decided not to stay here because check in was going to be complicated at this small place after my child had a major surgery the same day. I explained why and cancelled. For some reason they emailed and ask me why again. I responded less patiently since I was repeating myself. The owner wrote a patronizing response chastising me for asking for my correct title to be used in correspondence because she and her friends don’t like using titles, telling me how to feel about their policies and communication, telling me my experience would have been better if I hadn’t using this website and instead booked directly with them, and complaining I sent a barrage of emails (I sent 3 emails, 2 of which they specifically requested, the third to cancel).
