Quiet, nice pool, right in the French Quarter, good breakfast

No towel rack in bathroom

We tried to get room service. We called several times and no one would answer the phone. The food downstairs was great, but it would have been great if we'd been able to get it to our room.

It was right on Bourbon Street in the heart of New Orleans French Quarter. Even though there was always something going on outside, the room inside was quiet for a relaxing stay!

Everything about the hotel and staff were fantastic. I just wish the walls were thicker. We got a balcony room on Bourbon and expected that noise but we could also hear everything above, below and in the hallway clear as day. My only complaint

The location is phenomenal. The pool area and interior courtyard are beautiful. Good access to restaurants, entertainment.

Furnishings and finishes are looking tired. Cleanliness is mediocre. Room was not ready at checkin time.

I liked that there was always someone at the desk as was able to get what I needed. Pool area was well maintained. Friendly staff!!! Fun place to stay!!!

I didnt like people smoking in common areas. Also pool bar hours were hard to figure out.

The hotel lobby and other common spaces are beautiful. The location cannot be beat. The room was nice and large enough to be comfortable. It was clean.

There was no blanket on the bed and the blanket delivered after we asked for one was so thin it was like a sheet. The phone for personal service and for a bell hop was never answered and when the line for the bell hop desk went to voice mail, the voice mail box was full. The safe did not work. It needed a new battery. The handle that controls the water temperature in the shower was broken. The bed was way too soft. The thermostat either just did not work or was so funky we could not figure it out. When we checked out we were given a copy of someone else’s bill statement. When we brought it to the attention of the woman working the desk, she just shook her head and gave us the right bill. No apology was forthcoming.

Security’s nice n clean

Location was brilliant, right on Bourbon street. It can get noisy when the bands are playing. It was clean and very easily accessible.

Parking was quite expensive.

Room was fine. Noise level was okay - occasional hallway noise from other guests. Room overlooked the pool but I did not pick room for its view (I was not there too much!) Bell hops and doorman were friendly, welcoming and good natured.

Location right on Bourbon Street so it's in the center of everything. Great having a balcony off our room to sit and people watch. Staff was so wonderful and helpful.

Bottled water in rooms could have been a little cheaper.

Night security guards acted like they absolutely hated their job! They sat in the same chair & I never saw them patrolling the property. I only saw them sitting in the same chair in the lobby area.

On checking in the attendant insisted on charging a resort fee. I told her we booked on booking.com and it was included. She insisted, and didn’t relent until I showed her the booking details on my booking.com app

Beautiful hotel

I came off of a plane and paid for early check in. We didn't check in until after:230 pm. We were there since 11. They charged us still. We should have just waited for regular check in by that point. The front desk clerk was irritated when we asked about this other than that. Beautiful hotel.

We had to leave a day early because of the winter storm. The hotel would not refund my unused night.

Location is amazing! Room was good and comfortable and quiet until the college kids from Georgia arrived and then everything changed!! It was OK though and a long time ago I was young and did the same so no worries!

I think a better breakfast venue is required in a hotel such as yours.

The heated pool was great.

Not attentive on 3 different occasions. I asked for an extra pillow which they said they would bring up but they never did. I asked for the lock on the door to the outside pool/courtyard area to be fixed because the room key to outside only worked for one day of the 3 we were there. The room key worked on the main door but not the outside door and they said Maintenance would come to fix it but they never did. When I checked out the receptionist said they would email me the final billing info and she never did so I am assuming the total charges were within a few hundred dollars of what I spent but frankly I am still not sure.

We had a double bed room. Beds were comfortable. Facilities were clean. Staff was excellent and very friendly. The location was great. We were able to park for the weekend and walk everywhere we wanted to go.

the noise was awful. The overnight parking was too pricey in comparison. The Desire breakfast staff took an extremely LOOOOOOONNNNNGGGGGGG time with service, greeting, and the food was usually wrong. Overpriced food.

The property is located in the heart of the French Quarter between Royal and Bourbon St with beautiful balcony views. Our room was lovely! The balcony overlooked the Music Legends Park on Bourbon, so we could hear the live jazz at night, which was perfect. The staff from the valet to the front desk to the cleaning team was excellent. You’re within walking distance of basically everything you need with easy access to streetcar stops. We will definitely be booking here again! Be sure to check out Desire Oyster Bar! The food was delicious. I had never had oysters before & our server was kind enough to let me try a sample!

It was a little hard to book tickets for the Jazz Playhouse. I think that process could be improved with being able to reserve seats at the front desk rather than through Eventbrite. Also, there was pretty loud construction happening outside our room starting around 7-8 AM. I understand this isn’t something the hotel can do anything about, but just a warning that your balcony view could be overlooking construction (as of Dec. 2024).

The room needed a little upgrade (water fixtures). A welcome bottle of water in the room would have been nice.

Beautifully decorated for Christmas in the lobby.

Mini fridge in room had no complementary bottles of water. It was totally empty. Called front desk to find out where a vending machine was located. They only have ONE vending machine for the entire hotel down in the lower level by fitness center!! ONE! So my husband goes to find it and returns saying that the vending machine was empty! Sold out of every drink! I called back to the front desk and told them the situation and asked if they had any complementary bottles of water and she said they had a large bottle of Evian that was $15. We got it but then the next thing that happened was that the alarm system went off at midnight while we were all in bed trying to sleep! While we were trying to quickly dress another message came across the intercom that is in each room telling us to stay put until they investigate if there really is an emergency. What?? Then 20 minutes later it was announced that there was no emergency after all. Just crazy! Another issue was that the mini fridge had a glass door and fluorescent lights in it making the room very bright when all the lights are off. So we had to cover it with a decorative blanket off the bed. Beds were doubles. Hard for 2 grown ups to get comfortable in such a small bed. Most nice hotels have queens. Bathrooms small. Noise from hall was very easy to hear and made sleeping difficult. Finally, I let the hotel know that I was coming in town to celebrate my 60th birthday and could they do something special for me. Well I had celebrated my 40th here and was treated like a queen by the staff so it was disappointing to find nothing waiting in the room for me. No note, chocolates, flowers, champagne, coupon to restaurants, etc. The hotel sent me a text asking if there was anything they could do for me to just let them know. Well 3 days before I arrived I called to confirm the reservation and I told the lady that I talked to that I was coming to celebrate my 60th and could they do something special for me.

Perfect location on Bourbon, walking distance to tons of restaurants. Great staff! After upgrading to an interior balcony room, we loved the space and view.

Our initial room was very cramped and the window was sealed shut, so we upgraded (pricey!) to get a patio with a door to the balcony to get some fresh air. Would have liked a robe in the room for the price of the room.

The bed was the worst I have ever been in. It had a huge slope to the middle. Made sleeping terrible. The water pressure in the hotel was awful. Water barely came out of the tap.

Right in the heart of downtown hotel at good restaurants and entertainment. Was very clean and felt safe with the style of security you had.

The pool water was cold and couldn't use it. And wanted to. Ask for a room with a balcony and two queen beds and they could not provide that for us.

If you are in New Orleans for just a few days and want to be in the thick of the action this is definitely the place. Even though we had a room overlooking the corner of bourbon street ( and let me tell you how busy and noisy bourbon street is) we weren’t actually disturbed massively by the noise. Super comfy bed, not the strongest of showers but nice bathroom and lovely traditional balcony overlooking the street.

Better directions from the concierge’s, they told us to go in completely the wrong direction for our restaurant, but on the plus side we found things we wouldn’t have seen.

The staff was very nice, suggestions for activities in and out of the hotel was very helpful. The hotel is beautiful inside. Check in and out was a breeze. Love the Front desk staff. Whenever I needed assistance or had questions they were very prompt and courteous with solving problems. Not that I had major problems. They were always polite.

The room is kind of small for the price. My closet door was off track. The room should have had no issues when the price is so high. After 5pm it was a bit much trying to get transportation out of the area. I will choose Sonesta again but not that particular location due to the congestion around it.

Most of the staff were really good. CALEB, he was the best 👌 The man at the concierge was also great. Overall facilities were also good. Desire and The jazz club and shows were great.

1-2 staff at reception should smile while talking to customers. Hard to find water at midnight.
